This is a short fifty-chapter novel updating every other day, so you can bookmark it and follow the full run. Before I started, I checked NU and there was no listing at all, so I genuinely thought no one had picked it up. I only discovered another version after my team had already finished their assigned parts, so I couldn’t back out anymore. This was never meant as a snipe. Thank you for understanding and for reading with us!

Neither of them had any defenses in place. By the time their consciousness returned, they had already been entangled in tender intimacy for quite some time. Having just experienced this for the first time, both developed something of a taste for it. Jian Tongyao mustered her formidable willpower to push away the passionate thoughts transmitted from the other side, suppressing the trembling sensation that came from their souls being in harmony as she focused on examining the other party’s current condition.

The moment she dove into the other’s sea of consciousness, the scene before her eyes transformed into familiar plants and trees. That unlucky phoenix tree had also been placed in its original position and even bowed and scraped toward her in a humanlike manner, vividly portraying the old phoenix tree as an utter lackey. All the roof tiles and furnishings were identical to those on Lingjiu Mountain. Even the vibrant flowers that the little phoenix had brought in her beak to the entrance of her seclusion cave were actively arranging themselves automatically into characters like “like,” “Master,” “Master looks so beautiful,” “Master smiled,” “miss Master,” “like Master,” and so on.

Over the past two hundred years, Qian Jiujiu had brought back thousands upon thousands of fresh flowers. Each time, she would arrange them in advance before Jian Tongyao emerged from seclusion. At first, there were no particular patterns. A hundred years ago, after her Xiao Jiu fought a great battle with the little golden dragon, she suddenly began arranging the flowers she brought into new formations. Each display appeared in a different state, creating all kinds of strange shapes. Whenever she heard the sounds of Jian Tongyao emerging from seclusion, she would immediately gather all the flowers she had given her into one pile and place them in the same spot, waiting for her to pick them up and praise her a few times.

Only today did she finally understand.

It turned out…

These character arrangements that had never been displayed before were what her Xiao Jiu truly wanted to say to her.

Jian Tongyao’s heart surged with emotion, which also affected the other party’s sea of consciousness, causing it to tremble along with hers. Threads of spiritual power quickly coiled toward her. The innate sense of harmony between the two nearly caused them to tumble into the clouds again. Fortunately, Jian Tongyao kept the important matter in mind. Guided by the owner, they soon arrived before a small dark room.

The dark room was constructed according to Qian Jiujiu’s courtyard. Every brick and tile had been laid by Jian Tongyao’s own hands. Even though it lacked the phoenix tree that towered into the clouds in the courtyard and had an additional barrier shrouding it, with the main gate tightly locked like a solitary existence cut off from the world, it was still enough to sicken the owner of this place.

They both understood very clearly that what was imprisoned inside the room should be the soul that Ling Yan had forcibly moved into.

As Jian Tongyao was observing, the room’s features seemed to be kneaded by a giant hand. The entire structure compressed and piled together, twisted and distorted. Just as she felt the whole room was about to be crushed, the features returned to normal. A ball of fierce flames inexplicably wrapped around the room. The fiery red light carried a scorching sensation, gathering before her into a hellish sea of fire.

Ahhh!

The miserable screams coming from the depths of the soul failed to evoke any pity whatsoever. Jian Tongyao murmured toward the empty space before her, “Xiao Jiu, don’t fool around.”

Showing off power momentarily like this, who knew whether Ling Yan would imitate today’s actions and use the same method to treat her Xiao Jiu when she took control of the body.

The sea of fire instantly transformed into clusters of small flames, cheerfully floating and bouncing before her.

Jian Tongyao didn’t dare to think further. After confirming that when her Xiao Jiu controlled the body, Ling Yan couldn’t sense what they were doing, she quickly ended this deep communion.

The moment both of them opened their eyes, their faces were flushed, and the corners of their eyes still held traces of red that hadn’t dissipated. They looked as if they had been thoroughly bullied. As for who had been bullied… who knew.

The longing Jian Tongyao had suppressed for many years was completely exposed because of this deep communion. It carried more impact than any impoverished words could convey. When those yearnings converged into surging tides rushing forth, she couldn’t hold them back at all.

Jian Tongyao had fantasized countless times about the course of their reunion and falling in love again. She had even already coordinated with Dingding about recordings and videos in advance. The only thing she hadn’t anticipated was that tearing away the veil of haze would be so simple and crude, catching her completely off guard.

Qian Jiujiu’s little face was still rosy. The upward curve at the corner of her mouth wouldn’t go down no matter what. Her two hands, which had nowhere to rest, also began to become quite restless, with her index fingers touching each other before separating immediately.

Such a shy reaction was truly a rare sight throughout the ages.

Usually, it was always the other party teasing her. This time, Jian Tongyao’s mischievous interest in teasing inexplicably arose. She pressed the corner of her mouth and cast a dust cleansing spell on both of them to clean away the sweat that didn’t actually exist.

“Xiao Jiu, do you know what we were just doing?”

Qian Jiujiu’s eyes wandered, and her face bore a satisfied expression. She blinked as if savoring the memory.

“Dual cultivation?”

This unfamiliar term was dug out from a memory that had flashed through Jian Tongyao’s mind. It was a cultivation method frequently used between dao companions and cauldrons, mostly for improving cultivation levels.

With her photographic memory, she remembered many things, including those that were confusing and perplexing as well as those that were desirable.

Before Jian Tongyao could continue teasing, Qian Jiujiu reacted first in a flash. She tightly gripped Jian Tongyao’s wide sleeve, pressing more than half her body back against her.

“Master, I like this cultivation method.”

Jian Tongyao remained silent.

Dual cultivation was deep communication on a spiritual level. Only with extreme trust in the other party could one merge without any reservations.

Holding hands, kissing…

These hadn’t yet had time to break through before they had already directly reached third base. No, it was even more stimulating than reaching third base.

Qian Jiujiu picked at her own fingertips with one hand while tightly gripping Jian Tongyao’s sleeve with the other.

“What do you think?”

Jian Tongyao smiled as she watched the other’s little movements, but what floated through her mind was the alternative confession continuously arranged in various fonts.

“Naturally, it’s fine. However, Xiao Jiu, with this cultivation method, you can only seek me as your Master. You cannot seek anyone else.”

Qian Jiujiu excitedly crashed into her embrace, wishing she could roll around immediately. Unfortunately, her human form was too large, so she could only continuously nuzzle her with her little head.

“Master can also only seek me alone. There can’t be any other people anymore, jiu.”

The domineering tone was exactly the same as Seventh Sister’s.

Whether her Xiao Jiu truly understood or was pretending to understand, Jian Tongyao believed she had ample time to wait patiently.

“Xiao Jiu, this Master bestows you with a name. Wanyu, Qian Wanyu.”

“Thank you, Master.”

…

The person in her arms moved, and Jian Tongyao woke up. The gentle smile lingering at the corner of her mouth hadn’t faded yet. When she felt her Xiao Jiu’s warm breath spraying on her neck, she was still somewhat dazed. Since when had her Xiao Jiu become so bold?

“Mas~ter.”

A voice carrying a hint of wickedness and malice exploded beside her ear. Jian Tongyao waved her hand, directly pushing the person in her embrace away. When she opened her eyes, she met Ling Yan’s gaze, which was filled with malice and a twisted smile. Combined with her beloved’s face, it was full of incongruity, instantly arousing Jian Tongyao’s killing intent.

“Aiya.”

Ling Yan was caught off guard, but it couldn’t stop her good mood at having regained control of the body. She stood up nonchalantly and patted the dust off herself.

“Master, be gentler. Don’t damage this body that your disciple worked so hard to obtain. Do you know how difficult it is to find a compatible body?”

The killing intent emanating from Jian Tongyao grew even stronger.

Ling Yan spread her arms and looked at the red robe on her body. Somewhat dissatisfied, her gaze shifted and she quickly set her sights on the exquisite and adorable storage bag at her waist. She smiled brilliantly as she held it in her hand and weighed it a few times.

“This counts as returning something to its rightful owner.”

Jian Tongyao expressionlessly watched her every move. She saw the triumphant smile on the other’s face freeze after less than two seconds. After letting out a muffled groan, blood overflowed from the corner of her mouth, and her face was full of disbelief.

“Even a storage bag dares to bully me!”

“Heh.”

A trace of the owner’s consciousness remained in the storage bag. No matter what method Ling Yan had used to forcibly move into her Xiao Jiu’s body, it couldn’t change the fact that she was an invading bandit.

Jian Tongyao lightly scratched her chin.

“Dingding, if I devour the soul of the invader, it shouldn’t count as body snatching. Is there any simplified method to completely refine her?”

Chi chi—

The sound of electric current came again. While Jian Tongyao patiently waited for a response, she also appreciated Ling Yan’s exasperated appearance. The other party completely couldn’t break through the restrictions her Xiao Jiu had set, much less devour her Xiao Jiu’s soul.

It was simply a delusional fantasy.

Dingding replied, “Borrow the power of Nirvana. When reborn from death, she can be refined. This can successfully deceive Heaven’s eyes.”

Jian Tongyao fell silent.

Phoenixes underwent Nirvana once every five hundred years, a nine-death and one-life situation. After five hundred years, they would continue to undergo Nirvana and be reborn again. Their lives would cycle endlessly, lasting as long as heaven and earth. However, each rebirth was filled with unknown dangers.

But to let Ling Yan and her Seventh Sister share one body for five hundred years…

Jian Tongyao asked, “Is there no other method?”

Dingding responded, “After Nirvana, it will be a perfectly good phoenix again.”

While Jian Tongyao was lost in thought, Ling Yan suddenly spread her wings and took flight. In phoenix form, she swept across mountains and rivers, disappearing without a trace in the blink of an eye.

Jian Tongyao was amused by Ling Yan’s actions.

“Let’s see what exactly she wants to do.”

When Ling Yan looked back, she didn’t see any trace of Jian Tongyao pursuing her.

“Little ugly freak, it seems your master doesn’t love you that much after all.”

Just as she was feeling smug, a massive golden sword body descended from the sky like a towering mountain, blocking her path.

A handsome man stepped out from behind the sword. He wore golden silk robes embroidered with dragon patterns and moved with easy grace. He gave Ling Yan a playful wink.

“I opened this mountain, I planted this tree. If you want to pass through here, leave behind your head.”

Jian Tongyao, “…”

Where on earth did this idiot come from?

Ling Yan looked the person up and down, then felt very puzzled. She detected a faint scent of Jiao on this person.

“Dragon clan youth, do you know who my master is? You’re blocking my path. Do you not want to live anymore?”

The little golden dragon responded, “You’ve been saying that line for two hundred years. If you’re not sick of it, I am.”

Jian Tongyao, “…”

Such low-quality words don’t slander her Xiao Jiu like that.

The little golden dragon didn’t wait for Ling Yan to process the implications of those words. Countless golden sword bodies had already fired like a volley of arrows. How could Ling Yan have ever seen such a display? She immediately responded in a flurried panic.

Jian Tongyao’s eyes glowed faintly as she stared at the bouncing little golden dragon.

“Dingding, regarding the little golden dragon, do you really have nothing to explain to me?”

The little golden dragon crushed her even faster this time, so much so that it felt unreal. He shook his head in disappointment.

“Compared to her, you’re far inferior.”

Ling Yan had heard enough of such comparative remarks. Her sensitive nerves were repeatedly provoked, and she completely exploded in rage. The little golden dragon wanted to attack Ling Yan again. When he caught sight of Jian Tongyao, fear flashed in his eyes. He quickly retracted all his sword bodies and fled as if he had seen a ghost.

“I’m leaving, I’m leaving.”
