Before ringing the Shang family doorbell, Bian Yingning used her phone’s front-facing camera to examine herself.

Hmm… her makeup was mostly gone, but luckily her base was good; eyebrows and lipstick were enough.

Her hair was also neatly combed, no problem.

So, Bian Yingning called Shang Qinghui while ringing the doorbell.

Shang Qinghui didn’t answer, but the door opened.

“Hello, I’m Bian Yingning. I’m here to see Shang Qinghui,” Bian Yingning said to the butler who opened the door, nodding in greeting.

“Miss Bian,” the butler bowed politely.

As a butler, he’d heard rumors about the families. Though he doubted Bian Yingning’s claim of “visiting Shang Qinghui,” he remained professional.

He didn’t voice his doubts.

“Miss Shang is swimming in the back garden pool. Please wait; I’ll—”

Walking inside, the butler explained Shang Qinghui’s whereabouts.

“No need. Just tell me how to get there. I’ll find her myself,” Bian Yingning declined his offer.

The butler hesitated. Had their relationship improved?

But this was the Shang residence. Even with a grudge, Bian Yingning wouldn’t dare do anything to Shang Qinghui here… probably.

The butler explained the route, planning to have some staff nearby in case they fought.

Following the directions, Bian Yingning observed the Shang residence.

Wealthy families’ villas were similar—pools, gardens, lawns.

But the Shang residence was more Western in style, lighter and more delicate than the Bian residence’s heavier, antique feel.

After a while, Bian Yingning reached the garden.

She saw a blue pool surrounded by flowers and trees, obscuring the view.

A small fountain was running, creating a splashing sound.

Bian Yingning walked closer to the pool’s edge.

A mermaid, in a light blue swimsuit, swam gracefully.

Round after round, seemingly tireless.

Her figure was excellent.

Her long legs moved gracefully, her curves captivating. She wore a matching hat, her hair tucked inside.

Exhausted, she stopped, pulling off her goggles when a shadow fell over her.

Shang Qinghui looked up, meeting Bian Yingning’s smiling eyes.

“Great lung capacity?”

She’d swum for a long time.

The triangle-style halter swimsuit barely covered anything.

Having just surfaced, her skin has goosebumps from the cold.

Shang Qinghui was still breathing heavily. Seeing Bian Yingning, she was startled, then frowned, “Who allowed you in?”

Bian Yingning frowned too, “You’ve been to my room. I can’t visit your house? You’re so stingy! Don’t you understand reciprocity?”

Shang Qinghui gritted her teeth, “Aren’t you with your best friend? What are you doing here?”

She emphasized “best friend.”

“I come and go as I please. Are you telling me what to do?” Bian Yingning acted arrogant, extending her hand towards Shang Qinghui.

Shang Qinghui’s eyes fell on Bian Yingning’s palm; she smirked, grabbing her wet hand.

Bian Yingning smiled, about to pull Shang Qinghui up, when she felt a downward force.

Before she could scream, Shang Qinghui pulled her into the pool.

Shang Qinghui calmly climbed out, leaving Bian Yingning struggling in the water.

“Kid… gurgle…!”

“Kid… gurgle…!”

“I can’t swim!”

“Help—gurgle…”

Shang Qinghui, reaching the edge, saw Bian Yingning surface, then sink again, leaving large bubbles.

Did Bian Yingning not know how to swim?

Before she could think, her body reacted faster.

Shang Qinghui dove back into the pool.

Reaching the submerged Bian Yingning, Shang Qinghui was about to pull her up when Bian Yingning’s eyes suddenly opened.

Shang Qinghui was startled. Before she could react, she was pulled closer.

Her head was held, and soft lips pressed against hers.

Enlarged eyes met another pair of eyes.

The smile in those eyes told her she’d been tricked.

Shang Qinghui, furious, tried to push her away.

But their movements were slow in the water. Instead of pushing her away, she touched something soft.

Shang Qinghui’s mind went blank. It was shock and lack of oxygen.

When she reacted, Bian Yingning was searching for air in her mouth!

She wanted to breathe, but her mouth was blocked. Bian Yingning gently grazed her lower lip with her teeth.

Again and again, lightly, but it tickled, making her body tingle.

Shang Qinghui tightened her grip, feeling the “little bun” she’d mocked.

Bian Yingning was wearing more clothes, but Shang Qinghui could still feel it.

Shang Qinghui seemed to hear Bian Yingning make a sound.

She thought she was hallucinating. How could she hear her in the water?

Thinking Bian Yingning would let go, she did, but not completely.

Her hand slid down Bian Yingning’s neck, and her thin swimsuit offered no resistance.

A flip.

One breast was exposed in the water.

Shang Qinghui’s scalp tingled.

The subsequent actions made her forget how to move in the water.

She was held in Bian Yingning’s arms.

A light grip, pressing, squeezing.

Places she’d never been touched before were being played with.

…

When they surfaced, they were both breathless, as if they’d nearly died.

They lay side-by-side on the edge of the shallow pool, gasping for air.

Shang Qinghui’s swimsuit was adjusted; only her bright red lips showed any sign of the struggle.

“Are you crazy?!” Shang Qinghui shouted hoarsely.

For a moment, she thought she’d drown.

She thought if she died with Bian Yingning in the pool, disheveled, she’d be ashamed even as a ghost.

“Heh.” Bian Yingning, still immersed in the thrill, hadn’t recovered.

Her eyes were slightly red from the water, adding to her allure.

Bian Yingning, seeing Shang Qinghui’s vulnerable state, gently poked her cheek.

This reminded Shang Qinghui of something; she blushed and slapped Bian Yingning’s hand away.

“Don’t touch me!”

“I’m touching my kid. What’s it to you? If you’re not happy, touch yourself.”

Bian Yingning said this confidently.

Shang Qinghui wanted to push her back into the water.

“You tricked me!” Shang Qinghui gritted her teeth.

Thinking Bian Yingning couldn’t swim and would drown, she’d saved her, but Bian Yingning had “repaid” her like this.

The strange feeling on her chest lingered.

“How did I trick you?” Bian Yingning asked innocently.

“You said you couldn’t swim,” Shang Qinghui accused.

“Ah?” Bian Yingning’s expression was even more innocent, “Didn’t I say ‘your dad can’t swim’? Did you admit I’m your dad?”

Shang Qinghui was stunned, then closed her eyes, shouting, “Bian Yingning, get out!”

The butler, nearby, touched his nose and looked up, “Miss Shang probably doesn’t know he brought her there.”

He knew they hadn’t gotten along for over ten years. How could their relationship suddenly improve?

Bian Yingning pouted, mimicking Shang Qinghui, “You’re so cold. You yelled at me. You felt me up and told me to leave. You’re so mean!”

Shang Qinghui: “?”

“You know who felt who up.”

Bian Yingning nodded,

“You’re right. I don’t know who suddenly grabbed my chest. I was wearing three layers of clothing, and she still did that. A beast.”

Shang Qinghui bit her lip, “Don’t… don’t twist things around.”

It was an accident. Her actions afterward were intentional.

“Miss Shang? Afternoon tea is ready. Should I bring it to you?”

The butler’s voice interrupted them.

He was afraid something would happen.

Bian Yingning and Shang Qinghui stopped arguing.

“No need. Bring it… to my room,” Shang Qinghui glanced at Bian Yingning’s wet clothes, grabbing a bathrobe from a lounge chair.

Looking back, she saw Bian Yingning, still in the pool, leaning on her hand, watching her.

She must have been watching her put on the bathrobe.

Shang Qinghui’s face darkened, “What are you looking at?”

Bian Yingning looked away, seemingly thinking.

Shang Qinghui expected some cheesy line, like “Looking at my kid.”

But she said, “I wasn’t looking. You’re mistaken.”

Shang Qinghui: “?”

No one would believe that.
