- Chapter 6 - I Must Be Damn Guilty
Fu Qingyin furrowed his brows tightly. His usually gentle and jade-like face was now frozen with an icy coldness.
He had already lost Tang Yu, and yet Sang Jingli still dared to set his sights on Shi Yunyi? Did he think the Tianqing Sword Sect was his playground, where he could kill and take whatever he pleased? If this continued, how would their sect maintain its standing in the righteous path?
There was no way he could allow Sang Jingli’s schemes to succeed.
Shi Yunyi had just returned to the sect yesterday and had immediately told Fu Qingyin everything that had happened.
According to him, Tang Yu had likely met a grim fate. Sang Jingli was ruthless and vengeful, there was no way he would let Tang Yu off easily.
Fu Qingyin sighed inwardly. He knew that his young disciple was too kind and naive, easily deceived and taken advantage of. For now, he could only comfort Shi Yunyi and figure out a plan to deal with the situation. After all, Sang Jingli was not only ruthless but also terrifyingly powerful. Even Fu Qingyin himself wasn’t certain he could win against him.
“Sang Jingli, where exactly is Tang Yu?” Fu Qingyin’s frown deepened as he pondered.
From the start until now, Tang Yu had not been seen. This only reinforced Fu Qingyin’s suspicion that something terrible had already happened to him.
But when he met the hopeful gaze of his young disciple, his heart softened. Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to glare at Sang Jingli and snapped, “If you don’t hand over Tang Yu right now, don’t blame me for being merciless!”
“Merciless? Hah! With your measly skills, you dare speak such bold words?” Sang Jingli sneered in disdain, his lips curling mockingly. “Do you really think I would be afraid of you?”
Before he finished speaking, he suddenly thrust out his right hand. His five fingers clawed at the air, and in an instant, a massive, blood-red spectral hand materialized out of thin air, surging toward Fu Qingyin and Shi Yunyi with unstoppable force.
“Junior Brother, watch out!” A senior disciple nearby cried out in alarm.
At the same time, Fu Qingyin’s expression darkened. His sword flashed out of its sheath, sending a sharp wave of sword energy slicing toward Sang Jingli. With his left hand, he swiftly conjured a transparent shield, securely protecting Shi Yunyi behind him.
Just as the devastating attack was about to land, a figure suddenly appeared in front of Shi Yunyi. His clothes were tattered, and his figure was thin and frail. A weak voice spoke, “Junior Brother, don’t be afraid… I’m here…”
Shi Yunyi froze. The person standing before him, it was him. The very same person who had risked his life just yesterday, shoving a teleportation talisman into his hands and forcing him to escape.
“Senior Brother…”
Tang Yu had already discarded his tight-fitting guard uniform.
His white disciple robes were stained with blood, and his body was covered in crisscrossing wounds, freshly torn open from rushing over so desperately. His face was pale, and there was even a trace of relief in his weak smile.
“Junior Brother, I’m so glad you’re safe…” Tang Yu had never smiled like this before. For a moment, Shi Yunyi couldn’t look away.
“Tang Yu?” Fu Qingyin also saw him.
This was his first disciple, who had been under his tutelage for five years. A quiet and withdrawn child, rarely speaking or smiling, who would always lower his head when greeting him. His hair always covered his eyes, so Fu Qingyin had only ever seen the top of his head.
“Master…” Tang Yu’s voice was weak, but he managed a small smile toward Fu Qingyin. “You came to save me…”
The moment he finished speaking, his body wobbled, and he collapsed forward. Shi Yunyi reacted quickly, catching him before he hit the ground. “Senior Brother! Wake up!”
Tang Yu’s body was so battered that Shi Yunyi didn’t even know where to hold him without hurting him.
Fu Qingyin stared at his disciple’s pale face and bloodless lips. He had reached out to help but hesitated and withdrew his hand into his sleeve. Instead, he turned his furious gaze toward Sang Jingli. “You dare to wound my disciple like this?!”
“He trespassed into the Demon Realm. He brought this upon himself.”
Sang Jingli’s voice was cold, his usual smirk vanishing the moment Tang Yu appeared. Especially when he saw Shi Yunyi holding Tang Yu in his arms, his expression darkened further.
For the first time, cracks appeared in Fu Qingyin’s normally composed face. He had always maintained a detached, emotionless demeanor, but seeing Tang Yu so grievously wounded, a strange pain surged in his chest. Not even when he had heard that Shi Yunyi was captured had he felt this way.
But just now, when Tang Yu called him ‘Master’… It felt like something had clenched around his heart. Tang Yu was, after all, his first disciple. No matter how indifferent he had been, he couldn’t completely ignore him.
Sang Jingli’s gaze grew even colder as he watched Tang Yu in Shi Yunyi’s arms. Without hesitation, he struck again. Fu Qingyin let out a chilling snort. “You won’t lay another finger on my disciple!”
With that, the two of them clashed once more, streaking across the sky as black and violet streaks of energy collided.
BOOM!
This impact was louder than any before, shaking the entire Demon Realm as if the heavens were about to collapse. None of the disciples below dared to interfere, forced to stand their ground in tense confrontation.
“Senior Brother…” Shi Yunyi held onto the unconscious Tang Yu. His hand brushed against Tang Yu’s limp left arm, causing him to let out a soft groan of pain.
“Damn it… That bastard Sang Jingli really did a number on you.” Shi Yunyi quickly pulled out a healing pill from his storage pouch and carefully fed it to Tang Yu.
“It’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have… this is all my fault…”
Tang Yu, hearing Shi Yunyi’s quiet muttering, felt an odd sense of satisfaction. Heh. My little act of ‘battle damage’… Let’s see if it doesn’t win you over.
Just moments ago, Tang Yu had been leisurely sitting atop the Demon Clan’s gates, munching on an apple. From that vantage point, he saw Sang Jingli secretly gathering demonic energy in his palm.
Tang Yu raised an eyebrow, a Demon Lord resorting to a sneak attack? Seriously?
So, he casually tossed away his apple, stripped off his guard uniform, and discreetly mingled with the disciples at the edge of the battlefield. Then, the moment Sang Jingli attacked Shi Yunyi, he seized the perfect opportunity to rush in and dramatically shield him.
Just as he expected, there was no way Fu Qingyin would let his precious disciple die. After all, Shi Yunyi and Fu Qingyin were basically destined to be together. Of course, the official ship couldn’t fall apart now, right?
Tang Yu wasn’t stupid. This was the perfect time to boost his favorability with the male lead and clear his name. With this, he wouldn’t be ostracized when he returned to the sect. Even Fu Qingyin seemed to be softening toward him.
Feeling his injuries slowly healing, Tang Yu smirked internally. Shi Yunyi really did have good stuff. Expensive medicine, too.
“Cough, cough… Junior Brother… As long as you’re safe…” Tang Yu slowly opened his eyes, making sure to cough up a little blood for added effect.
Crimson streaked his lips as he weakly looked up at Shi Yunyi, his gaze growing softer.
That’s right, my dear male lead. Fall for me. Get obsessed with me. Let me help you reach the pinnacle of this novel’s storyline. We’ll destroy Sang Jingli together, and then you and Fu Qingyin can live your happily-ever-after. I’ll just take my rewards and go home.
“Senior Brother, I’m sorry…” Shi Yunyi held onto him tightly, his eyes filled with guilt.
You must be damn guilty.
