Sheng Fei’s eyes were clear. “Although I didn’t put in full effort for them before, this money was earned by you. I won’t take it, I really plan to leave it for them.”

Lu Ting took the wallet from her hand and checked it, finding that there was still over two hundred yuan inside.

His monthly salary was only fifty to sixty yuan, so it would take him a long time to save this much.

“I’ve already given you the money, I’ll be leaving now.” Sheng Fei said and quietly walked out with her head lowered.

Lu Ting’s complicated gaze landed on Sheng Fei’s retreating back.

Just as her hand grasped the doorknob, Lu Ting finally spoke up, “Wait—”

Sheng Fei knew that he was hesitating, and turned back with a puzzled expression. “What?”

Lu Ting said, “You stay!”

Sheng Fei struggled with her gaze for a bit, then made a firm decision and assured him, “Thank you for giving me another chance. I will take good care of them until they grow up.”

So Sheng Fei stayed.

She rested in bed the whole morning, and when she woke up in the afternoon, she found a small mirror and examined her face closely. Her scalp was even tingling.

Is this her face?

She actually had gone to the county wearing this face?

The original owner had tried to imitate the makeup of the county girls, but without good cosmetics, she ended up with her eyebrows drawn with charcoal and lips smeared with red paper. As a result, her cheeks looked like a monkey’s butt, her lips seemed like she’d drunk chicken blood, with her eyebrows painted as thin as crayons.

Sheng Fei quickly washed off the makeup and scrubbed her face hard with soap for several rounds. She then looked in the mirror again.

Only to find that this face was actually the same as her own.

Since this body was only eighteen years old, it was more young and delicate. With refined eyebrows and eyes, rosy lips and a three-dimensional chin, she was simply perfect little beauty. She wondered what the original owner had been thinking to put on such messy makeup.

Sheng Fei went to the county and sold her braids, then got a short and messy haircut and put on a black cap. At 170 cm tall, if she wore men’s clothes and spoke with a low voice, she would be completely androgynous.

After making some purchases, Sheng Fei didn’t hurry back.

After returning the money to Lu Ting, he still didn’t fully trust her and had only left her a little money for daily necessities.

Sheng Fei rubbed her chin with her fingers, observing the pedestrians coming and going, and gradually formulated a plan in her mind.

She first went to the wholesale market and came out carrying large and small packages. The she went to a small store to buy some children’s circular toys. Finally, she found an open space with lots of people to set up her stall.

These days, unlicensed street vendors were everywhere, so Sheng Fei learned quickly.

She intentionally placed the few-cents small ornaments and toys at the very front, the 10-cent ones in the middle, and the several-yuan to tens-of-yuan decorations like Lucky Cat, Guan Gong (a small statue something) and Golden Toad on the back wall.

As Sheng Fei was setting up, she had already attracted some onlookers. Once she finished, the people and children gathered around her while chattering.

“Boss, how much is that keychain?”

“You’ve put the things so far back that no one can see them.”

One bold little girl tugged at Sheng Fei’s clothes and sweetly called, “Sister, how much is that little plush?”

Sheng Fei pretended to be mysterious and only said halfway, “These things are not for sale…”

The little girl’s mother in a bright blue dress heard this and puzzledly asked, “You’re such a strange boss. If you’re not selling anything, why set up a stall here?”
