Bian Yingning never expected Shang Qinghui’s first words to be an invitation to buy her milk tea.

…She’s my nemesis, isn’t she?

Fine, milk tea is milk tea, but why now? Doesn’t she know I’m… broke?

Normally, I’d treat her to anything, even gold.

But things are different now. Times have changed.

Bian Yingning thought sadly.

Looking around, most of her classmates had left, but a few lingered, glancing at them.

Their ears were perked.

“Let’s go,” Bian Yingning said to Shang Qinghui.

Shang Qinghui, hands in her pockets, followed her downstairs.

As they walked, Bian Yingning handed her the cream puffs she’d made, a whole bunch.

“Forget milk tea. It’s high in sugar and bad for you. Girls shouldn’t drink too much milk tea.

Drink more hot water; it goes well with cream puffs. These are homemade; the teacher loved them, and my classmates wanted more!”

Shang Qinghui looked down at the food.

The white packaging wasn’t transparent, but she could see the yellowish contents.

She subtly frowned.

She didn’t like milk tea, but… remembering last night…

Shang Qinghui puffed out her cheeks, reluctantly taking them, “Milk tea is milk tea, cream puffs are cream puffs. Hot water goes with cream puffs, and so does milk tea.”

Meaning she wanted both cream puffs and milk tea.

Penniless Bian Yingning: “…”

“That’s not good. They’re high in sugar. How can you have cream puffs and milk tea? That’s sinful!”

Shang Qinghui glanced at her calmly, “I’m not afraid of getting fat.”

Bian Yingning: “…Not afraid of getting fat. That’s fine.”

“But milk tea can wait. I don’t have any money now,” Bian Yingning finally admitted her predicament.

Even a skilled cook can’t cook without rice. Shang Qinghui asking Bian Yingning for milk tea was difficult because Bian Yingning had no money.

Shang Qinghui’s eyes suddenly changed, “You can say this without blushing?”

The sole heir of the Bian family can’t even afford milk tea? Is the Bian family going bankrupt?

Bian Yingning felt wronged, “I’m not lying. I really have no money. I’m… grounded.”

She directly asked for milk tea without considering her situation. She’s not considerate at all.

Shang Qinghui, seeing that she didn’t seem to be lying, was slightly surprised. …But “grounded” isn’t used like that.

“Why don’t you have money?”

Bian Yingning looked dejected, “My allowance is stopped.”

Shang Qinghui almost laughed.

Her lips curled up, then she suppressed it.

Remembering her cries that night, it must have been about this.

She wanted to avoid causing trouble and settle for the cream puffs.

As Shang Qinghui opened the bag and took out a cream puff, she changed her mind.

Seeing the cream leaking from the cream puff, Shang Qinghui: “?”

She put it back and took out another… half a… thing that could barely be called a cream puff.

Shang Qinghui: “???”

“These are the cream puffs the teacher loved, and the classmates wanted more?”

Shang Qinghui asked slowly.

Bian Yingning pointed at her fingers, “I can’t help it. The perfect ones were taken by the teacher… for… something.

The rest are… defective… or second-grade.”

Looking at the oddly shaped things that could barely be called cream puffs, Shang Qinghui’s face turned serious. She felt she was being dismissed. She shoved the bag back at Bian Yingning, arms crossed, “Didn’t you always say you’d treat me to milk tea? I want milk tea now. You figure it out.”

Bian Yingning held the cream puffs she’d painstakingly made, “…You know the saying, ‘Missed chances are gone,’ right?”

She was being unreasonable.

“Never heard of it.”

Asking for milk tea but giving her these scraps?

Bian Yingning: “…Do you think I can sell these cream puffs to buy you milk tea?”

Shang Qinghui was shocked.

“Don’t you have any self-awareness?”

Even dogs might refuse them.

Bian Yingning: …!

But saying it so bluntly was hurtful.

They walked past the school’s commercial street.

“Then…” Shang Qinghui looked around furtively, her expression unchanged.

“Hmm?” Bian Yingning waited for her to continue.

“How did you pay for your milk tea yesterday?” She spoke quickly, avoiding eye contact.

It seemed like a casual question.

Shang Qinghui suddenly remembered that if Bian Yingning’s card was frozen and she couldn’t afford milk tea, how could she treat Ji Xiaoxue yesterday?

“Oh, that? My Junior treated me,” Bian Yingning said casually.

Seeing Shang Qinghui’s silence, she looked over. Shang Qinghui was looking down, lost in thought.

“Wh…what’s wrong?”

Shang Qinghui looked up, “You let a Junior treat you to milk tea?”

Bian Yingning felt guilty, “It’s okay, I’ll treat her back later!”

“No need. I’ll generously pay for it.”

Bian Yingning’s eyes lit up, “Shang Qinghui, you’re a good person.”

Shang Qinghui smiled slightly, “Yes, so which milk tea shop do you want to go to?”

Bian Yingning: “…”

…

Bian Yingning took Shang Qinghui to a nearby Bian family restaurant.

The waiter didn’t recognize Bian Yingning and politely invited her in.

Bian Yingning swaggered in and called out, “Get your manager.”

“Ah?” The waiter was confused. Had I done something wrong? Why did this person want the manager?

“You can tell me your needs,” the waiter said sweetly.

They couldn’t call the manager for everyone.

“Okay, do you have a lot of cash today? Bring it all over here,” Bian Yingning said softly.

“Ah?”

The waiter was stunned, “Rob… robbing the restaurant?”

“Pfft.”

Shang Qinghui laughed.

Bian Yingning: “…”

Seeing the waiter trembling and about to run, Bian Yingning said, “I’m the owner. Get the manager.”

The waiter was even more shocked.

“Ow… owner?”

…

Bian Yingning got a private room.

Three dishes and a soup were on the table. Shang Qinghui ate casually, occasionally looking at the others.

The manager opened a metal box for Bian Yingning, who counted the money.

“How much should I take?” Bian Yingning asked Shang Qinghui.

“Whatever you want,” her card wasn’t frozen.

“A few thousand should be enough,” Bian Yingning wasn’t greedy.

The manager just smiled.

After getting the money and eating, Bian Yingning took Shang Qinghui to buy milk tea.

“Which shop do you want? Any shop, any amount. I have money,” Bian Yingning said confidently.

Who would connect her current self with her earlier timid self?

Shang Qinghui chose the most expensive shop. They had been together for almost three hours.

“Should I take you home?”

They had milk tea and a meal; there was no reason to stay together.

Shang Qinghui looked at Bian Yingning, then at her pink supercar, “Are you hinting that I should take you home?”

Bian Yingning nodded while drinking her milk tea.

It was obvious; Shang Qinghui had driven, and her driver wasn’t there.

Shang Qinghui silently took her to the car.

The car’s chassis was low; she felt like she was sinking into it.

“Hmm… your car is comfortable,” Bian Yingning said after closing the door.

Shang Qinghui put her milk tea in the center console, fastened her seatbelt, and noticed the car alarm was going off.

She looked at Bian Yingning, “Fasten your seatbelt.”

Bian Yingning realized it and tried to fasten her seatbelt but couldn’t.

“What’s wrong? I didn’t have trouble earlier,” Bian Yingning was puzzled.

Shang Qinghui: “…” It had only been a few minutes; she hadn’t even fastened her seatbelt, and the alarm had been going off the whole time.

“There’s a slot; it might be stuck. Press it to release it,” Shang Qinghui said, preparing to drive.

But Bian Yingning couldn’t fix it.

Their homes were in a hillside villa area; it was a long drive, and seatbelts were safer.

Bian Yingning gave up, “Is your seatbelt broken?”

Shang Qinghui was furious.

This was a new car, her favorite, and she dared to say it was broken? Who could tolerate that?

“Are you doing this on purpose? Your car is the one that’s broken!”

Shang Qinghui unfastened her seatbelt, leaning over to check.

Bian Yingning, looking at the seatbelt, turned around when Shang Qinghui spoke.
