Let me know what you think! Rate and comment if you liked it, otherwise, no worries."

Bian’s mother gave Bian Yingning a strict order.

“You two are in university, yet you still fight like children. What kind of behavior is that? It’s embarrassing.”

Bian Yingning pouted: “Anyway, everyone in H City knows about our little feud.”

Bian’s mother: “You’re quite proud, aren’t you?”

Not exactly. It’s just that making peace now might be too late to avoid embarrassment.

But since her mother wants to meddle, she can’t resist. Besides, she also has something to discuss with Shang Qinghui.

…

Bian’s mother and Ouyang Fei hosted the afternoon tea party. No one in their circle would refuse such an invitation; some uninvited people even tried to find ways to attend.

On Saturday afternoon, the sun was gentle, and a light breeze blew—perfect weather for horseback riding.

Bian’s mother booked the most famous equestrian center in H City. When Bian Yingning arrived, she realized it was owned by Nangong Jin, the male lead.

She immediately regretted coming.

Damn it! She was giving the male lead free money, supporting his business. Annoying!

Despite her annoyance, Bian Yingning quickly followed her mother.

They arrived early, as the hosts. Being late would be awkward.

Ouyang Fei and Shang Qinghui hadn’t arrived yet, but Hua Cancan was already there, riding a horse.

Dressed in a white equestrian outfit, her trousers tucked into black leather boots, and wearing a peaked riding cap, she sat on a chestnut-colored horse, being led by an attendant.

As the horse moved, her body swayed, and the bow tie on her shirt collar fluttered. When she looked back, she was both cool and alluring. Bian Yingning’s heart pounded, and she quickly covered her chest.

Her charm was overwhelming.

“The Hua family…” Bian’s mother’s eyes flickered when she saw Hua Cancan, but Bian Yingning couldn’t see what it was before it disappeared.

“Go check on the afternoon tea arrangements. I’ll go find an outfit,” Bian’s mother instructed Bian Yingning.

Bian Yingning complained: “Why do I have to check on these things?”

“You’re grown up now. You should learn how to host a party properly.”

Bian Yingning had no reason to refuse.

Although she suspected her mother was sending her away, she could only walk towards the service center near the stables.

Bian’s mother glanced again at the alluring Hua Cancan before turning towards the changing room.

…

As Bian Yingning came out, she saw Shang Qinghui arriving with Ouyang Fei and Shang Qingfeng.

Bian Yingning was still unfamiliar with Shang Qingfeng. She only knew he was a very protective brother and had a good business sense. If the Shang family hadn’t encountered problems, he would have certainly taken the family business to greater heights.

In the original story, even after learning that Shang Qinghui leaked the pricing to Nangong Jin, he didn’t blame her much.

But why is the brother so nice, while his sister is… well, a bit fiery?

Thinking this, she smiled and greeted the three.

Shang Qinghui looked embarrassed, avoiding eye contact and pretending to admire the scenery. Ouyang Fei nudged her several times before she reluctantly nodded.

Bian Yingning didn’t mind, maintaining a flawless smile: “Auntie, my mother is waiting for you inside. Please go in quickly. I’ll go to the service counter to check on the tea and refreshments.”

Ouyang Fei also smiled: “Okay, my fault. I got caught up getting ready and was late. Let me…” She looked at her children and said to Shang Qingfeng: “Qingfeng, go with Ningning. You two can discuss things together.”

Shang Qinghui’s lips tightened. She glanced at the refined Shang Qingfeng, then at Bian Yingning, who seemed oblivious to her mother’s intentions and was still telling Ouyang Fei that they arrived early.

As Ouyang Fei led her inside, Shang Qinghui suddenly stepped forward: “I… I’ll go with Ning.. Sister Ning. Brother, you go ahead.”

Ouyang Fei and Shang Qingfeng were surprised. Shang Qinghui, who usually disliked Bian Yingning, was taking the initiative to get close to her.

Ouyang Fei originally wanted Shang Qingfeng to cultivate a relationship with Bian Yingning, but since Shang Qinghui spoke up, she didn’t object, thinking it didn’t matter who cultivated a relationship with Bian Yingning.

“Okay, we’ll wait for you inside.” The two women walked away.

Bian Yingning and Shang Qinghui remained where they were. After the others were out of earshot, Bian Yingning looked at Shang Qinghui: “What? Afraid I’ll make a move on your brother?”

She wasn’t oblivious. From Ouyang Fei’s actions, Bian Yingning easily sensed her intentions.

Although several days had passed since the talent show, Shang Qinghui still didn’t know how to interact with Bian Yingning.

She stared at her toes, her tone still arrogant: “You know it. My brother is not someone you can aspire to!”

“Cut it out. Who wants a sister-in-law like you?” Bian Yingning expressed her disdain and walked towards the service counter.

Shang Qinghui hesitated for a while, then ran after her: “Bian Yingning, why don’t you slap me?”

Bian Yingning was amused by her distressed look: “What? Weren’t you calling me ‘Sister Ning’ just now? Now you’re using my full name? My little Hui.”

Shang Qinghui shuddered: “Don’t get cocky, old woman!”

She was a hypocrite too. Look how ladylike she was in front of her brother and mother, but now she’s being sarcastic.

“Oh.” Bian Yingning kept walking, and Shang Qinghui had to keep up: “I’m serious. I, Shang Qinghui, am accountable for my actions. Since I slapped you for no reason, you can slap me back, and we’ll be even.”

“Did you receive the bracelet?” Bian Yingning suddenly changed the subject.

This successfully silenced Shang Qinghui.

Bian Yingning guessed her thoughts: “Don’t overthink it. I won’t make you return it. I just want to ask, considering I saved you at the hotel, saved you from being kidnapped, helped you when your clothes were ruined, and you repaid me with ingratitude—how do you plan to repay me?”

Shang Qinghui: …

If a slap could settle things, what about all these little things?

“They say great kindness doesn’t need thanks. Marrying me would suffice. What do you think?” They reached the service counter, and a uniformed waitress bowed, asking if they needed help.

Bian Yingning stopped, asking for the afternoon tea list for her mother’s party. While reviewing it, she asked Shang Qinghui.

She thought Shang Qinghui was being ridiculous.

“Don’t… don’t be so…” shameless!

Shang Qinghui was both angry and annoyed, her face turning red.

Bian Yingning smirked maliciously: “Don’t be so what?”

Shang Qinghui: …She had no self-awareness.

After checking the list, Bian Yingning added a few more drinks and gave instructions to the meek waitress.

After she left, Bian Yingning interlocked her fingers, stretching: “How about this? I pinch your cheeks, and we’ll consider one of those four debts settled. It’s a good deal, right?”

She’d been eyeing Shang Qinghui’s chubby cheeks for a long time, wanting to playfully squeeze them, but she hadn’t had the chance. Now, the perfect opportunity presented itself.

Shang Qinghui: …Maybe she should return the diamond bracelet.

Insulting but not humiliating. Bian Yingning was clearly trying to humiliate her!

“Don’t be so…”

“Over the top? Then marry me?” Bian Yingning anticipated what Shang Qinghui would say.

“One pinch for one debt.” Shang Qinghui took a deep breath. She had her pride. She didn’t want to owe anyone, especially Bian Yingning.

It’s just a pinch. She slapped Bian Yingning first, so she’s still ahead, right?

Shang Qinghui comforted herself.

Bian Yingning nodded, her smile widening uncontrollably: “Mm-hmm, a beautiful woman’s word is her bond.”

Shang Qinghui gritted her teeth, lifting her chin, her eyes downcast. With determination, she seemed ready to face anything: “Come on!”

“No need to act so righteous, like you’re sacrificing yourself. You won’t lose a single piece of meat.”

Bian Yingning said this, but her hands quickly pinched Shang Qinghui’s cheeks, one on each side.

Instantly, Shang Qinghui’s round, cute face was flattened like dough.

Shang Qinghui looked at Bian Yingning’s smiling eyes. The service center was air-conditioned, and her hands were cold, making the pinching feel intense.

Everything else faded away. She forgot where they were, focusing only on Bian Yingning’s delicate features and her hands on her face.

It wasn’t painful, but it felt like more than just her face was being pinched—her heart too.

She felt like she was about to explode. When had the glorious Shang family miss ever been humiliated like this?

“Enough, ugh…”

Shang Qinghui was about to ask if Bian Yingning was done, but she released her grip, instead using her palms to rub Shang Qinghui’s cheeks, cutting off her words.

This made Shang Qinghui struggle to push Bian Yingning’s hands away.

Her face, neck, and ears were red: “Bian Yingning, that’s enough! You said you’d only pinch!”

Why the rubbing?

It’s like an old lady buying vegetables and demanding extra scallions from the vendor—taking advantage of someone.

Shang Qinghui always knew she had a baby face, appearing chubby, but no one had ever dared to comment on her round face. Bian Yingning’s actions were a blatant mockery of her round face!

Bian Yingning still looked satisfied: “Yes, didn’t I pinch you?”

Shang Qinghui: “?” What about the rubbing?

“The feel is so good.” Bian Yingning smiled contentedly.

Ah, a dream come true. Finally.

Shang Qinghui turned to leave, but Bian Yingning grabbed her in a headlock, pulling her into a hug.

A body suddenly pressed against her back, causing Shang Qinghui to almost jump. But Bian Yingning held her tightly, making her yell, “Bian Yingning! What are you doing!”

Bian Yingning leaned close to Shang Qinghui’s ear and whispered, “That only settled one debt; there are three more.”

Because they were so close, Bian Yingning’s red lips brushed against Shang Qinghui’s ear, making half her body tingle and her hair stand on end.

“I… I understand…” Like someone being kidnapped, Shang Qinghui dared not move. She was afraid Bian Yingning would bite off her ear in a fit of pique.

Thinking of this, she felt weak.

“I, Bian Yingning, don’t need repayment, but since you insist on not owing me, I’ll reluctantly accept your return gift.”

“…”

Bian Yingning whispered conspiratorially:

“If I’m not mistaken, Nangong Jin will contact you soon, telling you he wants the development rights to the southern land and wants you to tell him your family’s final bid.

He’ll probably promise you that he loves you most, that once he gets the land, he’ll solidify his position in the Nangong family.

He’ll say he wants to marry you and needs your help to achieve this, and once he succeeds, he’ll marry you in style… I want you to refuse him.”

Shang Qinghui was stunned.

She hadn’t recovered when Bian Yingning released her.

“Okay, snap out of it. Go have fun.” Bian Yingning patted Shang Qinghui’s shoulder and walked away, giving her time to process things.

For some reason, Shang Qinghui found her patience with Nangong Jin dwindling. Often, she couldn’t even remember him.

But in other people’s eyes, she should be constantly clinging to him, following him like a shadow.

Shang Qinghui recalled the past, wondering why she had been so involved in his life.

At Duanmu’s banquet, she seriously asked Nangong Jin about his feelings for her.

She remembered he always treated her like a sister, but at the bar that night, he tried to kiss her.

She didn’t bother guessing and asked him directly.

What did he say again?

“I’m not sure what my feelings for you are, but I think my world should include you.”

It made Shang Qinghui feel sick.

Did he think she was a fool? That night at the seaside hotel, he and Ji Xiaoxue were on the balcony, doing who-knows-what…

She, Shang Qinghui, was his plaything. He had other interests, and thought he could still receive favor from her?

The Nangong family should focus on their own business. Why covet what doesn’t belong to them?

But…

Shang Qinghui looked at Bian Yingning’s back in the sunlight. How did she know all this?

That night, Nangong Jin almost forcibly kissed her, and Bian Yingning rescued her.

And the night Nangong Jin asked her to organize a party and invite classmates, Bian Yingning also saved Ji Xiaoxue…

Does she… really like Nangong Jin? It wasn’t a possessive like, but she definitely had feelings for him, otherwise, why would she care so much and know so much about his affairs?

…

[Congratulations, host! You have successfully broken free from the original plot constraints by 0.1%! You have received 100 points!]

Bian Yingning had just arrived at the equestrian center when she heard the system’s voice. She was surprised: “Points fall from the sky?”

And it was 100 points!

It was like finding money.

The system didn’t respond.

Many people had already arrived at the party. Ouyang Fei and Bian’s mother were wearing riding clothes and sitting on their horses. Shang Qingfeng was calming the horses for Ouyang Fei, very filial.

Hua Cancan was already galloping, her upper body slightly leaning forward, her hands gripping the reins, jumping hurdles with her horse. Bian Yingning felt like trying it.

“Someone, get me a horse!”

Her original character’s exclusive white horse was brought over.

Looking at the shiny steed, Bian Yingning hesitated. She suddenly remembered that she didn’t know how to ride!

But… since the original character had a horse, she must know how to ride.

Bian Yingning: …Should she just leave?

Just then, Hua Cancan rode up beside her: “I saw you come here, then you disappeared.”

Her horse snorted at Bian Yingning, making her step back: “I was forced to run errands. Don’t talk about it, I’m so tired…”

She was about to say she needed a rest, when Hua Cancan said: “Then what are you still doing? Let’s have a race.”

Bian Yingning: …Are you my best friend or my enemy?

“Forget it…” Bian Yingning hesitated.

Hua Cancan frowned, looking at her strangely. After running two laps, she was slightly sweaty, her cheeks flushed, making her even more attractive.

“Why? Don’t you like horseback riding? You even spent a lot of money on this purebred white horse.”

Bian Yingning looked troubled: “I just… don’t like the color anymore. It looks like Tang Seng.”

Hua Cancan: “?”

What a strange reason.

“But the White Horse Prince also rides a white horse.”

Bian Yingning: “…But I don’t want to be Tang Seng or the White Horse Prince.”

Hua Cancan was suspicious: “What? Are you afraid of losing to me?”

Desperate, Bian Yingning looked sad: “Okay, I’ll tell you the truth. When Shang Qinghui was kidnapped, wasn’t I kidnapped too…”

“Yeah, I remember hearing it was because you chased their car, forcing the kidnappers to take you too.” Hua Cancan, who didn’t understand the connection, waited patiently for Bian Yingning’s explanation.

Bian Yingning: “…Then, they abandoned the car. They stuffed me in a sack and used a horse to carry us away.

I was lying on the horse like a sack of grain, very pathetic. When we escaped, they chased us on horseback, and since then, I…”

Bian Yingning took a few steps back, looking scared: “…developed a phobia of horses.”

Shang Qingfeng, who happened to overhear their conversation while catching up with Bian Yingning at Ouyang Fei’s behest: …

He didn’t know about this twist in the story.

Finding a horse is harder than finding a car now. What kind of kidnappers use horses?

But Hua Cancan, unlike Shang Qingfeng, didn’t know this. She believed it, imagining Bian Yingning gagged and tearful in a sack, bouncing along on a horse: “Like that…”

Bian Yingning sighed heavily: “I used to love horseback riding. Even if I fell, I’d get back up. Now, seeing a horse… even though I look calm, my legs are shaking.”

Hua Cancan looked down and saw Bian Yingning’s legs trembling.

“…” The listener was moved to tears.

“Then…” Hua Cancan felt something was wrong but couldn’t put her finger on it.

Just then, Shang Qingfeng stepped forward, rescuing Bian Yingning: “Miss Bian, I heard about what happened. I know a little about psychology. Let me help you overcome this phobia.”

Bian Yingning’s eyes lit up: “Great!”

Overcoming a phobia? Teaching her to ride would be better.

So Bian Yingning happily followed Shang Qingfeng, giving Hua Cancan a wink.

Hurry, hurry, don’t expose my lie.

Hua Cancan frowned, watching the two walk away, feeling a pang in her heart. She dismounted and followed them.

No way. Best friends should be single together. What does she think she’s doing, flirting in front of me? In her dreams.

The scene ended with Bian Yingning standing by a horse, listening to Shang Qingfeng explain how to overcome psychological fear, while facing Hua Cancan’s intense gaze.

Bian Yingning: “…Aren’t you going to play?”

Hua Cancan tugged at her riding crop: “I’ll wait for you to overcome your fear.”

Bian Yingning: “…It might take a while.”

One lie requires another to cover it up.

With her sharp intuition, if she were discovered to be incapable of things the original character could do, what would happen?

It felt like her disguise was about to be blown.

Bian Yingning trembled.

Shang Qingfeng didn’t know why Bian Yingning refused to play with Hua Cancan, but he “thoughtfully” suggested she try riding a horse. Actions speak louder than words.

Looking at the horse, almost taller than her, Bian Yingning looked around: “I can try, but can I… change horses?”

Falling from this horse would hurt.

“Wait, I’ll get you another horse.” Shang Qingfeng went to the stables.

Bian Yingning looked at his tall figure and sighed: “These siblings are so different. Look at this brother, so gentle and considerate.”

Hua Cancan frowned: “Are you saying I’m not considerate enough as a friend?”

Bian Yingning: “?” Why are you so quick to jump to conclusions?

The next second, Hua Cancan pushed Bian Yingning towards her chestnut horse.

A groom had been holding the horse since she dismounted.

“Get on.”

Bian Yingning, forced to get on the horse: “What are you… trying to hurt me?”

Hua Cancan rolled her eyes, got on her horse first, making room for Bian Yingning, and held out her hand:

“Come on. As friends, we share joys and sorrows. I’ll personally take you for a couple of laps.”

She didn’t believe any psychological trauma could make someone who used to ride confidently afraid to even get on a horse.

Looking at the outstretched hand, Bian Yingning couldn’t help but feel moved.

She hesitantly reached out, then stopped: “Wait, I haven’t changed clothes yet.”

She was wearing pink wide-leg pants and a black T-shirt, clashing with Hua Cancan’s attire.

“Don’t bother, you won’t die.” Hua Cancan grabbed Bian Yingning and pulled her onto the horse.

Bian Yingning couldn’t resist. The groom was very helpful, almost throwing her onto the horse.

Pulled and lifted, Bian Yingning finally understood what it meant to be helpless.

She was lifted onto the saddle, sitting sideways in Hua Cancan’s lap.
