- Transmigrated as the Cultivation World's Heartthrob - Senior Brother Just Wants to Slack Off
- Chapter 15 - Could It Be That Senior Brother Likes Me?
Tang Yu had been feeling dazed lately, no matter how much he slept, it was never enough. His memory was failing him, and sometimes, his headaches were unbearable.
Lying on the rooftop, he basked in the warm sunlight, wondering if that lunatic Sang Jingli had left him with some lingering injuries. It had been almost a month since he returned to Tianqing Sword Sect, and he was mostly recovered. Aside from occasional headaches, boredom was his biggest problem.
The system would occasionally spout a few dull lines, reminding him that he was a transmigrator, but other than that, it was just him spacing out.
He still didn’t know who his target for the strategy was supposed to be. On one hand, it seemed like Shi Yunyi, but on the other, he felt like he shouldn’t get too close to him. Every time they were together, he felt uncomfortable.
Lately, Fu Qingyin had been treating him much better, often sending disciples to check on him or summoning him to the Lingyin Hall for guidance. For Tang Yu, this was a rare opportunity. After all, the original body’s spiritual power had been something he had to figure out on his own.
Fu Qingyin noticed his lack of proficiency in using spiritual power and blamed himself for neglecting him all these years, which led to his stagnation in cultivation. Tang Yu could only say some polite words like, “It’s not Master’s fault, it’s mine.”
His plan was simple: when major story events happened, he would step in, offer strategic advice to help the protagonist overcome obstacles, and otherwise, he would minimize contact with him.
But plans were always beautiful, reality, however, was cruel. Because he had saved Shi Yunyi, the guy wouldn’t stop clinging to him. Every few days, Shi Yunyi would come looking for him. Meanwhile, Tang Yu just wanted to stick with Ling Yan, the dependable side character who gave him a strong sense of security.
With Ling Yan around, he wouldn’t feel as awkward as he did when alone with Shi Yunyi. And thanks to his persistent efforts, Ling Yan no longer rejected him as much as before.
That day, Shi Yunyi happened to be called away by Fu Qingyin. Tang Yu shamelessly made his way to Ling Yan’s place, refusing to leave.
“Junior brother Ling, just let me take a look,” Tang Yu grinned, inching closer. “What kind of injury is it? It’s been so long, and it still hasn’t healed?”
“It’s not healed yet.” Ling Yan moved away, his face under the cloak slightly flushed.
‘Why was Tang Yu always getting so close? Why did he keep sticking to him? Could it be that… Senior brother liked him?’
Ling Yan’s expression became increasingly unnatural at the thought.
“Just let me see, senior brother promises it’ll be quick.”
Under Tang Yu’s relentless pestering, Ling Yan finally removed his cloak. As soon as Tang Yu saw his face, he couldn’t hold back his laughter.
“Pfft… hahaha…”
He covered his mouth and turned away. “Sorry, junior brother Ling, I didn’t mean to… pfft—”
Ling Yan, “…”
It wasn’t really Tang Yu’s fault for laughing. There weren’t any serious wounds on Ling Yan’s face, just two giant turtles drawn on either cheek. No matter how hard he tried to wash them off, they wouldn’t budge. Clearly, the demon clan had done it to humiliate him.
“Those demons went too far… hahaha…” Tang Yu couldn’t hold it in anymore. He hurriedly put Ling Yan’s hat back on. Ling Yan’s face darkened as he removed it again. “Senior brother, is it that funny?”
“…Yeah.” Tang Yu blurted out the truth, then quickly corrected himself. “I mean, no! Not funny at all!”
He patted Ling Yan’s shoulder and cursed, “Those demon bastards are crazy, all of them. Especially their Demon Lord, he’s a complete maniac. Look what that dog did to me.”
Tang Yu lifted his left hand. “Didn’t even say a word, just snapped it right off. If I wasn’t lucky, you wouldn’t even see me now.”
Then, he dramatically slumped onto Ling Yan’s shoulder, pretending to be heartbroken.
Ling Yan pushed him away in disgust. “Senior brother is a hero for saving junior brother. Even if you had died, your name would still be honored on the sect’s hero list…”
‘Unlike me, a coward who ran away.’
Tang Yu could tell Ling Yan was affected by the rumors again, so he comforted him, “The fact that you made it back alive is already a blessing. Junior brother being captured was the Demon Lord’s fault, that dog Sang Jingli did it. It’s not on you.”
Ling Yan pursed his lips, saying nothing. Tang Yu was right, but people loved to talk. Even if they didn’t mean harm, words could still hurt. Even junior brother had started avoiding him since that incident, clinging to senior brother instead.
Ling Yan wasn’t stupid, he could tell how distant junior brother had become.
If Tang Yu didn’t keep visiting him, and if Shi Yunyi didn’t keep chasing after Tang Yu, he probably wouldn’t even get a chance to see junior brother anymore.
“Senior brother, second senior brother.” Shi Yunyi suddenly landed nearby, looking visibly exhausted.
“Junior brother, did Master summon you for something important?” Ling Yan quickly put his cloak back on.
Shi Yunyi ignored him and instead pouted at Tang Yu. “Senior brother, Master had me guide the new disciples around the sect all day. It’s exhausting. And there’s another group this afternoon…”
Tang Yu twitched his lips. ‘Damn, this guy was a natural white lotus, his innocent act was actually kinda cute. But he wouldn’t be fooled. This protagonist was destined to have a massive harem in the future.’
“Drink more water,” Tang Yu replied lazily.
“You’re right, senior brother. I’ll drink more water,” Shi Yunyi beamed.
Tang Yu, “…”
Ling Yan, “Time flies, it’s recruitment season again.”
Seeing his interest, Tang Yu asked, “Junior brother Ling, do you want to go watch?”
Ling Yan shook his head. “Nothing worth seeing.”
He wasn’t actually interested in the recruitment, he just wanted to be with Shi Yunyi.
Originally, the four of them, him, Tang Yu, Shi Yunyi, and Ye Wuchen, were supposed to guide the new disciples together. But because Tang Yu and Ling Yan were injured, Fu Qingyin had Shi Yunyi and Ye Wuchen handle it alone. That ended up making their workload heavier.
Tang Yu sighed. Even after transmigrating, he couldn’t escape being a working man. He figured Ling Yan was just worried about people seeing the turtles on his face.
An idea sparked in his mind. “Wait here. I’ll be right back.”
Shi Yunyi immediately followed. “Senior brother, where are you going? I’ll come too.”
Tang Yu rubbed his temples, exasperated. Why was this protagonist acting like a newly hatched chick? Did he just imprint on the first person who saved him? Just because he rescued Shi Yunyi, the guy was now glued to him like an unshakable plaster.
To everyone else, Shi Yunyi was a pure-hearted white lotus. But to Tang Yu, he just seemed like a little schemer.
“Do whatever you want,” Tang Yu sighed.
