The Real Daughter Just Wants to Pilot Mechas - Chapter 117
As Jiang Momo flipped open a page, she suddenly thought of something and turned to the two standing behind her, looking at each other in confusion. “You guys go ahead and eat. Don’t mind me.”
“How could we do that?”
Yan Chang felt a bit embarrassed but then he saw E Mingjun, who was already seated as instructed, tearing into the roasted meat before him. After looking around, Yan Chang also sat down, although still somewhat uneasy. “Shouldn’t we wait for Master?”
“The roast meat becomes too tough to chew when it cools down, and reheating it doesn’t help.” E Mingjun placed a piece of meat on Yan Chang’s plate. “Momo made this apology dinner especially for you, so at least eat a little.”
Convinced, Yan Chang lowered his head and took a bite. Suddenly, his movements froze.
The meat was dry and tough. Although the seasoning masked most of the meat’s original flavor, it still had a peculiar sour and rancid taste.
He looked up at E Mingjun who was calmly picking up the stir-fried wild vegetables and placing them in his mouth. “What kind of meat is this?”
“Alien beast meat,” E Mingjun replied without changing his expression.
Yan Chang’s face instantly turned green. “I don’t recall alien beasts being on the list of edible animals.”
“It’s fine. It’s edible. Jiang Momo said she grew up eating this before she came to the Capital Star,” E Mingjun spoke nonchalantly.
“What kind of life did Master have before?” Yan Chang murmured wistfully. Following E Mingjun’s lead, he picked up a piece of stir-fried wild vegetable and shifted his gaze to Jiang Momo’s back. “I remember I have a breeding planet under my name. Maybe I can gift it to Master later.”
Yan Chang waited for Jiang Momo’s reaction but nothing came.
As soon as Jiang Momo opened Ye Fei’s Diary 3, she entered a state of deep concentration, entirely absorbed and oblivious to the conversation behind her.
At that moment, all her attention was drawn to the diary’s content.
Although Diary 2 and Diary 3 seemed like a series from their titles, the dates didn’t follow consecutively. The beginning of the Ye Fei’s Diary 3 was already three years later.

A new year starts tomorrow. I’m broke and need to find a job. It’d be great if I had an assistant.
[Star Calendar 6116, June 1, Tuesday, light rain]
This damn place rains every day. My knee hurts. I shouldn’t have spent the last of my money to come here. The resources of this medical planet are mediocre. Damn mental overload syndrome.
[Star Calendar 6116, June 10, Thursday, light rain]
Damn it. If this keeps up, I’ll die. The Medical Department here claims to be researching new drugs. I even volunteered as a guinea pig, but nothing worked.
[Star Calendar 6116, August 9, Monday, light rain]
The Medical Department claims they found a solution. They say that extracting part of my mental power will stabilize my condition. But I’m suspicious. They never made me sign any life-and-death waiver before each experiment. Are they planning an organ trade?
[Star Calendar 6115, August 16, Monday, light rain]
The Medical Department is pushing me again. I hate being rushed. I’ll go check it out.
[Star Calendar 6115, August 23, Monday, light rain]
It’s strange. They fixed a portable treatment device on me, claiming it would extract my energy. Without energy, the excess mental power would dissipate naturally. Seems like a good idea.
[Star Calendar 6115, September 3, Friday, light rain]
The device actually works! My physical condition is recovering quickly, even stronger than before. It’s time to find a job and pay off my debt.
[Star Calendar 6115, September 29, Wednesday, light rain]
Back to my old trade, mecha manufacturing at the military camp!
[Star Calendar 6115, September 30, Thursday, light rain]
The camp doesn’t trust me. My mental power test only reached the A-rank, so they assigned me to the front line. I didn’t even get the gatekeeping job at the warehouse. I don’t want to go to the battlefield!
[Star Calendar 6115, October 1, Friday, light rain]
I’m doomed. I’m heading to the battlefield tomorrow. They only gave me a rundown B-grade mecha with insufficient energy. No backup energy either. Regulations don’t allow the treatment device on the field. Forget it. I’ll embed it in the backup energy box.
[Star Calendar 6115, October 2, Saturday, light rain]
Something’s off. Something big just happened. Am I the reincarnation of a martial god? These alien beasts die instantly on contact!
[Star Calendar 6115, October 3, Sunday, light rain]
My second day on the job and my military achievements are skyrocketing. Promotion and a raise are within reach!
Jiang Momo skimmed through the diary, forming some thoughts. She quickly flipped through the pages, finding mostly battle records. Taking a deep breath, she picked up Ye Fei’s Diary 4.
[Star Calendar 6115, December 7, Tuesday, clear]
Something’s wrong. I need to desert the battlefield.
[Star Calendar 6115, December 10, Friday, overcast]
All my old friends have moved. Do I have anything left to prove my identity? I need an identity that carries weight.
[Star Calendar 6115, December 11, Saturday, overcast]
I discovered that the Federal Army in the core warzone is using the S-grade mecha I invented! I haven’t found any concrete clues but I have a feeling that I’m about to become famous again!
[Star Calendar 6116, January 5, Saturday, clear]
I knew it! I was right! This thing works! I’ll buy that medical planet and mass-produce this special mecha!
[Star Calendar 6116, May 5, Friday, clear]
Something’s not right. The mecha is impractical. Only those with exceptionally high mental power can pilot it. Those people can already slay alien beasts with S-grade mechas without harming the allies around them.
[Star Calendar 6116, May 6, Saturday, clear]
It’s over. Someone died. This is the first non-combat casualty. I need to pack up and flee. This mecha’s influence on allies is too severe. It might soon be banned.
Jiang Momo closed the book, looking up to see Yan Chang and E Mingjun squatting in front of her.
“Well? What’s it about, Master? What does the book say?” Yan Chang’s curiosity was almost unbearable. “Is it really about the legendary mecha?”
“Yes.” Jiang Momo nodded and decided to forcefully shut down her light brain.
Following her lead, Yan Chang and E Mingjun tossed their light brains aside.
Jiang Momo hesitated. “You said this book was left by the Yan family’s ancestor. Was his name Ye Fei?”
Yan Chang blinked. “Probably not but our ancestor was the legendary mecha manufacturer.”
Jiang Momo nodded. “That makes sense. These books are his diaries. I previously found Diary 2 at the Central Mecha Academy’s library and discovered the method for making S-grade mechas. Now we have 1, 3, and 4 here. They roughly describe the process of making the legendary mecha.”
She walked to the table, sat down, and picked up a piece of roast meat to eat. “Yan Chang, do you still have that B-grade mecha from before?”
“Yes, I always carry it. Why do you need it?” Yan Chang took out the mecha space button from his pocket and placed it on the table next to Jiang Momo.
“The diary says that the legendary mecha was developed based on the B-grade mecha,” Jiang Momo struggled to swallow the meat before replying.
“B-grade mecha?!” Yan Chang was so shocked his voice almost cracked. “How could that be? Isn’t it supposed to be upgraded from an S-grade mecha to become legendary? The research institute’s private studies all go in that direction!”
Jiang Momo shook her head. “If I hadn’t seen the diary, I wouldn’t have thought of it either. But it actually makes sense. Considering the properties of the energy core, except when it encounters someone whose mental power is overwhelmingly strong, it usually drains energy or mental power from the person. As for the alien beasts, being physically strong but mentally weak, they would naturally be countered by the energy core and could even be instantly drained.”
Yan Chang was deeply shaken and mumbled, “Amazing… Our ancestor really created something to deal with the alien beasts.”
“Originally, this invention wasn’t intended to deal with the alien beasts,” Jiang Momo sighed. “Using it in combat was just a coincidence.”
“What was its original purpose before being used in battle?” Yan Chang’s curiosity surged.
“To treat mental overload syndrome.” Jiang Momo suddenly realized something. “So, the reason you kept pushing me to sleep early was because I also have mental overload syndrome?”
Yan Chang let out a dry laugh. “Medically, it’s not considered a disease. Besides, we already have a solution, right? So, does the diary explain how to make the legendary mecha? Is it complicated?”
“It doesn’t seem complicated.” Jiang Momo took out the B-grade mecha from the space button and then removed the outer shell of the mecha’s back panel. She took out the backup energy source, received the energy core from E Mingjun, inserted it, and closed the panel.
“All done.”
Jiang Momo clapped her hands and then noticed Yan Chang’s eyes starting to lose focus. She grabbed him by the back of his neck and dragged him back more than ten meters.
