The original owner didn’t know how formidable Lu Ting was. After Lu Yi died, she not only mistreated the five children, but also tried to seduce Lu Ting, only to be driven out of the room by him with no peace.

Yet she didn’t know that if it weren’t for the sake of Lu Yi, she would have died so many times.

Sheng Fei’s eyes darted around, her brain coming up with one strategy after another. In the end, she made up her mind. At worst, she would get kicked out.

She pretended to be calm and clasped her fingers together. “I was wrong.”

“Heh!” Li Ting snorted lightly, thinking that Sheng Fei was going to make excuses, but he didn’t expect her to admit it directly.

If Sheng Fei had argued, he could have found a way to torture her into telling the truth. But her sudden confession caught him off guard. With the tip of his tongue pressing against the roof of his mouth, he ruthlessly said, “Pack your things and get out of the Lu family.”

Sheng Fei’s mouth tasted bitter. As a woman with no one to rely on, being driven out would not only be humiliating, but also a problem for her survival. So she didn’t want to leave.

However, Sheng Fei didn’t speak. She walked pass Lu Ting and went back to her room.

Lu Ting thought that she would beg him, but she really packed up and left?

Was she that obedient?

Li Ting found it unbelievable.

He strode back to his own room. The Lu family had split up not long after the second sister-in-law Shen Qin married in.

The reason was that their mother didn’t like the second sister-in-law. Lu Ting and the second brother Lu Yi had a good relationship. So after the split, he lived with his second brother.

Now that his second brother and second sister-in-law had passed away, Lu Ting felt obligated to raise the five children.

He had no expectations of Sheng Fei.

After the second brother’s death, Sheng Fei could very well return to her own family.

After all, she wasn’t a blood relative.

But at that time, Sheng Fei  solemnly said that she had married into the Lu family, and the dead were the Lu family’s ghosts and she would not abandon the Lu family. That was why Lu Ting had let her stay, and had even given her most of his savings.

But Sheng Fei was hypocritical. She only pretended to be good to the five children.

It was just when he had just coaxed the children to sleep that they told him the truth.

Lu Ting could accept Sheng Fei being a little selfish, a little neglectful of the children, but he couldn’t accept her abusing the children. What kind of work could such young children do? It was so dangerous!

Wasn’t he just working so hard now for the future of the five children?

Lu Ting had just lay down on the bed for a short while when he heard footsteps and the sound of the door opening. His eyes darkened. He inwardly thought that Sheng Fei must not want to leave and was planning a dirty trick.

He deliberately pretended to be asleep and closed his eyes. He wanted to see what Sheng Fei was up to.

Sheng Fei frowned slightly in confusion. “Impossible, Lu Ting fell asleep so quickly? Lu Ting, Lu Ting, wake up…”

Lu Ting moved his eyes, pretending to have just been woken up. “What are you still doing here? Get out!”

Sheng Fei hesitated and took out an old wallet out of her pocket. She opened the wallet and revealed the money inside, “This money is all what you gave me. I haven’t spent much. I thought it would be hard for you to make money, so I saved it for the children’s tuition fees. Now that I’m leaving, you can keep it!”

Lu Ting’s eyes narrowed and his gaze swept over Sheng Fei’s face, not missing any of her small expression.

“Is this for the children?”

“Of course…” No, it’s not.

Sheng Fei looked genuinely sincere, but her heart was pounding. This money was of course not what the original owner left for the children but a backup for herself. But now that she wanted to stay, Sheng Fei could only resort to this tactic.

Lu Ting got up from the bed, his towering figure looming over Sheng Fei. He looked down at the woman in front of his chest, “You didn’t lie to me?”
