“It’s a pity. Even modern experts can’t read all the ancient script. Otherwise, who knows, we might have been able to recreate that legendary mecha,” Ge Qing sighed with regret.

Read all the old characters?

Jiang Momo thought about it seriously but decided not to mention that she could read them all.

“Didn’t you say the legendary mecha manufacturing method was lost?”

“Actually, we suspect some ancient books still record the method for building legendary mechas but no one can read the script anymore, so it’s never been discovered.” Talking about this, Ge Qing’s eyes turned a bit feverish.

Jiang Momo looked at him and felt something was off in his logic.

Even if she could only recognize 60% of the Federation’s writing now, she could more or less figure out what a book was about by guessing. If Ge Qing could read books on A-grade mecha manufacturing, then he shouldn’t be unable to understand books with legendary mecha methods in them.

After thinking it through, Jiang Momo decided to keep quiet.

“I’ll take this book back first. If there’s anything I don’t understand, can I come to ask you?”

“Of course. You’re welcome anytime.” Ge Qing smiled.

“Thank you very much.” Jiang Momo gave a small bow, took two steps back, and left the office.

On her way out, she opened her light brain and poked the Siamese cat lying down watching a comedy movie. “Little Eight, I remember you said I’d be able to learn A-grade mecha manufacturing after getting into the Mecha Manufacturing Department. But judging by what Ge Qing said, that’s not really the case? Even graduating students only learn B-grade mechas.”

[Didn’t you already learn it?] Little Eight slurped a byte of data cola, lifted its head lazily, and showed off a fluffy forehead.

Jiang Momo froze and looked down at the ancient book in her hands.

[Let me look through the book first when we get back, then you can study.]

“Okay, I’ll flip through it for you then,” Jiang Momo said.

[No need. Just prepare for class. The apartment has mechanical arms.]

“I’m not planning to go back to the apartment right now. I’m going to check out my dorm.” Jiang Momo chuckled and teased it. “It’s rare for Little Eight to be wrong about something.”

The Siamese cat slapped its own face with a paw. [You’re going the wrong way. That’s the direction of the main gate.]

“Huh?” Jiang Momo stopped immediately, took a closer look at the road signs, and realized she really had gone the wrong way. She quickly turned around and headed toward the dorms.

[Don’t you need to go back to the apartment to get your stuff?] Little Eight reminded her.

“But the apartment is so far from the academy. If I stay there tonight, I won’t make it in time for my 8 AM class tomorrow,” Jiang Momo said helplessly. “It’s not like I have a spaceship.”

[Who said you don’t?] Little Eight’s voice couldn’t quite hide its excitement.

Jiang Momo knew that tone well. It usually meant Little Eight had secretly prepared a surprise for her.

She kept a straight face, changed direction, and headed for the school gate. “Where would I get a spaceship?” she asked curiously.

Little Eight stayed silent.

Jiang Momo grew more and more curious, and she quickened her pace until she finally started running.

When she reached the school gate’s bulletin board, she glanced at it out of habit. For some reason, there were a lot of students gathered around it like something big had been announced.

She hesitated between her curiosity about the spaceship and the bulletin content and then stopped.

“What’s going on?” Jiang Momo was stuck at the back of the crowd. She tapped someone in front of her on the shoulder and asked.

Zhu Qian turned around, her eyes lighting up. “It’s you again! What a coincidence!”

Jiang Momo quickly recognized Zhu Qian. She was the pretty senior she had seen last time when they were watching Jiang Yingying and E Mingjun with a few others!

“Senior, long time no see! What are you looking at?”

“I’m reading this year’s report on cheating in the freshman exams. Oh my god, it’s wild. 82 people cheated this year and they all got caught,” Zhu Qian’s tone was dramatic. “Too bad, the report says that even though they had prepared to cheat, they didn’t actually do it during the exam, so they only got a warning and their grades were kept.”

“What’s the point of a warning?” Jiang Momo was puzzled.

Getting caught cheating didn’t get them kicked out?

“Just one warning is enough to get you forcibly sent to the Solo Soldier Department for a year of training,” Zhu Qian explained. “That department’s training is really tough and follows a military-style regime. Plus, since our college’s mecha-related departments are the top programs, the Solo Soldier Department always lacks students. So when someone breaks the rules, they’re often sent there for some toughening up.”

That kind of training, purely to strengthen willpower and discipline, was considered a useless program by most federal universities these days and many had already canceled it.

“What if a student from the Solo Soldier Department breaks the rules?” Jiang Momo was genuinely curious. She had never looked into that stuff before.

“Students from the Solo Soldier Department don’t break the rules,” Zhu Qian said firmly. “They don’t have the energy to. Even the most rebellious ones come out disciplined after spending some time there.”

“It’s that intense?” Jiang Momo found it hard to believe.

Wouldn’t Jiang Yingying have eight meltdowns a day there?

Zhu Qian nodded. “The most disciplined students in the college, with the fittest bodies, are definitely from the Solo Soldier Department.”

Then she pointed at a figure sprinting toward them from a distance. “That lunatic over there? He’s definitely from the Mecha Piloting Department.”

Soon, the ‘lunatic’ Zhu Qian referred to ran up to them.

“Master! I rushed here the moment the exam ended!” Yan Chang came to a screeching halt in front of Jiang Momo, then turned to Zhu Qian, and asked her, “Is this your friend?”

“Yeah, she’s the head of the Student Council’s Disciplinary Committee,” Jiang Momo nodded.

“Ah, I know her, we’re old acquaintances.” Yan Chang cheerfully shook hands with Zhu Qian, then stepped back to Jiang Momo’s side, and whispered into her ear, “Master, your charm is something else. Even the ice queen is smiling at you.”

“If you didn’t break the school rules, I’d smile at you too, Young Master.” Zhu Qian’s face turned cold again, arms crossed.

“See? That’s the face,” Yan Chang made a dramatic gesture like a lovesick maiden and winked at Jiang Momo. “I’m clearly such a model student.”

Zhu Qian laughed dryly, an expression of speechless disbelief painted all over her face. “If violations were awards instead, you’d win Outstanding Student of the Year, Young Master.”

“Why does she call you ‘Young Master’?” Jiang Momo whispered to Yan Chang.

“No idea but I feel like she’s mocking me,” Yan Chang replied seriously.

Zhu Qian heard that and turned her head, taking a deep breath. “Where are you two headed?” she looked back at Jiang Momo, her expression turning cheerful again. “By the way, have you seen our president lately? He hasn’t been back to the Student Council in days.”

Jiang Momo shook her head. “Nope, I haven’t seen him in a long time either.”

“Alright.” Zhu Qian shrugged. “If you see him, pass on a message for me. There’s a small matter the Student Council needs him to handle.”

“Why not just contact him through his light brain?” Jiang Momo asked.

“Because he didn’t leave us any contact info.” Zhu Qian spread her hands. “In this whole school, the number of people with his contact info can be counted on one hand.”

“Do you have E Mingjun’s contact info?” Jiang Momo turned to Yan Chang.

“Of course.” Yan Chang nodded.

“Forget it. I don’t trust Young Master to pass on my message. He’d probably twist it,” Zhu Qian said.

His personality was terrible and only those he truly acknowledged could keep his behavior in check. She clearly didn’t meet the bar.

Yan Chang grinned. “You know me too well.”

“Let me try contacting him.” Jiang Momo opened her friend list and initiated a voice call. It was quickly picked up and then instantly hung up. When she called again, it just rang busy.

“He must be busy.” Jiang Momo looked up.

“No rush. If you see him, just let him know. It’s not a big deal.” Zhu Qian waved it off. “I’m heading out. See you next time.”

“Bye~” Jiang Momo waved as she watched her run off.

“Let’s go, Master! I’ll treat you to dinner! Then we’ll plan for the mecha competition.” Yan Chang perked up now that Zhu Qian was gone.

Jiang Momo’s eyes lit up. “The mecha competition is scheduled?”

“Yep, it’s just announced the news, from this Friday to Sunday, for three days.” Yan Chang stared intently at Jiang Momo’s face. “You’re free, right? Take a day off Friday, it won’t take up too much time.”

Jiang Momo paused, then pulled up her class schedule to check. “I don’t have class on Friday,” she said.

“You guys already got placed in classes? Voting hasn’t even finished. How do you have a schedule?” Yan Chang asked a barrage of questions.

Jiang Momo shared her screen.

Yan Chang leaned in to look and then rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “I never paid attention to this stuff before. Maybe they use the same schedule for all students in the same subject. Anyway, with so many classes in the Mecha Manufacturing Department, it’s easy to schedule around.”

“Whatever the case, I can go with you to the competition.” Jiang Momo closed her light brain and sneakily petted the Siamese cat resting on the homepage, her mood was great.

“What do you want to eat later? That same restaurant from last time?” Yan Chang asked as they walked out.

Jiang Momo shook her head. “Nah, I’m heading back to my apartment to prep for class. Tomorrow’s my first time teaching and I’m a bit nervous.”

She also planned to pack everything that night and move out in one go tomorrow. She already had a dorm, so there was no need to waste money on the smart system fees at her apartment.

Still unaware of her plans to move out, Yan Chang grinned like a fool. “Then I’ll walk you back.”

“No need, I’m flying home,” Jiang Momo declined again.

“You got a new spaceship?” Yan Chang’s eyes lit up. “Let me see!”

Jiang Momo hesitated. “It’s probably… not new.”

“Even if it’s not, I still want to see it.” Yan Chang insisted on staying. After a bit of back and forth, the light brain on his wrist blinked and his expression changed. “I have to go, Master. Something came up at home.”

“Goodbye.” Jiang Momo watched him leave, then quickly walked out of the school gate. She quietly asked her Siamese cat, “Little Eight, where’s the ship?”

[Look up.]

Jiang Momo looked up and there it was, a familiar spaceship descending from the sky.

It was the same one the Jiang family used to bring her back to the Capital Star!

“Amazing, Little Eight! This is my ship!” Jiang Momo was thrilled.

It was the ship she had fought to get from her eldest brother in the Jiang family. She had regretted not taking it with her when she left in a hurry.

It was modified from a warship and with Little Eight’s data fully integrated, it would be way more comfortable than staying inside a robot or light brain!

“How did you get it here? Didn’t the Jiang family notice?!”
