The Real Daughter Just Wants to Pilot Mechas - Chapter 142
Jiang Momo looked at the text on her light brain and then glanced at Yan Yunkui standing not far away, eyes downcast as he stared at the panel data. She turned slightly, backing to him, and mouthed silently, “Little Eight, I have a new property under my name?”
[No notice on my end either. I’ll go check.]
Little Eight was also confused. Its tail flicked as it hurriedly vanished in front of Jiang Momo.
Jiang Momo waited a while but Little Eight didn’t return.
Instead, Yan Chang woke up.
“He’s awake!” Yan Yunkui’s excited voice echoed sharply through the space.
Jiang Momo snapped her head around and rushed over. Before Yan Chang’s gaze could clear, she quickly put away the materials she had brought. While standing out of his line of sight, she mouthed ‘keep it secret’’ to Yan Yunkui.
Yan Yunkui nodded with effort and immediately began a basic check-up on Yan Chang. He raised the top half of the bed so Yan Chang could sit up and handed him a bottle of pre-prepared nutrient solution.
Yan Chang weakly reached out and took it.
He looked entirely different from before. His features were sharp, eyes deep, and limbs long. He stood well over 190 cm. His fiery red hair was smooth and glossy, the ends cascading down to his waist. A loose strand hung on his forehead, softening the cold edge of his new aura.
His gaze was deep and unreadable. No emotion was visible within until it landed on Jiang Momo standing behind him, only then did it soften noticeably.
Jiang Momo, standing just behind him, didn’t see the emotion in his eyes. Her gaze was entirely fixated on his newly developed muscles.
He didn’t even train! He just took a nap and came out looking like that?! Totally unfair.
Staring at how the hospital gown strained against his bulked-up frame, her emotions were complicated.
[Found it, Momo. There really was a property transaction recently. But this kind of high-end deal is extremely confidential.]
Little Eight popped out, its chubby face bumping into hers excitedly.
“Confidential enough that even I, the recipient, wasn’t notified?” Jiang Momo was incredulous.
[It’s absurd, but true. High-end floating islands are off-limits to the general public. Access passes are priceless.]
Little Eight licked its fur.
[Only one access pass was approved in the last six months. Guess who got it?]
“Someone from the Jiang family?” Jiang Momo asked, quickly helping Yan Yunkui support Yan Chang’s movements while subtly keeping up the conversation with Little Eight.
[So smart, you guessed it!]
“That’s because your tone was practically dripping with contempt.” Jiang Momo braced Yan Chang’s arm, helping him adjust to his new body.
Little Eight, disappointed that the fun was over, flicked its tail and vanished again.
Jiang Momo shook her head. Little Eight always claimed it didn’t have human emotions but in her eyes, it was even more emotional than she was.
“Momo.” A deep voice came from above.
Jiang Momo jumped slightly and looked up at the familiar yet unfamiliar face. She cleared her throat and spoke calmly, “What is it?”
“How long did I sleep?” Yan Chang asked.
Jiang Momo turned to Yan Yunkui.
Yan Yunkui, eyelids heavy with fatigue, held up three fingers from where he stood by the machines. “Three days.”
“That long?” Yan Chang tried to straighten up and balance himself. Then he slipped free of Jiang Momo’s support and took a few steady steps forward. Turning back, he said to her, “I’m fine now.”
Jiang Momo’s eyes swept across Yan Chang and Yan Yunkui before she nodded. “Got it. I’ll be going then.”
As Jiang Momo’s figure disappeared, Yan Yunkui leaned against the wall, looking serious. “Do you have any orders for me?”
“No,” Yan Chang replied instantly.
“Then why send her away?”
“She’s been here for three days. She needs to rest,” Yan Chang answered naturally.
Yan Yunkui: “?”
“What about me?! Who needs rest the most?!” He pointed at his black eye bags, his voice nearly cracking from disbelief.

After returning home, Jiang Momo took a good nap. Then she pulled the materials she had brought back from the hospital out of her pocket and tossed them into her storage box. The moment they landed, she scanned the contents mentally, only to find an important problem.
The box was a complete mess. Everything was piled in randomly and needed sorting.
Without hesitation, Jiang Momo started pulling items out and organizing them by function.
Halfway through, a mechanical voice sounded at the door.
[Beep. Visitor request. Allow entry?]
[Number of visitors: Four. Purpose: To purchase a legendary mecha.]
Jiang Momo blinked. “Someone finally tracked me down? Let them in.”
As she moved to stash the scattered materials from the living room back into the storage box, the door opened on its own. The entire Jiang family of four stood at the entrance.
“Master, the final’s Mecha Competition is coming up. We’d like to purchase—”
Jiang He had spent the whole way there convincing himself that a master living in a dorm wasn’t weird at all. True experts hid in plain sight. But as soon as he saw who was standing inside, his voice choked off.
He looked down at the address he’d paid a fortune for, then up at the daughter who shared his blood, then at the familiar pile of what looked like junk in her hands; junk they had nearly sold off when she first came home. A strong urge to turn and run surged up.
The other three Jiang family members were just as conflicted. On the way there, Jiang He had bombarded them with stories about the mysterious master; of how she possessed rare materials, how her skill was unmatched, how she kept a low profile.
And now, seeing Jiang Momo, the useless girl, holding that same ‘trash’ they’d once discarded, their minds short-circuited with regret.
Facing their sudden appearance, Jiang Momo busied herself pretending to tidy up and didn’t look up. “A-grade mecha, two million. S-grade mecha, ten million. Legendary mecha, a hundred million.”
Jiang He reacted immediately, furious. “We’re your family!”
Jiang Momo: “The price’s double for the family.”
Jiang He was even more enraged and opened his mouth to scold her for being irresponsible toward Jiang Yingying but then saw her utterly unmoved face and hesitated. “You’re joking, right?”
“I am joking,” Jiang Momo said with a smile as she looked up. “Our Federation doesn’t allow S-grade mecha sales. So you can only choose A-grade or legendary. Oh, and neither is in stock. What I said just now was the deposit price.”
Jiang He clenched his fists, arm tightening, ready to punch something.
Jiang Momo calmly added, “It’s okay. None of this stuff is that expensive. If you break it, just pay up.”
Jiang He silently lowered the fist he’d raised to punch the wall.
