- Chapter 7 - You Belong to Me!
While Sang Jingli and Fu Qingyin were locked in an earth-shattering battle, Tang Yu was getting a little bored pretending to be unconscious.
Shi Yunyi had been holding onto him tightly, refusing to let go. The warmth of their bodies pressed together had made Tang Yu start to sweat slightly. He knew he probably didn’t smell great right now, blood mixed with sweat wasn’t exactly a pleasant scent.
Slowly, he opened his eyes, planning to tell Shi Yunyi to let go. But before he could, he found himself staring into those beautiful amethyst-like eyes.
Shi Yunyi’s eyes always looked different depending on his mood. When he smiled, they curved up slyly, like a little fox. But when he wasn’t smiling, they were round and innocent. Right now, they were filled with guilt and self-blame, making him look even more pure and vulnerable.
Tang Yu was momentarily stunned. Well, he was the male lead, naturally, his charm was off the charts.
“…Little junior brother, you can let go now. I’m filthy.” His voice came out hoarse, he hadn’t spoken in a while, and his throat was dry.
“Senior brother, you’re awake?” Instead of letting go, Shi Yunyi clung to him even tighter, burying his face into Tang Yu’s neck. “Don’t move, or your wounds will reopen…”
Tang Yu frowned slightly. Being held like this wasn’t exactly comfortable. But this was the male lead, he should take advantage of the moment to build up goodwill. His mission probably had something to do with Shi Yunyi, so making him less hostile could only be a good thing.
Shi Yunyi looked down at Tang Yu’s face. Whether from the warmth or the effects of the healing pill, Tang Yu’s complexion wasn’t as pale anymore. His cheeks were flushed, a few loose strands of hair falling onto his forehead. Because of his injuries, his body was weak, making him look even more fragile and beautiful.
Ever since Shi Yunyi had discovered that Tang Yu secretly watched him and even stole his clothes, he had been avoiding him like the plague. It had been a long time since he’d observed his senior brother from such a close distance.
Tang Yu, feeling uncomfortable under the intense gaze, wiped his face. “Is there something on my face?”
“You’re not dirty at all…” Shi Yunyi muttered softly.
That lunatic Sang Jingli had tormented him all day, how could he not be dirty? Shi Yunyi was clearly just comforting his savior out of gratitude.
“Senior brother…” Shi Yunyi’s gaze dropped to Tang Yu’s lips, and his face turned red. “You look really good…”
Tang Yu chuckled. “Thanks for the compliment, little junior brother!”
He was very confident in his looks. While wandering around the demonic palace earlier, he had even found a mirror to check himself out. With a bit of cleaning up, he was definitely handsome, not any worse than this male lead.
Though honestly, what was up with the original owner of this body? Why keep his hair so long that it covered his eyes? He had a perfectly nice forehead, why not show it off?
What a waste of good looks! As soon as I get back, I’m giving myself a proper, stylish haircut.
Shi Yunyi nodded, his face now red all the way down to his neck. ‘Senior brother really is different from everyone else.’
Even though he often stared at him like that, he never caused him trouble, never clung to him like the other disciples who professed their admiration. He had always kept his distance, watching silently from afar. The only thing he had ever done was steal his clothes to keep as mementos.
For years, Shi Yunyi had despised him and treated him coldly. But when he was captured, where were all those people who claimed to love him? None of them had come to save him. So why had he been rejecting someone like this?
‘Senior brother had risked his life twice to save me. If that wasn’t proof of sincerity, then what was? I almost lost such a person forever. But if I started liking senior brother now, maybe… it isn’t too late?’
Tang Yu had no idea what Shi Yunyi was thinking. Right now, he just wanted those two powerhouses in the sky to finish fighting so he could go back to the sect and figure out his next steps.
Boom! Another powerful clash. Sang Jingli landed heavily, clutching his chest. A demonic sect disciple hurried to support him.
“Damn it… not now…” he muttered through gritted teeth. His gaze swept past the crowd and landed on Tang Yu and Shi Yunyi, still holding onto each other.
Fu Qingyin landed in front of them, blocking Sang Jingli’s view. He kept his sword behind his back, his hand trembling slightly. “Sang Jingli, you’ve lost. Are you still going to continue?”
He wasn’t sure why, but Sang Jingli’s strength had suddenly weakened just now, allowing him to land a critical strike. But he himself was also at his limit. He looked fine on the surface, but he was running on fumes.
Sang Jingli was far stronger than he had expected. If they kept fighting, he wouldn’t come out unscathed. And this was the demonic sect’s territory, it wasn’t wise to drag things out.
Sang Jingli’s expression shifted. Then, he shoved the disciple away and sneered, “I’ll let you go this time. Now get out of my sect!”
Fu Qingyin exhaled in relief. Then Sang Jingli turned to Shi Yunyi. “Next time, you won’t be so lucky.”
Shi Yunyi and Tang Yu stiffened. A powerful pressure spread from all directions. Shi Yunyi quickly channeled his spiritual energy to shield Tang Yu from harm. Fu Qingyin also unleashed his power to counter Sang Jingli’s.
Meanwhile, Tang Yu was seething. ‘This damn bastard! Why is all this spiritual pressure aimed at me?!’
But that wasn’t even the worst part. Sang Jingli had just spoken to Shi Yunyi, but Tang Yu suddenly heard a voice in his head. That cold, sinister voice whispered directly into his mind, “Little thing, don’t forget what you said, you belong to me. If you disobey, no matter where you run, I’ll find you… and make you beg for death.”
The words echoed over and over, drilling into his skull like a cursed melody. Tang Yu’s body went rigid. His eyes met Sang Jingli’s from across the battlefield, catching the sharp glint in his gaze. Then, hurriedly, he looked away.
‘What the hell?! Why does this guy’s voice have built-in reverb?! Does he think he’s some kind of deep-voiced villainous heartthrob?! “You belong to me”? You belong to a freaking banana loudspeaker!’
Shi Yunyi also turned to look at Sang Jingli, his eyes burning with hatred. Sang Jingli was different from the other admirers. He was ruthless, shameless, willing to do anything to get what he wanted.
This time, senior brother had saved him. But what about next time and the time after that? He wouldn’t always be this lucky. And he didn’t want senior brother to keep getting hurt for him… Senior brother had already given up half his life for him. If he truly died, Shi Yunyi would never forgive himself. Sang Jingli had to die.
‘Not just die, he had to suffer the most excruciating death possible. Only then would he have atoned for what he did to senior brother!’
