After the two of them finished breakfast, Jiang Yuan had to make a trip to the company.

Jing Ying watched her little Yuan Yuan change into a sharp business outfit and head to the garage to get the car. She leaned lazily against a carved pillar on the garage wall and asked with a hint of mischief, “Should I go with you? Didn’t I sign the contract already? I’m technically part of the company too.”

Jiang Yuan waved her hands repeatedly. “No, no, no. The company still hasn’t set up all the equipment or staff. You don’t need to show up yet. Plus…” She turned back, blinked, and smiled playfully. “You’re my secret weapon. If you show your face at the office now and people get the wrong idea, what then?”

“…”

Jing Ying couldn’t help but laugh and shake her head. “Alright then. Just drive safe.”

Jiang Yuan immediately gave her an OK sign. “Got it. Don’t worry.”

“What time are you coming back? What do you want for lunch?”

“Anything’s fine. Whatever you cook is good. I’m not picky,” Jiang Yuan chuckled.

Jing Ying gave her a soft, doting look and stepped aside so Jiang Yuan could drive off.

Watching the red Lotus sports car roll away, Jing Ying’s lips curled upward.

This was her first time living with a friend. And the first time someone had barged into her life so rudely, so forcefully, without giving her any choice at all. She had thought she would hate such a disruption. But now? She was starting to think… maybe it wasn’t so bad?

She smirked, crossed her arms, and walked back into the villa. Throwing on a jacket and picking up a shopping bag, she headed to the supermarket to pick up groceries.

…

In the car, Jiang Yuan was juggling calls from both Xue Zi and Zhang Hao, all while trying to deal with a video call from her third brother.

Every time she had to video chat with Jiang Yanguai, she felt pressure. After all, he was the original host’s biological brother. Even though she knew she had transmigrated and the real Jiang Yuan no longer existed, no one in this world could possibly imagine something as outlandish as a soul swap. Still, deep down, she couldn’t shake her nerves. What if he picked up on something?

“Ahem. Hey, brother~”

Jiang Yuan forced a smile and greeted awkwardly.

Jiang Yanguai gave a low grunt in response. “What are you busy with right now?”

“Huh? I’m driving. On my way to the office. If you don’t have anything urgent, I’m going to hang up. It’s not safe to talk while driving. If I get into an accident, that’s no good, right?”

Jiang Yanguai: …

He had been about to say something, but her words completely blocked him.

He frowned.

But unfortunately, what she said made perfect sense.

“Fine. Just drive safely. I only called to tell you that I’ll be coming to Nancheng in a few days to see you.”

Skrrrt—

Jiang Yuan almost hit the gas instead of the brake in surprise.

Was her third brother really wishing her a safe drive?

“Brother, why are you suddenly coming to Nancheng?”

“There’s a deal I need to discuss. And since you’re starting a company, I can’t not take a look in person. I’d be too uneasy. Anyway, I’ve got things to do here. You drive safe.”

He waved dismissively.

Jiang Yuan’s hand trembled. “Okay… brother…”

Once the video call ended.

She was falling apart.

Oh my god!!!!!!

What the hell was Jiang Yanguai thinking?! Wasn’t he still furious that the original owner had handed all the entertainment companies to Li Tingshen? Hadn’t he sworn he never wanted to see his sister again?

And now he suddenly wanted to make time to visit?

What was she supposed to do?!

Jiang Yuan was overwhelmed.

Her foot pressed harder on the accelerator as she drove toward the company in a fog of anxiety.

…

Xue Zi and Zhang Hao were already at the company waiting for her.

Zhang Hao began by giving her a tour of the office. He had a keen eye for detail. The building he had chosen was elegant without being ostentatious, and the interior design had its own unique charm. There was little to complain about. The only space Jiang Yuan felt dissatisfied with was the CEO’s office. She planned to replace some of the furniture and redecorate it to her taste later.

After the tour, they headed to the conference room to finalize the artist signings.

When each of the photos appeared on the multimedia projector, Jiang Yuan found herself genuinely impressed. Xue Zi was reliable.

The people she had picked each had their own distinct strengths. Whether it was personality, appearance, or talent, every one of them had a standout quality. In fact, two of them were people Jiang Yuan remembered from the book. They ended up close to the female lead and later climbed to the top of the industry.

Of course, there were also a few ticking time bombs. People with issues who would eventually blow up their public images and bring major damage to the agency.

After filtering through the candidates, Jiang Yuan gave her thoughts.

“Keep a close eye on Wei Qing and Ye Miao. We absolutely must sign them, and bump both of their contracts up to S-rank. The rest looks fine, based on your evaluation. Oh, and one more thing.”

Her finger landed on a file as she tapped it. “Qin Suyu. Drop him.”

The one she called out had a photo attached.

A fair-skinned boy with delicate, almost feminine features. His frame was a little thin, and he carried a clean, melancholic aura.

He was exactly the kind of fresh-faced heartthrob trending these days. The type who triggered every protective instinct in women.

And yet Jiang Yuan said no?

Xue Zi frowned, clearly hesitant. “Wei Qing’s potential is solid. S-rank is fine. But I don’t think Ye Miao is there yet. And as for Qin Suyu, he’s the most promising of the bunch. Dropping him would be a major loss.”

“It might seem like a loss on the surface. But signing him is the real mistake. His background is complicated. We cannot take him on,” Jiang Yuan said firmly. “As for the rest, do a thorough background check again. Once everything checks out, move forward with the contracts.”

Xue Zi still looked doubtful, but seeing Jiang Yuan’s confidence, she said nothing more.

Once Jiang Yuan left the company, she let out a long sigh of relief.

Qin Suyu was burned into her memory. That guy was one of the rare male villains in Priceless Best Actress: The Ex-Wife Everyone Wants. He had almost destroyed her ethereal female lead.

He looked like a harmless, pure little boy. But behind the scenes, he was a gigolo kept by a wealthy older woman. Even worse, he was a hidden weapon planted by Shen Mingzhu to sabotage the female lead.

In the original novel, his pitiful looks earned him the female lead’s sympathy. She helped him out more than once. Who would’ve thought he was rotten to the core? Not only was he ungrateful, but he even grew jealous. Later on, all the slanderous rumors and fake scandals that nearly buried the female lead’s career came from him.

This kind of person!

Jiang Yuan would never allow him the slightest chance to get close to her fairy-like female lead!

She had to block him completely!

By the time she finished everything at the office, it was almost noon. Jiang Yuan was already starting to miss her fairy.

And just thinking about going home to eat a meal cooked by her fairy made her beam with joy.

Another perfect opportunity to rack up some love points.

She rubbed her hands excitedly and went to the garage to fetch the car.

But just as she arrived, someone stepped out and blocked her path.

The moment she saw their face, Jiang Yuan was stunned.

“…”
