Jiang Yuan woke up to a throbbing headache so severe it felt like her skull was about to split. When she opened her eyes, she realized she wasn’t in her own room. Her surroundings were unfamiliar. This definitely wasn’t the overwhelming pink disaster of her bedroom.

She turned her head and was greeted by a wall of warmth.

A slim girl lay next to her. The hem of her white T-shirt had rolled up, revealing a delicate waist and a perfectly round, adorable belly button. Her stomach was smooth and flat, with faint lines hinting at toned abs.

Jiang Yuan blinked.

That face… wasn’t it Jing Ying?

Jing Ying lay straight and still, clearly fast asleep. Meanwhile, Jiang Yuan had sprawled diagonally across the bed, taking up nearly the whole space. Her head was resting against the celestial beauty’s chest, and her hand—

Her face burned. Her hand had been resting at the top of Jing Ying’s thigh.

Jiang Yuan quickly withdrew her hand and slowly sat up.

A breeze brushed against her chest. Looking down, she realized her robe was completely disheveled, and she wasn’t wearing anything underneath. Jing Ying’s hand still held the sash, as if she had tried to stop her from undressing in her sleep.

Even though she had completely blacked out from drinking, the scene before her said enough.

Jiang Yuan was so mortified that she wanted to disappear. Trembling, she pulled up her system panel. Her affection points with Jing Ying were still at 30. Not one point lost.

Thank goodness. As long as she doesn’t hate me, I’ll live. Thank the heavens. Thank the celestial beauty.

She carefully took back her sash from Jing Ying’s hand, tightened her robe to cover her chest, and tiptoed out of bed. Just before leaving, she looked back.

As soon as Jiang Yuan left, Jing Ying opened her eyes. They were clear and focused. She had already been awake for a while.

…

Jiang Yuan threw herself face-first into the blindingly pink bed in her own room and let out a muffled scream.

“What was I thinking drinking so much?! Did I do something terrible last night?”

She rolled around, groaning, until she wrapped herself into a tight cocoon.

Only her small, flushed face peeked out from the blanket. Just then, there was a knock at the door.

She froze and tried to sit up, forgetting she was wrapped up. With a thud, she tumbled to the floor.

The door handle turned.

“Wait—”

Too late.

Jing Ying had heard something fall and opened the door. She didn’t expect to find a tangled ball of blankets on the floor with Jiang Yuan’s face peeking out, red as a tomato.

Jing Ying stifled a smile and held up a phone. “Someone called you. I brought it over.”

She stepped in and bent slightly. “Need a hand?”

Jiang Yuan quickly shook her head. “No, no, just leave it on the table. I can get up myself.”

Jing Ying raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

“Really really!”

Jiang Yuan had buried her face in the carpet, her back to Jing Ying.

Not wanting to tease her further, Jing Ying set the phone on the table and walked out. Once the door closed, she couldn’t hold back her laughter.

Jiang Yuan lay there, utterly defeated.

She was so embarrassed that she wanted to crawl into a hole. Kicking off the blanket and pulling herself together, she picked up the phone.

The call had ended. A message popped up.

“10 AM Times Square. Let’s meet. —Li Tingshen”

Jiang Yuan’s face twisted in disgust.

Where does he get the confidence to speak to me like this? His arrogant tone made her stomach turn.

She deleted the message and blocked the number.

Even seeing his name gave her the ick.

Tossing the blanket back on the bed, she went to shower.

…

At Li Corporation, Li Tingshen leaned back in his chair. He had waited over thirty minutes but still hadn’t received a reply.

He frowned.

In the past, Jiang Yuan would light up the moment he texted. Now, even when he offered to meet, she ignored him?

He tossed his phone onto the desk, irritation bubbling in his chest.

Jiang Corporation had suddenly opened an entertainment company in Nancheng, and Jiang Yuan’s attitude had done a complete 180. Did they actually plan to challenge him?

Although Jiang Corporation was massive, he had never seen them as a real threat until now. With Jiang Yuan’s sudden change and the rumors spreading through the industry, he realized he needed to be cautious.

It wasn’t just about business. It was about Mingzhu, too.

A knock interrupted his thoughts.

“Mr. Li, someone from Gu Wo Zai is here. Ms. Gu sent them.”

Li Tingshen frowned. “Gu Wo Zai?”

Gu Xihe owned that restaurant. She was the young heiress of the Gu family and had been Jiang Yuan’s best friend since childhood.

If Jiang Yuan was ignoring him, why was Gu Xihe sending someone?

“Send them in.”

To his surprise, it wasn’t Gu Xihe’s assistant but a nervous waiter still in uniform, name tag pinned on his chest.

“Mr. Li, Ms. Gu asked me to collect compensation from you.”

“Compensation?” Li Tingshen chuckled coldly. “I don’t owe your boss anything.”

The waiter quickly explained, “You disrupted Miss Jiang’s dinner the other night. She called our boss, and Ms. Gu told us to follow Miss Jiang’s instructions. She said you’re responsible for the restaurant’s losses.”

Li Tingshen’s face turned dark.

“You’re saying Jiang Yuan told you to make me pay?”

The waiter nodded, trembling. “Yes, sir. That’s what she said. I’m just doing my job, please don’t take it out on me.”

Li Tingshen’s anger surged. He snatched up his phone and called Jiang Yuan.

After a few seconds, a robotic voice responded, “Your call could not be completed because the recipient has blocked this number.”

He froze.

Then suddenly, he let out a low, furious laugh.

“Jiang Yuan… you really think you’re something now, don’t you?”

…

Meanwhile, Jiang Yuan had just come downstairs after her shower, head hung low in shame.

Seeing Jing Ying in the kitchen cooking hangover soup made her want to crawl back upstairs and disappear.

“About last night… I didn’t do anything too embarrassing, did I?”

She sat at the table, sipping the soup in small, guilty slurps while stealing glances at Jing Ying.

Jing Ying paused but shook her head. “No.”

Jiang Yuan sighed in relief.

Then Jing Ying added casually, “Well… except for grabbing my hand and asking me to call you ‘sister,’ not letting me leave, insisting we sleep together, and saying sleeping naked was healthier.”

Jiang Yuan: …

Her expression froze in horror.

I made her call me sister?! I clung to her and wanted to sleep together?! I said what about sleeping naked?!

Can I die now?

Jing Ying took a sip of milk and saw Jiang Yuan completely petrified across the table. She burst out laughing.

“It wasn’t that bad,” Jing Ying said, amused. “Actually, you were kind of cute when you were drunk. But next time, don’t trust people so easily. Don’t let anyone take you home. Call me. I’ll come no matter what.”

She stood, took Jiang Yuan’s empty bowl, and carried it to the kitchen.

Jiang Yuan slumped onto the table, her face flushed. “I wouldn’t have let anyone take me. I’m super alert…”

In her past life, she had worked in retail selling jewelry. Because she often had to entertain clients over drinks and lived alone, she made sure to build up her alcohol tolerance to protect herself from being taken advantage of.

Who would’ve thought she’d drop her guard around Jing Ying and end up embarrassing herself this badly?

Jing Ying returned with medicated wine, sat beside her, and gestured. “Roll up your sleeve. Let me check your bruise.”

Jiang Yuan obediently did so. Her pale arm still showed faint bruises. Jing Ying frowned and gently massaged the wine into her skin.

They sat very close.

Jiang Yuan looked down at the celestial beauty focused on her arm and couldn’t help blurting, “I swear, I don’t usually sleep naked. Please believe me.”

She couldn’t imagine how horrifying she must’ve looked stripping beside the goddess.

Jing Ying froze, then burst out laughing. She had already held back several times this morning, but Jiang Yuan kept giving her reasons to laugh.

Jiang Yuan only felt more embarrassed.

Still, Jing Ying looked even more beautiful when she laughed.

“Stop laughing… I really don’t have that habit. I’m not some pervert trying to do anything to you…”

She was desperate to clear any misunderstandings.

Jing Ying wiped a tear from her eye and finally calmed down. “Relax. I don’t think you’re a pervert. I didn’t think anything of it. Really.”

Jiang Yuan tilted her head, uncertain. “Really?”

Her face held disbelief, hope, and awkward anticipation.

“Really,” Jing Ying said, then silently added in her heart, But if you try it again, I might start thinking otherwise.

She continued massaging.

Once done, Jiang Yuan got two calls.

One call was from Zhang Hao. He told her the new office had been finalized and asked her to take a look.

The other call came from Xue Zi. She had arranged for several promising new talents and wanted Jiang Yuan’s approval.

Back-to-back updates left Jiang Yuan dazed. For the first time, she actually felt like the boss of a real company.

It was only nine in the morning. She had just woken up, and her team had already made huge progress.

Maybe giving away that 20% stake yesterday hadn’t been such a loss after all.

Jing Ying smiled at her smug little expression. “Business updates?”

Jiang Yuan nodded. She wasn’t planning to hide anything. The whole company was created for Jing Ying anyway.

“I gave Xue Zi and Zhang Hao 10% equity each. They’re managing everything. I just oversee the major decisions.”

Jing Ying nodded. “They’re well-known in the industry and considered top-tier agents. Offering them equity is smarter than paying in cash. Their connections and expertise are easily worth more than ten percent.”

Jiang Yuan lit up. “You think so too?”

She had been nervous about giving away shares, afraid of making the same mistakes as the original body. Hearing Jing Ying affirm it put her at ease.

“Ten percent each sounds like a lot, but for a startup like Yuan Ying Media, it’s appropriate.”

“Exactly! I have no experience, no skills, no network. I can’t run it alone. But Xue Zi and Zhang Hao are veterans. When they worked under my third brother, they earned tons from artist commissions. I figure if he trusted them, I can too.”

She was so pleased with herself, her smile bright and proud.

Jing Ying resisted the urge to pinch her cheek.

“You gave them equity, but did you include safeguards?”

“Of course.” Jiang Yuan nodded. “The contract clearly outlines responsibilities. Major projects must go through me. They have authority, but not full control. And the shares vest over four years. If they leave early, they lose everything. Four years should be enough for me to learn how to run the company. Even if they eventually get full equity, I’ll know how to take it back.”

Jing Ying smiled and ruffled her hair.

“Smart.”

Jiang Yuan scratched her nose, embarrassed. “That’s why they tried to get me drunk after signing. They realized too late they’d been tricked.”

Jing Ying laughed.

So the little bird had outfoxed two old foxes after all.
