Jiang Momo glanced at Jiang He’s wheelchair and roughly guessed how his leg injury happened. She kept a neutral expression and followed Jiang Xian onto the spaceship.

As arranged by Jiang Xian, Jiang Momo sat on the long sofa in the center, on the left of Jiang He, while Jiang Xian sat on his right. Jiang Zhang sat at the lower table, while Jiang Yingying made tea at a nearby low table.

“Yingying is still in the Single Combat Department,” Jiang Zhang mentioned with a polite smile, noticing Jiang Momo looking at Jiang Yingying.

“Isn’t the Single Combat Department pretty good?” Jiang Momo replied.

Jiang Xian shot Jiang Zhang a warning look, signaling him to be quiet.

Jiang Momo genuinely thought that Jiang Yingying’s being in the Single Combat Department was impressive. Just looking at her physique, she seemed much healthier.

“Momo, how have you been recently? We haven’t seen much news about you on the Star Network lately,” Jiang Xian asked while looking at her with a worried expression.

Jiang Momo nodded. “I’ve been doing well.”

She’s been trending almost every day.

“That’s good.” Jiang Xian nodded, playing the caring mother role and making small talk for a while. When she noticed that Jiang Momo remained indifferent, she gave up and instructed Jiang Zhang to play some movies to pass the time.

The movies they chose were very interesting. Jiang Momo could tell they were all about familial love.

Most importantly, they were full of enduring, silent affection. Jiang Momo frowned when she saw them. If she had watched them before coming to the Capital Star, she might have cried her heart out. But now, with her blood relatives sitting beside her, she couldn’t feel anything.

After several movies featuring tearful figures on the screen, Jiang Momo shifted in her seat, feeling her bottoms ache, and checked the time in impatience.

“How much longer until we arrive?” she asked.

“By noon the day after tomorrow,” Jiang Zhang replied.

Jiang Momo frowned.

She knew most Jiang family’s factories were located in the Border Star System but she didn’t expect…

“This spaceship doesn’t have spatial jump capability?” She couldn’t believe it.

“It does. We’ll reach the artificial wormhole in about ten hours,” Jiang Zhang explained.

Jiang Momo clarified, “I mean, can this spaceship perform direct spatial jumps?”

Jiang Zhang understood her questions from the get-go but was unwilling to admit the gap between them and the truly wealthy. He hesitated while thinking and, coming up with no alternative ways, said directly yet stiffly, “Those ships aren’t cost-effective.”

Jiang Momo lifted her head slightly. “Forget it. I’ll take a rest.”

She had gotten used to the luxurious spacecraft Wu Yue owned and the ordinary one now felt uncomfortable, especially with the wrong company. Jiang Momo felt that the journey was more arduous than expected.

“I’ll take you to your room,” Jiang Xian said, leading Jiang Momo to the innermost cabin before leaving her to rest.

The room was sparse with only a table, a chair, a wardrobe, and a bed.

Jiang Momo lay down and as soon as she closed her eyes, she fell asleep.

When she woke up, she felt refreshed and her mind was unprecedentedly clear. A sudden thought flashed through her mind.

To reach the Border Star System from the Central Star System, you have to pass through the Chaos Star System… Wasn’t this walking right into a trap? She hadn’t gotten what she needed yet!

“Why is it so quiet outside?” Jiang Momo quickly got up and opened the door.

Outside, the Jiang family members sat silently on the sofa and the atmosphere was tense.

“How far are we now?” she asked.

“We’ll arrive in the Chaos Star System in about twenty hours. You should sleep a bit more,” Jiang He said, breaking his long silence.

Jiang Momo warned, “There are a lot of interstellar pirates in the Chaos Star System.”

“I know. I’ve prepared enough toll fees. Don’t worry about it,” Jiang He replied confidently.

Jiang Momo returned to her room and sat on the chair, growing increasingly uneasy. It’s not that she always thought the worst of people but what if? What if the interstellar pirates noticed the Jiang family’s spaceship and just fired a shot from a distance, blowing up the ship? That would be so unfair to her!

With that thought, Jiang Momo immediately messaged E Mingjun.

[Jiang Momo]: E Mingjun, I’m in the Chaos Star System now. Is there anything you want? I’ll buy them for you.

[Stay Away From Me]: You’re in the Chaos Star System? When did you arrive?

[Jiang Momo]: Yeah, I don’t know when exactly. We were headed to the Border Star System and when I woke up, we were already here.

[Stay Away From Me]: Who’s with you?

[Jiang Momo]: The Jiang family. They said they’d give me shares and factories, so I figured I might as well take them.

After sending that, she saw the profile picture on the other side went dim. Half a minute later, it lit up again.

[Stay Away From Me]: Momo, I remember you saying you and the Jiang family would never interact again.

Jiang Momo hesitated, unsure whether to reveal her plan to take back the energy core. She did want to study them secretly and didn’t want to return them to the original owner anytime soon.

Anyways, from E Mingjun’s perspective, Jiang Momo shouldn’t know anything!

After convincing herself, she replied.

[Jiang Momo]: I did say that. Don’t worry. I’ll only take what I should take and won’t get emotionally involved.

She stared at the chat, noticing the other side typing for a long time. Finally, a new message arrived.

[Stay Away From Me]: Does Yan Chang know?

[Jiang Momo]: Of course.

[Stay Away From Me]: Alright, stay safe.

After that, E Mingjun went offline.

Jiang Momo lay back down, resting her right arm behind her head and pondering the conversation they just had.

Lost in thought, she drifted back into unconsciousness.

When she woke up again, the spaceship had already arrived at the factory.

“Did I sleep that long?” Jiang Momo quickly freshened up and glanced at the scenery outside, her face full of disbelief. “Did they put sleeping pills in the air supply equipment?”

[Sleeping pills alone wouldn’t make you sleep this long,] Little Eight remarked sharply. [Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?]

“No, I feel better than ever, even better than after the hospital checkup Yan Chang took me to.” Jiang Momo stretched her limbs and jumped in place a few times.

Then she pushed the door open and went out.

The four members of the Jiang family were still waiting on the spaceship. Seeing Jiang Momo awake, they gathered around with concern.

“Momo, are you feeling unwell? We were just about to wake you up but you were sleeping soundly,” Jiang Xian said.

Jiang Momo looked at Jiang Xian’s eager eyes and instinctively rubbed her temple with one hand. “Not really, maybe I overslept. My head feels a bit groggy, like my brain isn’t quite clear.”

Her mind was unusually sharp at that moment, with fragments of information flashing by, giving her some guesses. She deliberately gave the opposite answer of her actual state.

Based on the previously known information, those small animals sharing the same source as the energy core should have the same function. In other words, if she felt the same way today after interacting with the small animals as when Yan Chang had her approach them, it indicated that the spaceship might also contain energy core or their derivatives.

Jiang Zhang and Jiang He exchanged a subtle glance, which Jiang Momo caught entirely.

“Sorry to keep you waiting. Let’s go take a look,” Jiang Momo said gently, which was rare for her.

Jiang Zhang immediately stepped forward and opened the door.

Jiang Momo walked out.

What greeted her eyes was a massive steel structure. Looking up, Jiang Momo saw that the building blocked out the sky completely, giving off an overwhelming sense of oppression.

“These factories are part of a marginal industry, mainly producing parts and such. The income is stable and doesn’t require much management,” Jiang He explained casually as he led Jiang Momo into the steel giant.

They were in a spacious hall, with several robotic arms coiled above. The entire hall was cold and desolate, devoid of any human presence.

“Take me inside.” Jiang Momo surveyed the area and said, “I recently saw some videos on the Star Network and I have some concerns about taking over this factory.”

“Those are just rumors. We conduct annual health checks for the employees and the results are always normal,” Jiang He replied hastily.

Jiang Momo remained indifferent. “On the way here, I had someone evaluate the Jiang family’s products but the result showed that there is nothing produced by the Jiang family’s factory on the market.”

“This factory is just a subcontractor. The finished goods are transported to the Federation for centralized processing,” Jiang He explained. “That’s why I said the income is stable.

“But if you want to take a look, that’s fine.” Jiang He led the way inside.

Jiang Momo followed.

Soon, they reached the factory interior. Looking around, one area had about a hundred workers, their eyes dull and heads slightly lowered, performing mechanical tasks methodically.

“Their complexion looks terrible.” Jiang Momo turned her head to glance at Jiang He.

Jiang He was unconcerned. “People always look like that at work. I’ve never seen anyone look radiant while working all day.”
