Let me know what you think! Rate and comment if you liked it, otherwise, no worries."

Shang Qinghui propped her chin on her hands, quietly watching Bian Yingning.

Bian Yingning: “…”

Stop looking, it’s useless.

“Are you free on Saturday?” Shang Qinghui changed the subject.

“No,” Bian Yingning replied without hesitation.

Shang Qinghui looked at her, seemingly thinking.

Bian Yingning, unable to help it, took out her phone and carefully checked her schedule, proving she wasn’t lying.

“I have to go to a nearby city to inspect a newly opened hotel. My dad wants me to check on it in person because it’s not doing well.”

“S City?”

“Yes.”

“Perfect.”

“…” What’s perfect? Don’t tell me you’re going to S City too?

Shang Qinghui’s gaze confirmed her suspicion.

“What are you doing there?”

Shang Qinghui sniffed. The barbecue was charcoal-grilled, and the smoky aroma was enticing.

She took a ticket from her bag and handed it to Bian Yingning, “I have a competition there on Saturday, come and watch.”

It was a statement, not a question.

“Why?” Bian Yingning took the ticket and looked at it; it was a solo dance final.

“Why what?”

“Why should I go watch?”

“Because I gave you the ticket.”

Bian Yingning considered this logic; for a moment, she found it impeccable.

“Remember to come.” Shang Qinghui reminded her as Bian Yingning put away the ticket.

Bian Yingning looked up at her, “What about your friends?”

The original owner probably never imagined she would have such a harmonious moment with Shang Qinghui.

Eating late-night snacks together in the autumn breeze after class, agreeing to watch her dance competition…

“They have their own things to do,” Shang Qinghui said indifferently.

Bian Yingning frowned, “What’s more important than your competition?” They must be fake friends.

“Life.”

Bian Yingning fell into thought.

The question of “life” is really too philosophical.

“Besides that?”

“Mm… mainly because there’s only one ticket.”

Bian Yingning: “…What kind of organizer is so stingy?”

“Huayang Media.”

Oh, Hua Cancan’s family, then it’s fine.

“Good, family tickets for contestants shouldn’t be given out randomly. It’s a waste; selling them could attract attention and promote the event, a win-win situation.”

As Bian Yingning spoke, she saw Shang Qinghui counting on her fingers.

“What are you doing?”

“I’m calculating how many tickets you’d need to bring all your friends if you were a contestant.”

“Hua Cancan, Ji Xiaoxue, Jiang Jiaotao, enough for a mahjong table.”

Bian Yingning was shocked, “What do you mean?!”

“You mean I’m your only good friend?!”

“That’s not right, this is too fast. Do you think you don’t owe me a favor just because we’re good friends? I won’t agree!”

When the owner delivered the grilled food, he saw Bian Yingning stubbornly talking to Shang Qinghui.

Shang Qinghui, seeing the owner’s indescribable expression, reassured him, “Don’t worry, she doesn’t bite.”

Although she seemed a little strange, she still had some rationality left.

After finishing the barbecue, everyone went home.

The system had already calculated Bian Yingning’s points.

[Mission to prevent the gold-digging girl from succeeding, Completion: 100%, Points earned: 200]

[‘Fighting Little Expert’ skill used, Host points: -100]

[‘Paralyzing Pill’ used, Host points: -80]

“Because the host attempted to eliminate characters to complete the mission, the system will deduct 80% of the points earned in this mission. Please learn from this.”

Eighty percent? The total points for this mission were only 200. After deducting the skills and pills, and the penalty… it’s three years of work for nothing.

System: “…Host, you haven’t been here for a year, where did the three years come from?”

Bian Yingning was dejected, “You don’t understand.”

It truly didn’t understand; it was a machine without emotions.

[Host’s current Painting Rosy Picture skill: 105, Congratulations on upgrading to Painting Rosy Picture Expert, 100 points awarded, Host total points: 2089, Current level: Painting Rosy Picture Expert, Experience: 5]

If she hadn’t accumulated so many points, she would have given up long ago; otherwise, she would have quit already.

The points kept decreasing, who could stand it!

“What did you find out about Nangong Jin?” Bian Yingning asked the system, “Didn’t you say I shouldn’t reveal my identity? That night… Nangong Jin must have suspected me, does that not matter?”

“Regarding Nangong Jin, he seems to have recovered some memories… He seems to be a ‘reincarnated’ person.”

“Reincarnated?” Bian Yingning sensed something was wrong, but she didn’t expect…

“How could he be reincarnated? As a domineering CEO, shouldn’t he be successful? Why would he need to be reborn?”

“The original novel ends when the male and female leads get together. No one knows what happened after that.”

Bian Yingning’s arrival in this world was already strange. Compared to that, Nangong Jin’s reincarnation wasn’t so unbelievable.

“Since he’s an extra factor, revealing your identity is fine, but the host can’t do this again.” The system’s tone was slightly resentful.

Bian Yingning remained unmoved, “Shouldn’t you compensate me? Like striking him with lightning?”

System: “…”

“This is difficult for me.”

Bian Yingning almost said, “Pay me more then.”

“Dear host, my mission is to save the female supporting characters. You’ve done well, don’t worry about the male lead. I don’t have the power to decide others’ lives.

But I need to remind you that the male lead’s existence is a prerequisite for your mission. Without him, you won’t need to continue.”

“Heh.” Bian Yingning smiled faintly.

“Host, don’t worry, the system will distribute missions according to the original plot points. You only need to complete the missions related to the female supporting characters.”

Bian Yingning nodded slightly.

In other words, as long as she changed the female supporting characters’ fates at those specific times, other deviations from the original plot would be considered mission completion.

…

It was past eleven when she got home. Auntie Zhuo gave Bian Yingning slippers and gave her a look.

Bian Yingning saw Bian’s parents sitting on the sofa, seemingly waiting for her.

Pausing, Bian Yingning stood at the entrance, considering running away.

“Standing there like a door god?” Bian’s mother didn’t look at her, taking a sip of tea.

Seeing she had been discovered, Bian Yingning entered, smiling, “Dad, Mom, why aren’t you sleeping yet? Mom, why are you drinking tea at this time? You won’t be able to sleep later.”

Regardless of Bian Yingning’s cheerful demeanor, the elders remained serious.

“With you around, I can’t sleep even if I don’t drink tea.”

Bian Yingning scratched her neck, “Mom, I just had barbecue with my classmate. I’m a grown-up, why are you still worried?”

“You know you’re not a child anymore? I feel like I’m dealing with a three-year-old,” Bian Jiageng said.

Bian Yingning thought, she hadn’t done anything wrong these days, diligently studying and working.

“Maybe it’s because children are always babies in their parents’ eyes?”

Bian’s mother: “…”

Bian’s father: “…”

Seeing Bian Yingning feigning ignorance, they stopped hiding it. Bian’s father said sternly, “What’s going on between you and Nangong Jin?”

Bian Yingning’s expression changed, sitting opposite them, “What’s going on?”

She couldn’t escape this.

“What’s your entanglement with him?” Bian Jiageng became angrier, “You beat him up, hit his head, do you know how fragile the head is? He has a concussion, almost ended up in the ICU…”

“What do you mean ‘beat him up’!” Bian’s mother interrupted, “Wasn’t our daughter beaten too? It’s not just our fault!”

Then they started arguing about whose fault it was.

Bian Yingning: “…Auntie Zhuo, get me some tea too.”

When they finally realized they were here to reprimand Bian Yingning, she was already dozing off.

“Bian Yingning!” Bian’s mother shouted.

Bian Yingning startled, “What’s wrong?”

“Tell us what happened!” Bian’s mother almost pointed at Bian Yingning’s nose.

Bian Yingning took a sip of tea, “Nothing, we were drunk and fought.”

Neither she nor Nangong Jin had gained anything. Hua Cancan had started the fight.

Her conflict with Nangong Jin couldn’t be revealed.

“Did he bully you? Did he say… anything offensive?” Bian Jiageng asked tentatively.

He wondered if Nangong Jin had said something insulting or touched Bian Yingning, causing the fight.

Bian Yingning was silent, her head lowered.

Bian’s father thought he was right, slamming the chair, “That bastard, what’s wrong with you? Why didn’t you kill him?”

Bian Yingning: “???” That’s not what you said before.

Bian’s mother’s chest heaved, “Disgusting, I felt guilty when I saw his family, he’s not worth it.”

Then they glared at Bian Yingning, “Why didn’t you tell us? We can solve anything. Just study, we’ll handle the rest!”

Bian Yingning suppressed her joy and listened obediently.

Although she wasn’t the one insulted by Nangong Jin, it was almost the same.
