The Real Daughter Just Wants to Pilot Mechas - Chapter 153
It might be the most-watched livestream in history. After such a long period of panic-filled build-up, it wasn’t just ordinary citizens paying attention, even staff within the federal government, including the military and the research institute, were unusually focused.
At that moment, Qin Chu was once again dragged into the conference room. When she saw Jiang Momo’s familiar face on the giant screen, her drowsiness vanished instantly and she sobered up immediately.
“That’s Jiang Momo! She and I worked together on the simulation system!” Qin Chu whispered excitedly, tugging at her colleague’s sleeve.
Her colleague glanced away from the light brain interface. “She’s so young. And articulate too.”
“Right? And she’s super nice,” Qin Chu said passionately. “She’s a teacher at the Central Mecha Academy and she has public online courses. I’ll send you the link. I’ve watched them three times already. They are really interesting…”
At that moment, the seat at the center of the round table, meant for the director, was conspicuously empty. Around it, several vice directors and other top-level staff exchanged sharp glances, tension crackling between them. The rest of the employees stared blankly at the screen.
All alien beast activity in the Central Star System was first detected and handed off by their research institute. No one knew better than they did how dire the current situation was. So, rather than focusing on the live stream, most of them were more concerned about who would become the next director.
On the large screen at the front of the conference room, Jiang Momo continued speaking with ease. Beside her stood Lu Feng, smiling with an expression of shared pride.
The President, watching Lu Feng’s expression, turned and joked to the person beside him, “That officer surnamed Lu meeting Jiang Momo is like me meeting you, pure luck.”
E Mingjun sat in a single armchair, resting his head on one hand. “I thought you called me here for something urgent.”
“Isn’t this the most urgent thing right now?” the President said cheerfully, raising his glass.
E Mingjun didn’t respond, just stared at the President for a while without saying a word.
Sensing the mood, the President chuckled awkwardly. “Honestly, your friend’s a great speaker. If she had a bit more background, with that level of influence, she could probably run for president in a few years.”
E Mingjun still didn’t respond.
The President cleared his throat. “You also know the presidential term is ending soon.”
“Your approval rating should be high by now,” E Mingjun said directly.
The President looked a little uneasy. “If it weren’t for those scandals, it would be.”
“Those scandals were leaked by the research institute’s director,” E Mingjun said. “The former director.”
The President’s eyes lit up. “Do you have evidence?”
“Not yet.” E Mingjun looked up. “I’m not some top-tier hacker or detective. It’s impossible to find solid proof in such a short time.”
Right after he spoke, E Mingjun’s light brain lit up.
A compressed file arrived from an unknown number, with only four words attached.
[Send to the President.]
E Mingjun felt something was off. He opened the file and froze the moment he saw its contents, then immediately tried to reply.
[E Mingjun]: Who are you?
The message wouldn’t send and an error popped up saying the recipient didn’t exist.
A second later, the number disappeared as well, leaving only the compressed file sitting alone in his downloads list.
“What’s wrong?” The President leaned over to ask.
E Mingjun rarely spent so long looking at his light brain in front of him, so the President instinctively felt it was related.
“If I do find evidence, what are you offering in return?” E Mingjun looked up.
The President answered quickly, “I’ve thought about that already. Isn’t the research institute director’s position still vacant?”
“What use is that to me?” E Mingjun frowned.
The President waved it off. “Aren’t you friends with that Momo? She’s riding a huge wave right now. I can find a chance to promote her.”
That way, he’d have another of his people in a key post. A guaranteed win.
E Mingjun didn’t think it was very reliable. After all, the research institute was under the jurisdiction of the Congress. If the President had that kind of power, he wouldn’t have been sidelined for so long.

At the border planet, Jiang Momo had just shared everything in the livestream: the inspiration behind her legendary mecha design, its origin during the Alien Beast War, its capabilities, and its side effects. Only when she finished did she finally stop, still feeling unsatisfied.
Lu Feng immediately stepped in to give a closing summary.
The live stream ended.
“We’re going back?” Jiang Momo, seeing the cameras all being dismantled, turned and headed straight for the military ship they came on.
Lu Feng noticed she seemed a little upset and quickly followed, trying to offer emotional support.
“That script you prepared was really solid.”
“I didn’t prepare a script. I didn’t even know there was going to be an interview,” Jiang Momo said, regaining her composure and sitting down on the sofa.
Lu Feng immediately realized the issue. “I thought you asked for the military uniform because you know about the interview.”
Jiang Momo paused and then facepalmed with one hand. “Next time something like this comes up, confirm the process with me in advance.”
She was just glad she was a teacher, so she was already used to speaking in front of a class. Otherwise, with such a large audience, it would’ve been a total embarrassment.
“Got it.” Lu Feng apologized quickly.
Seeing that Jiang Momo truly didn’t mind, he opened his light brain to check the livestream’s feedback.
As soon as he opened it, he was shocked by what was trending.
“The former director of the research institute embezzled billions over five years and has now fled with the money?!” Lu Feng exclaimed.
“Hmm?”
Jiang Momo, still reviewing her own performance, perked up at that. She opened her light brain and saw that aside from the live stream, the hot topics were flooded with scandals about the former director. It was so detailed it even included chat logs with others, surveillance footage, text, and image evidence. It showed not only the former director’s monopolistic actions in the mecha manufacturing industry, but also corruption, bribery, and trading power for sex…
Jiang Momo stared at the screen for a long while in shock and then suddenly noticed something was missing. She instinctively searched around.
Wait, where’s Little Eight?!
