“Ha ha ha! You finally get it, don’t you?! Trying to stop us is futile! Praise the Far Eastern Magic Society!”

Takanashi Rikka stood up on the tatami, her bearing magnificent as she addressed everyone.

“Ugh, what’s this got to do with you?”

“You’re just a bystander, so quit acting so superior.”

“Where’d this little brat even come from?”

Her words stirred up a commotion in the crowd, eliciting angry stares all around.

“Takanashi-san, quit acting so smug! You’re gonna get trouble!”

Fujiwara Chika stood up and covered Rikka’s mouth, then whispered into her ear.

“Only mortals. Before the True Eye of the Evil King, they don’t even qualify to stand before me.”

“Huh, what’s this True Eye of the Evil King?”

“The True Eye of the Evil King is…”

Ignoring the chatter between the two girls in the corner…

“I accept defeat. To defeat me after placing your first stone at Tengen… This demonstrates the vast disparity in our skill.”

Waya Yoshitaka held out his hand to Hasegawa Izumi.

Izumi didn’t show any arrogance, shaking his hand politely.

“At your age, to possess such skill, your talent runs unfathomably deep. If possible, I’d like you to join my Go school for further study. I believe you are the one who can lead the future of Go in Japan! With that, fame and fortune will be yours for the taking!”

Waya Yoshitaka, defeated, still recognized Izumi’s talent and wanted to recruit him. He tried to appeal to his emotions and entice him with benefits, but that wasn’t what Izumi wanted, so he declined.

“My apologies, but I’m not interested.”

After saying this, Izumi walked toward the exit of the Go Club room.

“Rikka, Chika, let’s go.”

Inside the room, the other members watched in silence.

“Wow, the president actually lost to that guy? And by such a wide margin!”

“What was all that about ‘Heaven and Earth Harmony’? I thought he was a noob, but he’s actually super strong!”

“Say, President, was there a golden glow emanating from the board while you were playing?”

“You saw it too? I thought I was just seeing things.”

“Is it really true? No way! Was it the legendary aura that causing mass hallucination?”

The Go Club members, who had been holding themselves back, now burst into chatter.

Hasegawa and the others headed to the Mass Media Club.

“President.”

Kino Karen and Kose Erika put down their work and greeted them. Then, from Asahi Shizuku’s mouth, they received the result of the match, surprising them both.

A person with no recorded history of Go victories had defeated a professional-level player—what an unbelievable outcome!

Could it be that he’d secretly taught himself online?

That’s still pretty impressive!

Instantly, the girls elevated their opinion of Hasegawa Izumi from “lunatic” to “crazy with some skill.”

After the results came in, they moved on to round two of interviews.

The contents weren’t terribly new. After all, he’d already released some trash talk, so they just documented his thoughts and feelings during the match, then moved on to his next goal.

“Then it’s the tennis club,” he said after a moment’s consideration. He opted for a more substantial opponent.

Unlike the Go Club, which was a niche interest, sports clubs like tennis had more fame and prestige. Triumphing over them would cause a bigger stir, drawing more attention to this affair.

Once they defeated all the heavyweight opponents, the Far Eastern Magic Society would have conquered every top spot!

“And now, let’s call them our next victim,” he added, throwing in some more trash talk, which drew delighted giggles from the girls.

“Ahem…”

“Right, here’s information on the tennis club president… This should help you increase your odds of victory. The tennis club’s challenge should be harder than the Go Club’s.”

Asahi Shizuku slid the list of information she’d collected across the table toward him, then pointed at it.

“There’s no need. If he can actually shoot ‘light balls,’ create ‘black holes,’ or achieve ‘Pinnacle of Perfection’ or whatever, then I’ll have to take him seriously.”

Having no intention of understanding, he breezed away.

“You guys… Do you understand what he’s saying?” Asahi Shizuku asked, turning her head in confusion.

“Not a bit,” Kose Erika shook her head.

“It’s Chuunibyou logic. It’s normal for us to not follow it,” Kino Karen said. “If we did, we’d be done for!”

“Uh-huh… Uh-huh…”

Her words struck a chord with everyone.

“Click.”

The door closed behind them.

The three walked through the corridor.

“Not bad, not bad. You’ve got a good start. Maybe Izumi-chan really will achieve that grand goal of his.”

After witnessing his astonishing performance, Fujiwara Chika’s expectations for him had soared to a new level.

“Thankfully, Izumi-chan isn’t planning to challenge the Tabletop Gaming Club, huh? Otherwise, we’d be embarrassed ourself before the entire school!”

The girl looked relieved.

“Don’t worry, your club didn’t worth of my attention,” Hasegawa Izumi tried to reassure her.

“Izumi-chan is such a bully! You’re looking down on us! No, starting next week, Izumi-chan, you’re have to play with entire Tabletop Gaming Club member during lunch breaks!”

Fujiwara Chika’s tone turned heated again, her cheeks puffed out. She wanted to challenge him multiple times to improve her winning odds.

This woman really had a strong competitive streak when it came to games!

“If I’m free, I suppose I could,” he said, not really caring either way. In fact, he was even a little excited—but only about the prospect of seeing Chika’s latest cheating methods.

Before long, news of the Go Club’s defeat spread through every chat group and between friends.

Shuchi’in’s number one chuunibyou’s performance was practically beyond everyone’s expectations, and thanks to the Mass Media Club’s publicity, everyone knew that the next target of his challenge would be the tennis club. Because of the holiday, the match was set for the following Monday.

The sun set in the west, and the court was bathed in twilight.

The tennis club members had finished their drills and were picking up the balls, preparing to clean up and head home.

The club president, Kawamura Kentaro, was a tall, fit man of about five feet ten inches. In middle school, he’d competed as a singles player and made it to the national championships, so his skills commanded respect.

“Pre-President, something big is happening!”

Suddenly, a first-year student who’d been glancing at his phone stood up and yelled at Kawamura.

“What is it?” Kawamura walked over, perplexed.

Then he learned from the student that he’d been chosen as the next challenger.

“Ah ha ha, they beat the Go Club, so what? What’s there to be scared of?! How can someone who uses their brain possibly compete with these well-trained muscles of mine?”

He wasn’t concerned in the slightest. With a flourish, he lifted his right arm, revealing powerful, defined muscles.

“If you want to become a true powerhouse, you need to have confidence in yourself and not panic!”

“Yes! Thank you for your guidance, Club President!”
