The Omnipotent Super Chuunibyou - Chapter 29
“The Mabinogion, huh?”
Hasegawa Izumi felt like he’d heard the term somewhere before.
Ah, right! It was a Grimoire called The Dark Bible.
Clearly, the two were simply similar in name and had no other connection.
“Does the Sage see something wrong?”
Takanashi Rikka noticed his strange expression.
“Oh, no, it’s nothing. I just remembered a magic book with a similar name, The Dark Bible.”
He didn’t hide the truth.
“The Dark Bible? Could it be a more advanced Grimoire?”
Takanashi Rikka made an assumption based on the name alone.
In common parlance, “Scripture” and “Codex” didn’t much differ, but in actuality, Scripture was given a higher status in religious contexts, representing profound wisdom and cultural heritage, while Codex emphasized the accumulation of knowledge and historical records.
“Could it be that the Dark Bible is the work Mori Summer truly poured her heart and soul into? Does it contain her ancient wisdom and more powerful magic? No wonder the Dark Codex is largely composed of Mori Summer’s daily observations with scant few insights into magic. If she could pen such a tome, perhaps Mori Summer is even stronger than Dekomori thought!”
As a devoted fan, Dekomori Sanae naturally made the connection.
But almost immediately, he dismissed the excess fantasy.
“No, I can say with certainty that the two have nothing to do with each other, because the Mabinogion is about…”
He paused, then continued hesitantly, “A more primal, darker magic. It’s fundamentally different from Mori Summer’s. As for specifics, you don’t need to know any further; I’m not terribly clear on it myself.”
With this, he shut off the girls’ questions.
After all, such knowledge would only pollute the soul.
“So that’s how it is. Is it a taboo subject?”
Takanashi Rikka and Dekomori Sanae exchanged a glance, their expressions growing solemn as they understood something.
The topic of conversation returned to the matter at hand.
“Sage-Sama, are you sure that guy Nibutani is really Mori Summer? It’s not that I don’t believe you, but Mori Summer is incredibly important to me, Death.”
Dekomori Sanae’s expression was sincere. “Then, you must go and confirm it with your own eyes.”
Hasegawa Izumi’s tone was cheerful. He could sense that the opportunity he’d been waiting for had arrived.
Compared to his own role in leading the way, Dekomori seemed to know Mori Summer better and have stronger bonds with her.
“Then, I leave this task to you, my servant,” Takanashi Rikka said, patting Dekomori on the shoulder.
“Leave it to me! Mori Summer is an awesome being, and I won’t allow anyone to defile her, Death. if she is real then it’s even better DEATH, if it’s fake, Jie Jie Jie Jie …….” Dekomori Sanae said, her expression darkening as she let out a sinister laugh.
“Achoo!”
Nibutani Shinka sneezed while practicing cheerleading in her uniform at Shuchi’in.
“I have a bad feeling, what’s going on?”
As she took a break and returned to her teammates, she overheard them talking about something.
“Did you hear? The soccer club refused Hasegawa’s challenge because they don’t have enough members.”
“But what does that have to do with us? I don’t care about some weirdo like him.”
“Of course it has something to do with us! Hasegawa decided to challenge the basketball team next!”
“Really? Will we have to play, too?” one girl worried.
Cheerleaders’ main role was to cheer on the teams, and basketball was one of the most popular sports clubs, so naturally, they’d be involved.
“I’m sure we will. It’s already made a big stir, and everyone in the school is paying attention. We’ll definitely need to show our faces,” the cheer captain responded matter-of-factly.
Otherwise, how could their Cheer squad gain more visibility?!
Upon hearing this, Nibutani Shinka’s face filled with dread.
The war flames are spreading this fast?
Where do I run to escape this curse?!
What the girl didn’t understand was, wherever people gathered, conflict was sure to follow. She couldn’t avoid it no matter what she tried.
By Wednesday at lunchtime, Hasegawa Izumi had summoned Fujiwara Chika.
“What is it, Izumi-chan?”
Chika looked a little surprised; normally, she was the one who took the initiative to approach him.
She didn’t complain, though. Normally, being a bit lazy but earnest, and not showing up unless there was something to discuss, was Izumi’s modus operandi.
“I actually have something important to discuss with you. I’m sure you’ve heard already, but this Friday, our Far Eastern Magic Society is challenging the basketball team to a game. However, before that, we need to recruit five members, and we’re still short two, so… I’d like to invite you, Chika. Is that all right?”
He hesitated a bit, but he asked her outright.
“Of course! If it’s a request from Izumi-chan, anything goes,” Fujiwara Chika responded with a smile, without the slightest hesitation.
What a naïve girl.
“You’re sure you won’t be overwhelmed? Just imagine: You’ll be playing against guys like Kawamura.”
He deliberately tried to scare her off, not wanting her gentle compliance.
“Come to think of it, it is a little… scary!”
The image of the boy towering over her floated into Fujiwara Chika’s mind, and she felt the weight of that pressure, like a mountain, bearing down on her, making her tremble.
“Still, don’t worry, Izumi-chan will protect me, right?” The girl’s smile didn’t fade, and she pointed at herself. “I promise.”
“I’ll do my best,” he vowed.
“Ah-heh-heh, don’t worry, I won’t make too much trouble for Izumi-chan. I may look like a sophisticated girl, but every day before bed, I work out for thirty minutes, so I’m actually a low-carb, low-sugar girl. My muscles are no weaker than most boys’… Besides, I’m pretty good at volleyball, so basketball won’t be too different.”
Fujiwara Chika placed her hand over her chest and continued confidently, “I might even be able to protect Takanashi-san at the same time.”
She turned to look at Takanashi.
“I don’t need the help of mere mortal,” Rikka replied coldly, feeling insulted.

Chika’s invitation had gone over unexpectedly well. All that remained was his old friend.
Hasegawa Izumi gazed through the window, his eyes pausing near the gym.
“Mori Summer, the day of your true return draws near…”
