- Transmigrated as the Cultivation World's Heartthrob - Senior Brother Just Wants to Slack Off
- Chapter 5 - If I Can’t Beat Him, Can’t I Beat You?
They say if you keep living, life will keep hitting you with new blows…
Tang Yu’s mind was in chaos. From getting hit by a car and dying to now, only a few hours had passed, but it felt like centuries. Exhausted both physically and mentally, he soon dozed off, leaning against the iron cage.
The next morning, he was jolted awake by a bucket of cold water. The sudden chill sent a shock through his body. As soon as he opened his eyes, memories flooded back. Right… he had transmigrated into a novel.
“Hey! Get up!” A young boy, probably in his teens, stood before him. He had big eyes and still carried a bit of baby fat on his face. But the moment he spoke, his tone was anything but kind. “This is all your fault! Now the righteous sects are attacking us! And yet, the Lord still refuses to kill you…”
Tang Yu frowned. This line… he knew it too well. Wasn’t this the classic dialogue of that little guard in the Demon Palace who looked down on Shi Yunyi? The boy’s name was Mu Xuan, a minor character in the original novel and Sang Jingli’s personal guard.
Mu Xuan had always worshipped Sang Jingli, but Sang Jingli, being the love-struck fool he was, only had eyes for Shi Yunyi. Later, when the Demon Palace was destroyed and Sang Jingli died, Mu Xuan sought revenge and became a minor antagonist, opposing Shi Yunyi, only to be killed in the end.
Tang Yu stood up and brushed himself off. His face, previously covered in dried blood, had been somewhat cleaned by the cold water.
“Hey! I’m talking to you!” Mu Xuan’s voice faltered as he took a good look at Tang Yu. Despite being covered in wounds and bloodstains, Tang Yu’s refined and elegant aura still shone through. For a moment, Mu Xuan was dazed.
“The righteous sects?” Tang Yu raised an eyebrow. “You mean the Tianqing Sword Sect?” Were they here to save him?
Sang Jingli worked fast. Did he have some kind of KPI to meet? He’d spread the news of Tang Yu being alive so quickly.
“So what if they are? Don’t think they can actually save you,” Mu Xuan sneered. Tang Yu ignored his hostility and continued, “Where are they now?”
“Obviously, they can’t even get past the gate! With the Lord here, there’s no way they’ll step foot into our Demon Palace.”
Mu Xuan’s face showed a hint of embarrassment as he grumbled, “If the Lord hadn’t been absent yesterday, you wouldn’t have gotten in so easily and taken away his… his important captive… You totally deserved the punishment you got!”
Tang Yu’s lips twitched. So basically, in this huge Demon Palace, Sang Jingli was the only one worth a damn in a fight. The moment he wasn’t around, people could just waltz in and out as they pleased?
But Mu Xuan’s words also gave Tang Yu an opportunity.
He couldn’t beat Sang Jingli. But this little brat?
“Thanks, kid!” Tang Yu flashed a smile. Mu Xuan’s face turned red for some reason, but before he could say a word, Tang Yu struck the back of his neck with a blast of spiritual energy.
Mu Xuan’s body instantly went limp as he collapsed to the ground.
“If they can’t come in, then I’ll just go out!”
Sang Jingli stood with the Demon Clan forces, confronting the righteous cultivators led by Fu Qingyin.
Fu Qingyin was no joke. As the younger brother of Tianqing Sword Sect’s leader, Fu Qinglan, he was also the master of the male protagonist.
A man of immense cultivation and righteous ideals, he was strikingly handsome, with sharp brows like ink brush strokes. Even a century ago, people had revered him as the great “Immortal Qingyin.”
He and the sect leader were known as the “Twin Heroes of Tianqing.”
“Hand over Tang Yu,” Fu Qingyin said coldly, his tone calm as ever. Tang Yu was his disciple, but not a favored one. They were never close, and Tang Yu had always been withdrawn. In contrast, his other two disciples were much more obedient.
If the sect leader hadn’t insisted on taking Tang Yu in back then, Fu Qingyin wouldn’t have accepted him. Now, Tang Yu had recklessly charged into the Demon Palace to rescue Shi Yunyi, throwing himself into danger and disgracing the sect.
If not for the sect’s reputation, Fu Qingyin wouldn’t have bothered coming to save him. “Tsk.”
Sang Jingli smirked. “Immortal Qingyin, what an honor! Should I invite you in for tea?”
“Sang Jingli! Cut the act and hand over my senior brother!” Shi Yunyi stepped out from behind Fu Qingyin, his gaze cold as he glared at Sang Jingli.
Just days ago, he had been on a mission with his second senior brother, Ling Yan, when the Demon Cult’s people found them. That was how he ended up in Sang Jingli’s hands. For a moment, he thought he was done for. But then, the person who came to save him… was the one he despised most, Tang Yu.
“Yunyi, don’t be afraid. I’m here to save you.”
“Yunyi, take the teleportation talisman and go. Don’t worry about me.”
“Yunyi, don’t look back…”
Shi Yunyi knew he was beautiful. Before being taken into the sect, he had always been coveted by others. Even after joining, everyone treated him kindly, but he knew the truth. They were all the same. They only cared about his appearance.
No one truly understood him. No one cared about his feelings. Not even his master. Not even Tang Yu.
Tang Yu liked him, he knew that. But he despised Tang Yu’s affection. Because Tang Yu was a freak.
Not long after Shi Yunyi entered the sect, he noticed someone secretly watching him. Then, one day, he found out, Tang Yu had been stealing his clothes. From that moment, his disgust for Tang Yu reached new heights.
And yet, that same Tang Yu had risked everything to save him. He thought Tang Yu had died. But even in death, Tang Yu’s last words were, “Run, Yunyi.”
Shi Yunyi couldn’t let his senior brother die in vain.
He had to survive to avenge the first person who ever made him feel guilt. But now, Sang Jingli was saying… Tang Yu was still alive. If his senior brother was alive, then no matter what, he had to bring him back.
“You want to save him? How about trading yourself for him?” Sang Jingli reached out a hand toward Shi Yunyi. “Yunyi, you know how I feel about you. Your senior brother’s life is in your hands.”
“You!” Shi Yunyi glared at Sang Jingli, his eyes burning with fury. Meanwhile, up on the Demon Palace gates, a young guard sat casually.
Crunch. He was munching on an apple he had stolen from somewhere.
Not bad. No pesticides, no fertilizers. Sweet and juicy.
Tang Yu held up the apple, lining it up with Sang Jingli’s head, imagining that it was Sang Jingli’s head. Then, he took a big bite.
Sang Jingli, still in the middle of a standoff, suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.
