“Let’s go, Mu Xuan.” Once again, in front of Ye Wuchen, Immortal Lord Qingyin waved his hand and disappeared with Mu Xuan.

Ye Wuchen stood in place for a long time before finally letting out a mocking laugh. “Everyone has their own fate…” Maybe he couldn’t blame Tang Yu. Maybe he was simply destined to be the sect leader’s disciple.

Tang Yu buried his head in his blanket, finally calming down.

That little brat, if he managed to sneak into the Tianqing Sword Sect, he must have made ample preparations. He must have also passed the new disciple assessment. If no one discovered that he was a demon clan member, then either he had found a way to hide his identity, or he wasn’t a demon at all.

He had acted too impulsively earlier. He shouldn’t have exposed him so directly, that only alerted the enemy. And now, he has been punished by Fu Qingyin.

“Shit!” He ruffled his hair in frustration. Since he was already punished, there was no avoiding it. He had just managed to rebuild his image, and now it was ruined again. “Might as well take the punishment. Wonder what it’ll be… It can’t be worse than dealing with Sang Jingli, right?”

Tang Yu slowly climbed out of bed and made his way toward the Qingxin Hall. The candles inside were still lit. He hesitated for a moment before pushing the door open.

“Yu’er, are you still upset with me?” Fu Qingyin’s pleasant voice came from inside the hall.

Tang Yu looked up and saw him sitting at his desk, his eyes lowered as he read a book. Tang Yu shut the door behind him and shuffled forward, kneeling down in front of him. “Master, I’m here to receive my punishment.”

He told himself he didn’t care, but deep down, he did. Since arriving in this world, his master had treated him the best. While his junior disciple was also kind to him, something about it always felt a little strange.

Only in front of Fu Qingyin could he feel truly at ease. Yet, Fu Qingyin didn’t believe him when he said Mu Xuan was a demon spy. Fine. If his master didn’t believe him, then there was no point in explaining. He’d just take the punishment.

“It’s just to keep others from talking.”

Fu Qingyin chuckled at Tang Yu’s pitiful expression. “Get up.”

Tang Yu raised his head, blinking. “Master… do you believe me?”

Fu Qingyin’s tone was calm. “That child has already become my disciple. I examined his bones, he is indeed human, not a demon. But if you insist he is a spy, keeping him close will be safer.”

He believes me?

The stuffiness in Tang Yu’s chest suddenly melted into warmth. He never expected anyone to trust him, especially since he had no proof.

“I didn’t call you here to punish you. I have something for you.” Fu Qingyin reached into a wooden box behind him and pulled out a jade pendant. “Yu’er, come here.”

“Master…” Whether it was the Tang Yu before or the Tang Yu now, he had never felt this way before.

In his past life, Tang Yu was an orphan. By the time he was in his teens, he was already living on his own. He dropped out of high school before graduating and drifted around for a few years before landing a job at a sketchy little company.

That was the start of his life as a corporate slave. Because he had no money or education, people looked down on him. He had no friends. And he had convinced himself that he didn’t need any.

Now, as he stared at the jade pendant in Fu Qingyin’s hands, his nose stung. This was the first time someone had ever given him a gift.

Fu Qingyin personally tied the jade pendant around Tang Yu’s waist. “I wanted to give this to you a long time ago, but I never got the chance.”

“Thank you, Master.” Tang Yu’s heart pounded as he looked up, only to meet Fu Qingyin’s gentle, smiling gaze.

‘Master is such a good person!!!!’

“Go back and rest,” Fu Qingyin said, lightly ruffling his hair. “There’s no need to dwell on Mu Xuan anymore.”

“Mm.” Tang Yu nodded, flashing a bright smile before leaving the Qingxin Hall. His fingers brushed over the tassels of the jade pendant. It still carried the warmth of Fu Qingyin’s touch. All the frustration Mu Xuan had caused earlier vanished. Humming a tune, Tang Yu strutted away with exaggerated confidence, twirling in place as he walked.

“Don’t be lost~ don’t be afraid~ the sun sets~ but the moon remains~”

Just as he tiptoed forward, he suddenly bumped into someone.

“Senior brother, are you okay?” Shi Yunyi reached out to steady him. Tang Yu rubbed his sore forehead. “I’m fine, I’m fine.”

‘Damn, this kid’s chest is solid…’

“It’s so late. Where did you go, senior brother?” Shi Yunyi glanced at the jade pendant in Tang Yu’s hand, his eyes darkening slightly.

“I went to… Qingxin Hall to receive my punishment…” Just thinking about it made Tang Yu happy, Fu Qingyin hadn’t punished him at all. Instead, he had given him a gift!

“Master punished you?” Shi Yunyi’s voice was unreadable, but his eyes reflected Tang Yu’s face. If he was punished, why did he look so happy? He couldn’t even hide his smile. Earlier in the day, senior brother didn’t have that jade pendant. He must have just received it from Master.

Senior brother was happy because he got to see Master.

“Mm… It’s not a big deal. It was about Mu Xuan. Oh, right! Master accepted Mu Xuan as a disciple, but…”

Tang Yu suddenly grabbed Shi Yunyi’s shoulders and whispered, “Stay away from that brat! Even if he’s not a demon, he’s definitely not a good person!”

After thinking it over, he figured Sang Jingli sent Mu Xuan here either to cause trouble for him or to continue pursuing Shi Yunyi. Sang Jingli was such a love-struck fool, he probably had no room in his head for anything other than Shi Yunyi!

“Alright, I’ll listen to senior brother!” Shi Yunyi beamed sweetly at him.

For some reason, Tang Yu’s vision blurred for a moment.

“Senior brother, are you sleepy?”

Shi Yunyi’s voice echoed in his ears. Tang Yu stared blankly at his lips. “Yeah… suddenly, I’m really sleepy.”

“Then let me take you back to rest.” Shi Yunyi took his hand.

“Okay…” Tang Yu followed him, step by step, back to his room.

In the shadows, Mu Xuan, clad in dark nightwear, witnessed everything. As he watched the two disappear into a closed room, he concealed himself. Returning to the quarters Fu Qingyin had arranged for him, he removed his nightwear and hid it before lying down with his legs crossed.

“Master, don’t worry. I’ll get the Glazed Demon Core for you.” He clenched his fists, recalling the conversation he had overheard in the Demon Palace.

“Master, what do we do now?!” Because of Sang Jingli’s injuries, General Yan Yi, who had been guarding the outer borders, had rushed back in a panic.

“I’m fine.” Sang Jingli had just suppressed the turmoil in his body, still feeling weak.

Yan Yi, ever loyal, burned with fury at seeing his master in such a state. “Master! Didn’t the demon doctor say it? You have less than half a year to live! I’ll go to Tianqing Sword Sect right now and capture Shi Yunyi. I’ll carve out his demon core to heal you!”

“Yan Yi, you can’t go. I’m seriously injured. If you leave, who will guard the demon domain?” Sang Jingli massaged his forehead. “Besides, the Glazed Fox Demon’s core must be given willingly. Even if you carve it out, it’ll be useless.”

Hidden in the shadows, Mu Xuan’s almond eyes widened.

“But Master! Time is running out. Do you really think Shi Yunyi would willingly give up his demon core for you?” Yan Yi was growing desperate.

“He doesn’t even know he’s a Glazed Fox Demon yet, he still thinks he’s an ordinary human!”

Sang Jingli let out a cold laugh. “Last time I caught him, he accidentally used the Heart-Devouring Spell on me. But it’s still weak.”
