When Jing Ying arrived at the hotel, she asked the front desk and was quickly directed to the private room. As she reached the door, she saw that the spacious room was nearly empty, with only one girl inside. The girl wore a white shirt and casual suit pants. She was slumped over the table, her head resting on her arm, with her face slightly tilted to the side and turned toward Jing Ying.

Her face was palm-sized, with delicate features and striking eyes that gleamed faintly under the light. Her gaze was hazy, as if she were barely holding onto consciousness, struggling not to fall asleep.

The moment she saw Jing Ying, her sleepy eyes lit up with delight.

She raised her hand and gave a little wave, mumbling in a sweet tone, “Sister Jing, you’re here.”

Her voice was alluring.

Her flushed cheeks glowed like a rose in full bloom, impossible to look away from.

Jing Ying walked over and took a seat beside her, not hurrying to help her up. Instead, she poured a cup of warm water and handed it over.

Jiang Yuan straightened a little and propped her chin up with one hand, watching Jing Ying’s every move with wide eyes and a silly smile. Her face was rosy from the wine.

Her blond hair was slightly messy, which only made her gorgeous face seem even more irresistible.

“Drink some warm water.”

Jing Ying passed the cup to her. Jiang Yuan accepted it obediently and nodded. “Okay.”

She took a sip, then another.

She was not really drinking. She only let the tip of her pink tongue graze the water, licking lightly before taking a small sip, then licking again. She looked just like an elegant ragdoll cat, graceful and lazy, yet irresistibly seductive.

Jing Ying watched her closely. Her pupils narrowed slightly, and a shadow passed through her gaze.

Still, she did not rush her. She just kept watching.

When Jiang Yuan finally finished, she handed the cup back and murmured softly, “More.”

Jing Ying poured another for her.

Jiang Yuan kept drinking in the same slow, absentminded way. Even so, she somehow managed to drink three small cups of water. She really had been thirsty.

Once she had enough, Jing Ying set the teacup back down.

“Not thirsty anymore?”

Jiang Yuan nodded with a dazed smile. “Nope.”

“Then why didn’t you pour yourself some earlier?”

Jiang Yuan shook her head dumbly. “Didn’t dare.”

“Why not?”

The girl gave a sweet smile. “Afraid someone would spike it.”

“Then why are you fine drinking what I gave you?” Jing Ying asked curiously.

To her surprise, the smile on Jiang Yuan’s face deepened. She looked up with those dewy eyes, reflecting the soft yellow light like stars scattered across a night sky. “Because you’re Jing Ying.”

Jing Ying froze. Her smile faded as her lips pressed into a line.

Jiang Yuan saw her staying still and reached out to touch her wrist. “Sister Jing, take me home. I’m tired.”

Jing Ying sighed and nodded. “Alright.”

She walked over and gently helped her up. Jiang Yuan melted against her like a puddle of water.

Jing Ying placed one arm around her waist to steady her. As she became aware of how close they had gotten and where her hand had come to rest, she instinctively tried to pull away.

Before she could, Jiang Yuan grabbed her hand.

Just as Jing Ying opened her mouth to apologize and withdraw, Jiang Yuan blurted, “Hold tight. Don’t let me fall. I haven’t been paid yet. I can’t afford a hospital bill.”

She even nudged Jing Ying’s hand up a little.

Jing Ying was speechless.

She had not expected this side of Miss Jiang when drunk… adorable.

It took all her strength to get her downstairs. Jing Ying called a ride through an app, and they waited by the curb. Jiang Yuan leaned softly against her shoulder.

Their scents were tangled together.

Jing Ying had always been wary of physical closeness. No matter who she was with, she kept at least half a meter of space. Even with her own mother.

The moment anyone crossed into that personal zone, she felt deeply uncomfortable.

But now, with Jiang Yuan so close, with her breath brushing her neck and the mingled scent of wine and perfume drifting to her nose, Jing Ying felt… surprisingly fine. She might have even liked it.

She took off her jacket and draped it over Jiang Yuan’s shoulders, then wrapped one arm around her waist and checked her phone to see where the driver was.

…

Li Tingshen stepped out of the hotel and spotted a familiar figure by the roadside. He thought it looked like Jiang Yuan and was just about to approach when another woman helped her into a car.

“Mr. Li, was that Miss Jiang just now?”

One of the men behind him followed his gaze and asked.

Li Tingshen said nothing. But a few business associates chimed in.

“I heard Miss Jiang has changed a lot recently. Someone said she hosted two important guests here today. Do you know who?”

“Who?” Li Tingshen turned back to ask.

The man smiled mysteriously. “Zhang Hao and Xue Zi.”

“Them? Weren’t they overseas? Why are they back all of a sudden?”

These two were top-tier agents who had once been major names in Nancheng’s entertainment industry. But two years ago, after Jiang Yuan handed all of Jiang Corporation’s film and TV assets over to Li Tingshen, Jiang Yangui had reassigned them to the international division. Now they were suddenly back. What could it mean?

Li Tingshen’s face turned cold.

The man continued smugly. “Actually, I also heard that Miss Jiang recently registered a film company here in Nancheng. She did it quietly, but her brother sent back two of his most trusted agents. What do you think that means?”

As soon as he said that, everyone got the message.

What did it mean?

What else could it mean?

Clearly, Jiang Yangui was not happy about Nancheng’s entertainment market being handed over to Li Tingshen on a silver platter. Even though he was overseas, he was making a move. He wanted to reclaim everything that had once belonged to the Jiang family.

Especially when they remembered how Miss Jiang had stormed out before the opening ceremony of Li Entertainment a few days ago. The rumors of a fallout between the Jiang and Li families were starting to sound more and more like the truth.

If that were the case, Li Entertainment was now in a delicate situation.

Everyone present kept their thoughts to themselves, their expressions neutral. But inwardly, they all understood exactly what was happening.

Li Tingshen’s face had already darkened completely. His gaze turned sharp.

…

At the villa.

Jing Ying pushed open the door, still holding Jiang Yuan. She carried her to the couch and set her down, then turned to close the door. But when she came back, she found that Jiang Yuan had already flopped over and fallen asleep. Her eyes were closed, her hair a mess around her face, and her breathing soft.

Jing Ying let out a small laugh. She walked over and gently patted her shoulder.

“Miss Jiang, wake up. Let’s get you to bed before you catch a cold.”

Jiang Yuan opened her eyes. The moment she saw Jing Ying, she smiled. “Don’t call me Miss Jiang.”

“Then what should I call you? Little Yuan Yuan?”

Jing Ying wasn’t bothered. She smiled and sat on the sofa beside her.

Her head was tilted slightly. Her ponytail had come undone, and her black hair framed her elegant face. The cold beauty now looked soft. So, so gentle.

Jiang Yuan stared, completely entranced. She suddenly sat up, cupped Jing Ying’s face in both hands, and said seriously, “You have to call me fairy sister. You’re so pretty. Like a fairy. I’m pretty too. Also, like a fairy. We’re both fairies.”

Jing Ying’s lips twitched with a barely held smile. Patiently, she asked, “Then why not call you fairy little sister?”

“Because I’m older.” She thought hard, counting on her fingers, and held up two. “You’re only twenty-two. I’m two years older. You have to call me sister.”

Jing Ying shook her head with a sigh. “Actually, I’m two years older than you.”

Jiang Yuan stubbornly shook her head. “No, no. I’m older. You have to call me sister.”

Her cheeks puffed up as she argued.

Jing Ying rubbed her temples and gave in. “Alright, alright. You’re the older one. You’re the fairy sister. Now let me take you upstairs to sleep, okay?”

Jiang Yuan thought it over, then nodded. “Okay.”

But once they were in the elevator, she looked up with sparkling eyes and said seriously, “I need to take a shower before I sleep. And I want a bowl of hangover soup, or I won’t sleep well.”

“Alright.” Jing Ying smiled indulgently. “You go to the room first. I’ll make the soup.”

“Okay.”

Jiang Yuan nodded in satisfaction and obediently walked to the room.

The moment she stepped inside, she began fussing again. She looked around at all the pink decorations, shivered, and turned to leave.

“I don’t want to sleep here. It’s ugly.”

She walked straight into another room.

Jing Ying couldn’t even stop her.

She had barged into Jing Ying’s own bedroom.

Jing Ying sighed.

She helped Jiang Yuan into a single armchair, then went to grab her robe from the other room. When she came back, the sound of running water was coming from the bathroom, and Jiang Yuan’s clothes were scattered all over the floor. Even her underwear.

Jing Ying paused, awkwardly rubbed her nose, then hung the robe in the closet outside. She bent down, picked up the clothes, and placed them in the laundry basket.

She knocked on the bathroom door. “I’ve hung your robe outside. Don’t forget to wear it later. I’m going downstairs to make the soup.”

There was no response.

Jing Ying hesitated, then went downstairs. She searched online for the recipe as she worked.

When she returned upstairs with the soup, the bathroom door was still shut and the water was still running.

She frowned.

“Miss Jiang?”

No answer.

“Jiang Yuan?”

Still no reply.

Her brow tightened. She walked to the bathroom door. Through the frosted glass, she could barely make out a figure squatting on the floor, completely still.

Worried, she knocked. When there was still no answer, she pushed open the door.

Inside, Jiang Yuan had fallen asleep halfway through her shower. She was clutching the shower head, crouched on the floor.

Her figure was even more stunning than Jing Ying remembered. Her skin was smooth and flawless, so fair it almost glowed. There was not an ounce of excess on her body. She looked perfect. Crouched there, holding the shower head, she seemed oddly adorable.

Jing Ying’s cheeks flushed. She quickly looked away, took the shower head from her hand, and gently rinsed off the foam. Then she found a towel and carefully dried her, including her hair.

It took quite a bit of effort to carry her to bed. Jing Ying let her hair fall loose along the edge of the mattress and looked for a towel to finish drying it.

Just as she stood, a hand grabbed hers.

She turned and saw that Jiang Yuan was restless in her sleep. Her forehead was damp with sweat, her face twisted in pain. She mumbled, “There’s a fire. Help me. Help. I don’t want to die.”

Jing Ying frowned. She crouched down, gently patted her back, and comforted her softly.

“Don’t be afraid. It’s just a dream. You’re safe.”

But the girl kept tossing and turning. Suddenly, she flung out her arms and pulled Jing Ying down onto the bed, hugging her tightly as if she were a lifeline.

“Save me… save me… I don’t want to die…”

Jing Ying froze.

But the fear in the girl’s trembling voice softened her heart. She wrapped her arms around her and whispered, “I’m here. Don’t be scared…”
