Bian Yingning discovered something new.

Shang Qinghui had removed her from her blacklist.

While she didn’t know why Shang Qinghui suddenly had a change of heart, that wasn’t the point.

Here’s what happened—

One night, Bian Yingning, tossing and turning in her luxurious bed, trying to figure out how to earn more points, finally gave up on sleep and opened WeChat. The moment she did, she saw a small red dot in the “Discover” section.

Her obsessive-compulsive disorder compelled her to click it. She saw a familiar yet vaguely unrecognizable pink profile picture in the top Friends Moments section.

Clicking on it, she saw the remark “Shang Family Brat.”

Shang Family Brat:

[If MM wins the Sparkling Goddess Award, I’ll run naked at midnight!]

Bian Yingning’s eyes widened. She didn’t expect a rich girl to make such a bold promise. She immediately took a screenshot to send to Hua Cancan.

However, Shang Qinghui might have regretted it. After Bian Yingning took the screenshot, she refreshed the page, and the Friends Moment was gone.

The screenshot showed it was posted one minute ago; it was a quickly deleted post.

Luckily, she was quick. Bian Yingning gleefully showed Hua Cancan the screenshot, gossiping about Shang Qinghui’s promise.

Hua Cancan, a night owl, was naturally still awake.

A three-second voice message popped up.

Bian Yingning, unprepared, opened it. A deafening roar accompanied by thumping nightclub music blasted from her phone, causing her to drop it on the bed.

“Damn it, that bitch, she did it on purpose!”

After an all-night explanation from the system, Bian Yingning learned:

MM, whose real name is Mu Mu, was a former idol group member who later became an actress. She’s now a rising star, recently gaining immense popularity with a historical drama, hailed as the pinnacle of historical dramas, and nominated for the Sparkling Goddess Award alongside top actress Hua Jiangrong.

The competition for the Sparkling Goddess Award is fierce every year, and this year is no exception.

With veteran actress Hua Jiangrong and many rising stars, the Sparkling Goddess Award considers popularity, reputation, and work quality. It’s not just an award but a symbol of strength and popularity.

The award will be decided between Hua Jiangrong and Mu Mu.

Few in the entertainment industry know that Hua Jiangrong is the youngest daughter of the Hua family, the current CEO’s sister—Hua Cancan’s aunt.

Hua Cancan and Shang Qinghui don’t get along, and Shang Qinghui openly wished for Mu Mu’s victory on her Moments, which many mutual acquaintances saw.

Those in the industry know Hua Jiangrong’s identity. Shang Qinghui’s actions were a slap in the face to the Hua family.

No wonder Hua Cancan was so angry.

…

On the night of the Sparkling Goddess Award ceremony, Bian Yingning, who usually wasn’t interested in such events, watched the live broadcast.

Mu Mu won. Bian Yingning felt sorry for Hua Cancan’s aunt.

The moment the winner was announced, Bian Yingning messaged Shang Qinghui: “Brat, where can I watch you at midnight?”

She also sent her the screenshot of Shang Qinghui’s Moments.

Shang Qinghui replied almost instantly with a question mark.

Bian Yingning thought she was trying to back out because she didn’t specify a location.

After five minutes, Bian Yingning asked again:

“You’re not going to make me pay, are you?”

Then, she received a red exclamation mark and a system message: “Message sent, but rejected by the recipient.”

She was back on the blacklist?

So sad.

Interpersonal relationships are so difficult.

…

Bian Yingning finally understood why the teacher asked them to visit the cafeteria. The practical cooking class involved watching the cooks prepare large-scale meals!

Haicheng University, a top university, had excellent cafeteria food. Some chefs had reportedly worked at a restaurant with a tire in its name.

Bian Yingning watched the chef cook, picking up a piece of sweet and sour pork with a toothpick and eating it. It was delicious.

After tasting the food, the teacher asked them to help serve food, noting which dishes were most popular and asking students for reviews. They had to write reflections on three dishes for the next class.

Bian Yingning’s appetite vanished.

When eating becomes a task, there’s no joy.

Bian Yingning became a food server, putting on a uniform, hat, and mask, beginning her journey as a cafeteria worker.

“Wait, did I see that right?” Shang Qinghui, who hadn’t gone out for dinner because of a meeting, came to the cafeteria with her friends.

While queuing, one of her friends turned around:

“Is that Bian Yingning serving food? She looks just like her.”

Shang Qinghui, who was arguing with Hua Jiangrong’s fans on Weibo, looked up angrily.

The cafeteria worker, wearing a mask but revealing part of her face and familiar phoenix eyes, was Bian Yingning.

Even if she were reduced to ashes, Shang Qinghui would recognize Bian Yingning.

She heard Bian Yingning was taking a cooking course; she never expected her to be serving food in the cafeteria.

Shang Qinghui put away her phone, a smile playing on her lips, and joined the queue at the next window.

She had mocked Shang Qinghui the previous night; now, the tables had turned.

“Should we go over there?” Shang Qinghui’s friends asked.

“No need. We can’t help.”

That made sense. They could join the fun, but only Shang Qinghui dared to confront Bian Yingning.

Bian Yingning’s work became monotonous. She understood why cafeteria workers were shaky; seeing the food almost run out, she felt uneasy and wanted to give less.

She had become the “villain” in the eyes of her classmates.

“To go or eat here?” Bian Yingning asked the next student, tapping the food tray with a spoon.

Then she met Shang Qinghui’s arrogant gaze: “Eat here. This, that, and this. Thank you.”

Shang Qinghui, with her avocado-green nails, pointed to three dishes, a playful look in her eyes.

Bian Yingning, unfazed, served her food, saying, “Be quicker next time; many students are waiting.”

Heh, daring to make a promise but not fulfilling it, and blocking people. Did she think blocking could cover everything?

Shang Qinghui’s haughty expression faltered.

So Bian Yingning really thought of herself as a cafeteria lady, huh?

“That’s eleven fifty,” Bian Yingning placed the overflowing tray in front of Shang Qinghui.

Shang Qinghui gritted her teeth, smiling insincerely: “Make it twenty; the extra is a tip for you, Auntie.”

Bian Yingning keyed in the amount on the card machine: “No, the cafeteria won’t give me the extra. Just transfer the tip to my WeChat.”

She entered eleven fifty.

Shang Qinghui’s fists clenched. She angrily paid, carrying the heavy tray to her friends’ table, her face puffed up like a pufferfish. She glared at Bian Yingning.

But Bian Yingning was diligently serving others, smiling, completely ignoring her.

“Hey, has Bian Yingning been trying to curry favor with Qingqing lately?”

“Yeah, I think so too. She keeps trying to get Qingqing’s attention, and look at that food, it’s overflowing.”

“Right? I felt that too.”

They chattered away. Shang Qinghui lowered her head.

The food was piled high on her tray, especially the vegetables.

She ordered tomato and egg stir-fry, sweet and sour pork ribs, and stir-fried celery and carrots. Each dish usually occupied a small section, but now the dividers were invisible; there were mountains of eggs and ribs.

“We have tomato and egg stir-fry, but Qingqing’s is egg and tomato stir-fry.”

“Ah, I also ordered ribs, and I only got one, two, three… four pieces! Qingqing has… twelve? I’m crying. I should have gone to her window.”

“She’s deliberately trying to please Qingqing, right?”

Shang Qinghui listened to their discussion, picking up her chopsticks, her expression unchanged.

“You can start eating.”

“Yay!”

“I want the eggs!”

“Ribs, ribs! They’re all single-bone ribs!”

Her friends helped themselves generously.

Shang Qinghui picked up a rib and put it in her mouth.

She frowned.

Too sweet. Deserves a bad review.

…

In the back of the cafeteria, the teacher finally announced they could eat. Bian Yingning quickly put down her ladle: “Ah, so tired. Being a cafeteria lady is exhausting.” I’m not doing this in my next life.

Bian Yingning took a small bowl, scooped two mouthfuls of rice—barely covering the bottom of the bowl.

She added some vegetables and sat down next to a classmate who was close to the original owner.

Thinking of Shang Qinghui’s overflowing tray, Bian Yingning chuckled.

“I gave her a mountain of food to stuff her, while I secretly eat a little to lose weight.

She’ll get fat, and I’ll maintain my perfect figure. Watch me crush her!”
