This is a short fifty-chapter novel updating every other day, so you can bookmark it and follow the full run. Before I started, I checked NU and there was no listing at all, so I genuinely thought no one had picked it up. I only discovered another version after my team had already finished their assigned parts, so I couldn’t back out anymore. This was never meant as a snipe. Thank you for understanding and for reading with us!

“Moreover, inside her body there is also… Who goes there!”

Just as Jian Tongyao prepared to perk up her ears to eavesdrop, she suddenly felt a sharp palm wind breaking through the window. Leaves were swept down in droves, and the entire vine was beaten into a dizzy state, unable to distinguish north from south for a moment.

When an expert makes a move, victory is decided in a single stroke.

She was definitely not an opponent.

Yan Song sniffed a hint of demon energy in the surroundings.

“A demon? I leave it to you.”

Jian Tongyao timidly chose to flee. She scurried away in a panic. When she looked back, she faintly saw a figure pursuing her relentlessly. It was not that so-called Master, as that person stood far away on high ground watching, seemingly dismissive of her, a little demon who had rashly intruded. However, the figure tracking her moved with a speed that was in no way inferior to hers. In the pitch-black night, the pursuer moved as if entering an uninhabited land.

The distance between the two constantly shortened. By the aid of the faint moonlight, Jian Tongyao saw a shimmering silver light on the opponent’s neck.

It was Yan Ying!

Damn it.

Jian Tongyao quickly figured out all the crux of the matter in just a few breaths. Yan Ying was that ‘little hussy’ who caused Qian Wanyu to lose favor. The other party had gone up Shenji Mountain a step earlier to become a disciple, taking the opportunity to hook up with Yan Song and whisper pillow talk in Yan Song’s ear.

It seemed like something was not quite right, though.

“Having eavesdropped on our conversation, where do you think you can run to, you little demon?”

“You…”

Seeing each other again, the changes between them could be described as earth-shaking without any exaggeration. Jian Tongyao was puzzled to see that the snake scales exposed on Yan Ying’s skin had changed color. They covered her densely, and the number was far greater than before. Yan Ying’s surface snake scales were usually only released when she was feeding or fighting. It was evident that after not seeing her for a period of time, the other party’s demon power had surged greatly.

Jian Tongyao had not forgotten that the other party had initially devoured a great demon’s core. That demon had cultivation of at least five hundred years or even higher, which meant… Yan Ying now possessed nearly five hundred years or more of cultivation.

The killing intent in Yan Ying’s eyes gradually turned into astonishment. She obviously recognized that the vibrant vine demon before her was the very same one that had been burned into charcoal by a great fire in Linchuan County. The color had changed, but the vine demon she knew was the only one of its kind.

“You didn’t die!”

Jian Tongyao tossed out many fake grass limbs like a celestial maiden scattering flowers to use as cover.

Whoosh.

She scurried even faster along the ground. She did not run down the mountain but instead looked for cliffs and precipices.

Yan Ying eventually lost track of this little vine demon at the edge of a cliff. It was simply because the opponent could not yet take human form, and the opponent wittily seized upon this weakness. Otherwise…

This vine demon must die.

Jian Tongyao hid beneath a stone crevice. Only after that ferocious half-demon had left did she climb down along the cliff wall and return to the place she had agreed upon with the little white fox.

“Xiao Jiu, where did you go?”

“It was really terrible.”

Jian Tongyao had dodged a dangerous pursuit, but the moment she thought of Qian Wanyu lying on the bed knowing nothing, her heart burned with anxiety. She had lost quite a few leaves.

“Xiao Hui, I have encountered difficulties.”

The little white fox tilted her head, hopped in front of her, and patted her chest to guarantee. “Don’t be afraid.”

…

Qian Wanyu was concerned about the little vine demon’s safety. As soon as she heard a commotion, she disregarded her junior sisters’ obstructions and personally went outside Yan Song’s small hut. She found a familiar curled leaf amidst the messy grass.

Yan Song said, “Your injuries are not yet healed. Why did you run to my place? Do you think a mere little demon can harm your Master?”

Qian Wanyu subconsciously hid the curled leaf inside her inner sleeve.

“Master, that little demon, she…”

Yan Ying had not caught her prey and even felt she had been played by a vine demon, so she was full of anger. Upon seeing Qian Wanyu, the killing intent in her eyes did not restrain itself in the slightest as she choked out coldly, “She is dead.”

Qian Wanyu’s vision went black. She dug her fingertips into her palms until they bled before she could barely steady her teetering figure. She looked at the woman with the unfamiliar face before her. She already had an estimation of the other party’s identity.

She asked in disbelief, “You killed her?”

Yan Ying sneered. “An insignificant little vine demon dared to intrude upon Master’s cultivation grounds at night. I will kill as many as come. What’s the matter? Does Senior Sister have an opinion on my demon extermination, or do you feel it is a pity to kill her directly?”

Qian Wanyu’s deep eyes were like an endless abyss, dark enough to be alarming. Her back was straight as she pressed forward step by step. The demon-slaying sword at her waist trembled with a whoosh whoosh sound, seeming as if it would burst out uncontrollably in the next second.

Yan Ying also puffed out her chest without fear, her chin raised slightly as she looked at her provocatively.

The two were at daggers drawn, and the atmosphere was deadlocked. Just as it looked like a duel was about to unfold, Yan Song spoke up in time. “Enough. You have injuries on your body. Go back to your room and lie down. Who bandaged your wounds? They have split open again. Hurry and send your Senior Sister back to her room to rest.”

All of Qian Wanyu’s strength seemed to be drawn away by someone in that instant. She was supported and walked a long way out. Only then did she turn her head. In the night, Yan Ying was intimately holding Yan Song’s arm, and Yan Song’s gaze held a look of doting indulgence and helplessness.

Pfft.

“Senior Sister.”

“Quick, help Senior Sister back to her room.”

Qian Wanyu’s wounds were re-bandaged. When she faintly woke up, it was already the second day. The sun was shining brightly outside. She looked at the swaying tree branches outside the window, and her mind was filled with scenes of the little vine demon tugging at her clothes and acting coquettishly along the journey. Perhaps the light was too glaring, for she wiped the corner of her eye.

“I told you to wait for me at the foot of the mountain, but you didn’t listen.”

The Xiuxiu Sword flew out with a whoosh, scurrying madly around the room like it was crazy.

Qian Wanyu said, “What, do you want to avenge her?”

The Xiuxiu Sword floated in front of her.

When Qian Wanyu stood up to dress, a green curled leaf fell out of her inner sleeve. The leaf still retained its vitality. She stroked it lightly with her fingers, as if caressing her lover. Finally, she placed a gentle kiss on it.

“Don’t be afraid. I will avenge you.”

Yan Ying sneaked down the mountain surreptitiously. Qian Wanyu followed closely behind. Watching the other party take a small path with many twists and turns, her expression turned sharp, and she quickened her pace to chase after her. In the blink of an eye, the person vanished.

Qian Wanyu could not help but frown. Did the other party discover her?

Yan Ying hid in the dark, watching Qian Wanyu searching for her like a headless fly. The corners of her mouth curled up into a bloodthirsty smile.

Just wait. I will personally take your life.

Clang!

Clang clang!

The Xiuxiu Sword seemed to sense something and shot out with a whoosh, flying a long distance away before looking back. Qian Wanyu hurriedly chased after it.

“Lead the way.”

The Xiuxiu Sword led her along a path of thorny bushes. Judging from the traces, it looked like a path no one walked. Qian Wanyu grew more suspicious the further she walked. It was not until the tip of her nose caught the scent of blood that she quickened her pace.

“Who!”

“Who killed you all!”

Yan Ying had brought three demons up to Shenji Mountain. However, the demon energy on these three demons was exceptionally obvious, so she had them find a place on the mountainside to hide. The result…

She looked at the three corpses lying on the ground with gnashed teeth. There were many scratch marks on the corpses. The first thing she thought of was the little white fox beside that vine demon.

Qian Wanyu held the uncontrollably trembling Xiuxiu Sword and clearly saw the demons lying on the ground, having reverted to their true forms. There were three of them, and she was unusually familiar with them. Along their journey of training, she and Jiang Qin had spent a lot of effort to capture them in the demon-sealing bag, but they had all been released by Yan Ying.

Her clothes tightened as if she had been tugged.

Qian Wanyu was slightly dazed. This kind of small movement really seemed like… The other party did not give her any chance to continue indulging in her thoughts and gave her another small tug. She snapped back to reality and saw a familiar green vine eagerly curling its leaves, timidly trying to attract her attention.

Jian Tongyao and the little white fox lay prostrate carefully, pushing aside the grass to reveal their full appearance, and waved slightly at Qian Wanyu.

Qian Wanyu remained silent.

She subconsciously pinched the vine in her hand, pinching it so hard that the person on the other end burst into tears. When she discovered this, she let go in a hurry.

Yan Ying had gone crazy with anger. Under her enraged emotions, snake scales surfaced on her face again, exposing her directly under Qian Wanyu’s eyelids. The joy of regaining what was lost had not yet been properly experienced before it was replaced by anger. Just as she prepared to get up, her clothes were tugged slightly again.

Jian Tongyao waited until the person left and looked back to ensure the other party would not turn back like a psycho before she secretly shifted to Qian Wanyu’s side.

“Why did you come down the mountain?”

Qian Wanyu’s fingers traced the other party’s brows and eyes in detail. Jian Tongyao felt ticklish at the touch and tried to back away, but she was restrained. She could only allow the other party to knead her face vigorously.

“It hurts.”

This was her Xiao Jiu.

Qian Wanyu pulled the person into her embrace. “You’re alright. That is wonderful.”

Jian Tongyao’s soft bones were almost snapped by the hug, but noticing that the other party’s emotions were not quite right, she did not struggle much. Suddenly, she thought of Qian Wanyu’s action of following Yan Ying.

“You followed Yan Ying. Did you discover something wrong with her?”

Qian Wanyu asked, “Yan Ying?”

Jian Tongyao nodded. “Yes, she wants to harm you. Yesterday, I heard her conspiring with your Master to harm you. There is an unspeakable secret between the two of them. I just didn’t have time to hear what the secret was before I was discovered.”

Shenji Mountain was worthy of being Shenji Mountain. If it were any other day, no one would have discovered her even if she nestled in the grass to listen to the wall.

When saying this, Jian Tongyao was actually beating a drum in her heart, deeply afraid that the other party would not believe her and only believe that damn Master. As a result, Qian Wanyu was uncharacteristically calm after hearing it.

Seeing her staring with a pair of big eyes and a face full of anticipation, Qian Wanyu could not help but reach out and pinch the other party’s face. “So you were worried about me, which is why you planned to strike first and deal with the three demons under her command?”

Speaking of this matter, Jian Tongyao was somewhat proud.

“I asked Xiao Hui to help deal with them. Otherwise, I couldn’t handle three demons. Xiao Hui is very amazing.”

“That is right. Xiao Jiu is not afraid.”

The little white fox sat to the side, obedient like a Samoyed.

Jian Tongyao tugged at Qian Wanyu’s sleeve. “Don’t go back. Let’s run away together. They definitely dug a trap waiting for you. You promised me you wouldn’t leave me behind.”

Qian Wanyu kissed the center of her brow. “Don’t be afraid. I won’t leave you behind. But Yan Ying must die. If she stays on Shenji Mountain, Shenji Mountain will have no peace. This is, after all, the place where I have lived for over ten years.”

Jian Tongyao had a sudden inspiration. “Take me with you.”

…

After Qian Wanyu went up the mountain, she went straight to see Yan Song. The furnishings in the room were consistent with the day she returned. A vague scent wafted past the tip of her nose, and only then was she convinced why this scent was so familiar. It was the scent on Yan Ying’s body.

“Master, before I leave, I have a matter I wish to report to you. I hope to obtain your approval and blessing.”

Yan Song fiddled with the incense on the table with a usual expression. “You came at a coincidence. As a teacher, I also have a matter I need to tell you. However, seeing you are so anxious, speak of your matter first.”

“I have fallen in love with a demon.”
