TN: the title remind me the meme from anime “Daily Life of Highschool Boy”

It was the weekend, and Izumi’s parents called to check in on their son, wanting to know how he’d been doing since they last spoke.

“Izumi, how’s life been treating you? Are you keeping yourself busy? Taking care of Kobato must be hard, right? And what’s this I hear about you making a fuss at Shuchi’in?”

“I’d say I’m all right. Taking care of Kobato is no big deal; she’s actually grown quite a bit more independent lately, to the point she can go to school by herself… As for what’s going on at school, it’s nothing I can’t handle.”

“All right, if you say so, I’ll believe you for now. If you ever need to talk, you can always call Aunt Sayuri. She and I are practically best friends, you know! Of course, you’re welcome to call Eriri, too.”

“I know. Don’t worry, Mom. You and Dad enjoy your time together.”

“haha… All right, give the phone to Kobato. I want to talk to her.”

Hasegawa Izumi handed the landline phone to his little sister.

“Kobato? It’s been a while since we’ve talked. Do you miss me?”

“Uh, yes, been a while… Mom.”

Kobato’s expression visibly relaxed into her usual adorable self upon hearing her mother’s voice; her voice even shook a bit, lacking her usual obnoxious brashness.

Izumi had no interest in eavesdropping, so after glancing at them briefly, he returned to his room.

A few moments passed.

When he emerged, Kobato was sitting on the sofa, watching TV, as if nothing had happened.

“Kobato, doesn’t mother have any advice for you? Like, ‘Don’t watch so much TV, read some books instead,’ or ‘Don’t stay up late at night,’ things like that?”

He spoke with conviction.

Kobato’s body shivered, and she turned her face reluctantly, maintaining the same posture. “Kukukuk, I am the Blood Primogenitor, long freed from the constraints of bloodline, unaffected by the Creator’s orders!”

“Okay, then I’ll call and let Mom know right away,” he threatened, narrowing his eyes.

“Ah, no, An-chan! I-I understand!”

Kobato pursed her thin lips, giving in.

“Your midterms are next month. You don’t want to disappoint Mom, do you? So, do your best! I’ll give you extra pocket money, and we can go get some tonkotsu ramen together.”

He patted his little sister’s head, softly encouraging her.

“Really? An-chan?”

Kobato’s expression brightened, turning from sad to delighted.

“Really.”

A new week began.

It was the last week before the Golden Week holiday.

Before a long weekend, the schoolyard was always abuzz with excitement.

Hasegawa Izumi rode the bicycle he’d repaired over the weekend to Shuchi’in High School, then locked it securely in place at a parking meter.

Why did he park outside? Because riding his bike straight into the schoolyard would have been too flashy.

With his current level of notoriety, he could easily have been the target of a prank. In a school with such high deviation values, even if everyone had good grades, the rich kids’ attitude was still pervasive; he had to be careful.

Arriving at the school gate, he strode into the schoolyard, feigning nonchalance, though he could feel many more eyes on him than there had been last week.

This was hardly surprising. After defeating the Go Club, he’d proven he wasn’t just blowing smoke, and all those who’d ignored him before were now taking a second look.

So, he’d become completely famous within Shuchi’in.

He had gone from being a mere circus clown to someone known by name.

But this was just the first step. He would prove the Far Eastern Magic Society’s value, and he would lead more lost lambs back to the golden path.

………

“Nohara-san, your skin is so nice! What kind of skincare products do you use? Or do you take milk baths?”

“It’s nothing really, I just take long baths every day. I guess it’s mostly just my natural skin.”

“Wow, I’m so jealous.”

“Oh, by the way, have you guys heard about what happened last Friday?”

“Ah, you mean that…”

Suddenly, the chattering classroom fell silent.

This was because a certain individual had walked through the door, full of life and imposing, as if he existed above the rest of the world.

To them, Hasegawa Izumi’s name was already synonymous with thunder.

Although all of them were scions of powerful families, either wealthy or influential, Shuchi’in was a place where such things mattered little. Yet despite seeming ordinary, this person had already made a name for himself at school.

This made them resentful, but at the same time, they envied him.

Making a name for oneself at Shuchi’in would open countless doors in the future.

Of course, they couldn’t just bow to him and ask how he’d done it.

As for the students from the Impure, they kept their distance, afraid of being caught in the crossfire.

“Izumi-chan, you’re really making a name for yourself now!”

After class, Fujiwara Chika skipped over to his desk and held up her cell phone.

Hasegawa Izumi saw that the screen displayed a thread from Shuchi’in’s campus forum. The title read:

“First Victory! Who Will Stop This Man? Will Shuchi’in Really Be Under His Feet?”

Attached to the post were several photos: several handsome shots of his profile and one of him shaking hands with Waya Yoshitaka.

However, from this angle, the photographer could only have been…

“You made this post, right, Chika?” he asked the girl.

“Ah ha ha… That’s not important!” Fujiwara Chika tried to blow it off with a dumb grin, whistling.

“Good job, Chika. Well done,” he said, patting her on the shoulder with an approving look.

“Eh?” Fujiwara Chika froze, her cheeks blushing pink.

Isn’t Izumi-chan way too kind?! It’s almost exactly how an older brother would treat his little sister!

I thought for sure I’d get scolded.

Her understanding was a bit off. Compared to the fact that she’d acted on her own, Hasegawa Izumi was more concerned about something else entirely.

“Isn’t it a little…intimate? Is Fujiwara-san and Hasegawa’s relationship actually like that?”

“No, no, no, Hasegawa and Takanashi are clearly much closer.”

The other students who noticed this scene saw something different entirely, but neither party paid any attention to them.

This morning, there was a physical education class, so they headed to the schoolyard.

After the run ended, Hasegawa Izumi sat down on a bench nearby.

“Phew…hah…”

Takanashi Rikka, still panting, soon sat down beside him to rest.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew through their bangs.

“Today the wind is noisy,” he couldn’t help but sigh.

“I heard the sound of battle in the wind. It must be a sign that there will be fierce fighting today,” Takanashi Rikka responded without missing a beat.

At this, he laughed. “There will indeed be battle, but I’m not sure ‘fierce’ applies.”
