“Ningning, tell me what’s wrong with this girl?”

Ouyang Fei, holding three cups of tea, placed one before Bian Yingning and gently inquired.

Bian Yingning quickly accepted it, softly thanking her before saying, “Auntie, you should ask Shang Qinghui.”

She feared saying the wrong thing and facing another cold reception. It was too upsetting.

At this, Shang Qinghui glared at her.

Bian Yingning: “…”

She felt so miserable.

Ouyang Fei smiled at Bian Yingning but immediately frowned at Shang Qinghui.

“You unfilial girl, tell me why you’re giving Ningning, such a well-behaved girl, a hard time?”

Shang Qinghui, arms crossed, turned away, “Heh, she’s ungrateful. I saw her clothes were soaked, so I kindly offered her a shower and clothes in my room. And what did she do? She was picky, complaining about my clothes and taste. What’s that called? Ahh, the farmer and the snake?”

Bian Yingning gritted her teeth. Was she too petty? She felt Shang Qinghui was subtly mocking her.

Aside from the clothes, what did “no taste” mean? Did it mean that she had no taste for liking her and being with her?

That was unbearable.

“Bullshit! Do you know why my clothes are soaked?” Bian Yingning retorted loudly.

Ouyang Fei’s expression was subtle. She seemed to feel personally attacked by the increasingly vulgar language.

Bian Yingning, oblivious to Ouyang Fei’s thoughts, continued to glare at Shang Qinghui, “If you hadn’t pulled me, would I have fallen into the pool? Would my clothes be wet? You’re so vicious! If I couldn’t swim and drowned, who would I get revenge on?”

“Stop it,” Ouyang Fei quickly said, “Don’t talk about death.” The accusation was too serious.

They couldn’t afford to bear the consequences.

The Bian family was now highly sought after, after all.

Becoming a prominent family might require time and opportunity.

But reaching a position connected to the “nation” wasn’t something that could be achieved simply through time and effort.

She was already worried that the Bian family might surpass the Shang family in H City. The Shang family had held their position for so long that they had become complacent and forgotten the importance of vigilance.

“You can’t swim? Don’t you know if you can swim or not?” Remembering being “tricked” into saving her, being terrified, only to be groped in the water and unable to escape, Shang Qinghui felt her anger rising.

“Of course, I know if I can swim, but what if I couldn’t?” I kindly tried to pull her up, and she pulled me into the water.

How embarrassing.

“The deepest part of the pool is less than two meters. I was at the edge. Even if you couldn’t swim, with me there, you wouldn’t die!”

“So, you mean you can push someone into the pool as long as they don’t die?” Bian Yingning asked, raising an eyebrow.

Shang Qinghui was stunned; her aggressive words disappeared.

Ouyang Fei understood and quickly mediated, “Okay, you two, control your tempers. What grudges could there be between friends? Qinghui, apologize to Ningning.”

Then she said to Bian Yingning, “Ningning, forgive Qinghui this time. Let’s forget about it.”

Continuing the argument would benefit no one. It was better to reconcile.

She wished she hadn’t come back.

“I…” A hint of remorse flashed across Shang Qinghui’s face. But she had to admit that Bian Yingning’s last words hit home.

Her actions… might have been playful, but to outsiders, they were excessive.

Was Bian Yingning really angry?

“What are you doing? Ningning isn’t even mad!” Ouyang Fei gestured to her.

Shang Qinghui looked at Bian Yingning, who pouted at Ouyang Fei, making a gesture that she was unhappy and wanted a kiss.

Seeing this, Shang Qinghui’s gloomy mood lifted. Hmph, it’s just an apology.

Shang Qinghui was about to speak when Bian Yingning interrupted, “Auntie, it’s not just Shang Qinghui’s fault. I’m also at fault. Apologizing would only hurt our feelings. We’ve fought before, and we’ll fight again. Don’t worry about it.”

Ouyang Fei smiled, praising Bian Yingning’s maturity, ignoring the “we’ll fight again” part.

“It’s just a little quarrel between girls.” Ouyang Fei stood up, “I have something to do. I just came to get something and tell Qinghui that her father and I won’t be back tonight.”

Shang Qinghui nodded, saying nothing.

Ouyang Fei chatted with Bian Yingning, inviting her to stay the night. After their polite exchange, Ouyang Fei went upstairs.

Bian Yingning watched her back. She was a capable hostess, knowing when to be warm and when to withdraw.

But the important thing was…

Bian Yingning breathed a sigh of relief, “Did we… escape a disaster?”

She asked Shang Qinghui.

Shang Qinghui, since Ouyang Fei left, had been acting aloof, ignoring Bian Yingning.

Bian Yingning frowned, thinking about how to confront Shang Qinghui after Ouyang Fei left.

“Grrr…” A quiet rumble echoed in the silent living room.

Bian Yingning looked at Shang Qinghui. Some people might seem aloof, but their stomachs still rumble?

After the rumble, Shang Qinghui stiffened, holding her stomach…

“Grrr…” Another rumble.

Bian Yingning smirked.

Shang Qinghui saw it and blushed.

Apparently, the most unhideable secrets, besides uncontrollable coughs and love that shows in the eyes, include a rumbling stomach.

“What are you laughing at? Haven’t you ever seen someone hungry?!” Shang Qinghui retorted.

She hadn’t had much appetite today.

She only drank some coffee from the afternoon tea, which made her even hungrier.

Fortunately, her stomach hadn’t rumbled when Bian Yingning pinched her waist.
