After the joy of their reunion, they’re back to normal.

“Excuse me, could you please let me have your seat?”

Fujiwara Chika turns to Takanashi Rikka, who seems bewildered, and claps her hands.

She scoots closer, wearing a friendly smile, her face framed by beautiful eyes and teeth. It would be hard for anyone to refuse her.

“No.”

Takanashi Rikka’s gaze instantly sharpens.

“Why?!” Fujiwara Chika asks, startled.

“My alliance with Izumi is unbreakable,” Takanashi Rikka answers earnestly. “Don’t even think about separating us.”

What does switching seats have to do with an alliance?

Whatever.

Fujiwara Chika tries a different tack. “How about this? If you’re willing to move, I’ll… I’ll treat you to a bowl of ramen, okay? I’m generous, right?!”

It’s not remotely enticing.

The corner of Hasegawa Izumi’s mouth twitches.

“Still no. Give up. Don’t even think about swaying my resolve with such underhanded tactics.”

Takanashi Rikka shakes her head firmly, her expression unwavering.

“Then there’s nothing else I can do.”

Seeing that their target remains unmoved, Fujiwara Chika feels a bit of regret, but she doesn’t push harder. She simply shrugs her shoulders.

Whatever. We’re classmates anyway.

It’s the same when I’m playing with Izumi-chan after class!

At that moment, the homeroom teacher, clad in a uniform, entered the classroom and reminded everyone, “Please return to your seats. We’re about to begin the orientation.”

“Okay, then we’ll talk about it later, Izumi-chan.”

Fujiwara Chika winked at him, waved, and sauntered away, carelessly choosing an empty seat in which to sit.

“Sage, that guy was?” Once she was gone, Takanashi Rikka asked him about Chika.

“A pretty good friend. Sometimes we play games together,” Hasegawa Izumi replied.

“I see.” Takanashi Rikka nodded thoughtfully, placing her chin on her right hand.

To associate with humans of higher status makes it easier to carry out one’s work and become integrated into the Mortal Realm… Indeed, the Sage’s wisdom is reasonable!

Under the guidance of their homeroom teachers, the students assembled in the school’s main hall to participate in the orientation.

The headmaster spoke, as did some famous upperclassmen. Before long, the orientation concluded.

The students returned to their classrooms.

No classes were scheduled for this day; the main purpose was for everyone to get acquainted. Thus, the homeroom teachers had them introduce themselves.

“Hello, I’m Ishida Taisuke. I’m transferring from the middle school, my family owns a small business, and I like to play basketball…”

The introductions went in order of the seating chart, with each student building off the last. The person before would set the framework, and the next person would use it.

“Implying they’re not new to the school.”

Hasegawa Izumi’s lips curled slightly.

It was pure nonsense, obviously meant to disgust anyone who’d transferred in, clearly aimed at the “Impure” students.

Sure enough, one student who’d attended an unknown middle school tripped over his words under pressure while introducing himself, and the class laughed at him.

“That’s, uh, I’m a transfer student, and I have good grades… My hobbies are, um…”

Nervous, the student slipped into a Kansai accent.

“Ha ha ha…”

If he’d started out speaking in a Kansai accent, he might not have ended up like this, but the abrupt change in dialect triggered the others’ disdain.

Still, even if the student’s mental fortitude was lacking, the atmosphere was uncomfortable.

All in all, it was a very provincial environment.

“I’m Takanashi Rikka…”

The girl he’d identified as a kindred spirit, Takanashi Rikka, was completely unperturbed, as if she felt no pressure whatsoever. She was clearly fully in her element.

As expected of the Wielder of True Eye of the Evil King, even though she was temporarily unable to access her powers, the mind of a strong-willed individual had yet to abandon her.

“Next student.”

The homeroom teacher gestured from his position at the podium.

How should I introduce myself here?

Hasegawa Izumi carefully considered this question as he stood up.

He didn’t particularly care what others thought; the world as he saw it was beyond the comprehension of these common folk.

Suddenly, an idea came to him.

His ordinary life was over, and a brand-new future beckoned.

Then, why not do something a little daring?

A brilliant light glimmered in his eyes.

“I’m from Shimamura Middle School, and my name is Hasegawa Izumi.”

After this ordinary self-introduction, his expression changed slightly, the corners of his lips curling upward, and he continued loudly, “I’m not interested in ordinary humans, but if there are any among you who are aliens, time travelers, otherworlders, or Espers, then please join me!”

“None shall stand before us!”

Silence descended upon the scene.

No one could have imagined that someone would say such a thing during a self-introduction.

Even Chuunibyou patients wouldn’t be so bold!

This is real social death right here.

Forget rich kids or commoners, this guy’s thoughts were beyond human comprehension!

“Applause… applause…”

Suddenly, a burst of clapping sounded from somewhere in the crowd.

The stunned students unconsciously joined in, clapping along.

“Even cooler than last time, Izumi-chan.”

Turning around, Fujiwara Chika grinned and clapped her hands.

“Thank you, everyone.”

He bowed slightly, then calmly sat down as if nothing had happened.

“Since… since the introductions are over, we’ll dismiss class for today! Please take a good look at the course schedule and other important notices when you get home.”

The class teacher hastily dismissed the class.

———-

Downstairs, a boy flanked by two girls walking together.

“Ha ha ha, that was hilarious! Who could’ve expected you would say something like that? Izumi-chan sure knows how to make an impression.”

Fujiwara Chika laughed, her hands clasped behind her back as she turned.

“I wasn’t trying to make an impression. I was being serious.”

Hasegawa Izumi’s expression was once again cool and collected, a stark contrast to his fervor from just a moment ago.

“Oh, come on, here we go with Izumi-chan’s chuunibyou!”

Fujiwara Chika wanted to tell him that the fantastical things he’d mentioned didn’t exist, but bluntly exposing the cruelty of reality wouldn’t be very kind, either. It might harm their feelings.

Plus, it would feel like telling a child that Santa Claus doesn’t exist, and she’d be wracked with guilt!

There was nothing for it; she swallowed her words and changed the subject.

“That building over there is where the activity rooms are, including the ones for the clubs and the student council.”

“This area is the practice field for the kendo, judo, and archery clubs.”

“And this is…”

Fujiwara Chika showed them around Shuchi’in Academy’s high school grounds.
