Tang Anhe had been secretly hoping for an “older brother,” so after confirming the gender on Cheng Muye’s ID card, she sang despondently:

“The horse-catching man, you are mighty and heroic. The galloping steed rushes like the wind, across the boundless plains you roam freely.”

This song was practically her soul anthem.

It just happened that her singing was absolutely dreadful, testing everyone’s patience with every note.

Song Qiluo couldn’t bear to watch her actress make a fool of herself in front of the new bodyguard. She coughed twice, warning sharply, “Tang Anhe, I’m telling you, Ms. Cheng is a top-tier bodyguard, one of the top three. If you drive her away with your antics…”

Tang Anhe’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she cut her off. “Sister, can I switch to an brother instead?”

“Don’t daydream in broad daylight!” Song Qiluo scolded Tang Anhe playfully, then turned to Cheng Muye and extended her hand with a smile. “Hello, Ms. Cheng. I’m Song Qiluo, Tang Anhe’s agent.”

“I’ve heard of your reputation for a long time,” Cheng Muye replied, extending her hand to shake. Her presence carried the authority of a high-ranking figure, calm and dignified. “I would prefer you call me ‘Mr. Cheng.’”

Song Qiluo recalled Cheng Muye’s earlier words. “Though born a daughter, I have a man’s heart” And smiled, adjusting her tone. “Hello, Mr. Cheng. My apologies.”

They were enjoying a pleasant conversation, but Tang Anhe, standing nearby, grew jealous. She deliberately shouted at the top of her lungs, “The horseman who tames horses is in my heart! I want to melt into your broad chest…”

She sang while theatrically covering her huge, white chest, making exaggeratedly alluring movements.

Cheng Muye caught a glimpse of it from the corner of her eye. Her thin lips twitched, and she swallowed hard. Feeling slightly dry in the mouth and restless at heart, she subtly reached to scratch her ear, expressing her displeasure without saying a word.

Song Qiluo was perceptive and quick-witted, able to see through Cheng’s displeasure in an instant. She stopped Anhe firmly and scolded, “Tang Anhe, a leading actress must carry herself with the grace and dignity befitting her status. If I catch you behaving like this again, just wait and see what the Empress Dowager will do to you.”

Who was the Empress Dowager?

Tang Anhe’s aunt, Lady An Shanghua, who had also been her former agent. Lady Shanghua was a true powerhouse, having single-handedly carved out her position in the entertainment industry. Unfortunately, her health had been declining in recent years, and she had been hospitalized, passing the role of agent to her daughter.

Although she could no longer manage Tang Anhe directly, any misstep now would surely force her back into action. At the mere mention of her name, Tang Anhe’s spirit sank instantly. She slumped onto the sofa, head hanging low like withered branches.

They met Cheng Muye in the office of her personal studio.

Song Qiluo had brought someone she trusted to the Weiwu Security Company, and that person had recommended Cheng Muye. She was known as a martial arts prodigy, skilled in combat, taekwondo, sanda, and even some tactical strategies. In short, she was exceptional and nearly unstoppable. For a woman to achieve this was already remarkable. Naturally, Song Qiluo valued her highly and treated her with utmost respect, hoping only that she would protect her star actress well.

“During the time Mr. Cheng protects Anhe, the studio will cover all expenses for food, clothing, and daily necessities. As for the protection fee, as long as it is reasonable, everything is negotiable,” Song Qiluo explained.

It was a bold offer.

Cheng Muye could see her sincerity. She nodded and gave her promise, “Miss Song, rest assured. I will ensure her safety.”

Her voice was steady and resonant, carrying a reassuring weight.

Song Qiluo nodded with a smile, picked up a stack of documents from the coffee table, and handed them over. Her tone softened as she said, “This is Tang Anhe’s schedule. I hope Mr. Cheng can provide twenty-four-hour personal protection.”

Personal protection?

How exactly will this personal protection work?

Cheng Muye’s gaze shifted toward Tang Anhe, who was perched on the sofa with an apple in hand, eyes fixed on the screen. She was far from the dignified, elegant image she showed on camera. Instead, she sat slouched like an unruly schoolgirl, her pale thighs trembling as she swung her legs. The motion made the slit of her cheongsam ride up all the way to the root of her thighs, even revealing a glimpse of pink underwear beneath.

The cheongsam was daring enough on its own, yet she wasn’t even wearing safety shorts. Truly, this actress needed close protection.

Just as that thought crossed Cheng Muye’s mind, Song Qiluo spoke up. Mistaking her glance at Tang Anhe as a request for the actress’s opinion, she said quickly, “You don’t need to worry about what she thinks. She’s just a child who hasn’t grown up, and all her brains are used up on acting.”

That really did sound like something only a biological sister would say.

Tang Anhe pouted in protest. “Sister, can’t you give me a little face in front of outsiders?”

“You still want to save face? What happened to that heroic spirit you had while singing just now?”

“Sister, what do you mean by that? What’s wrong with me singing?”

“How many times have I told you, other people sing for fun, but you sing just to get scolded. How can you not remember that? If you can’t sing, then don’t. Be a little more modest, and people will like you more. Understand?”

She doesn’t understand!

With someone as sharp-tongued as Song Qiluo, Tang Anhe was no match at all. Before long, she simply sank back into her apple with a pitiful expression.

Satisfied that she had quieted down, Song Qiluo turned to Cheng Muye. “You mustn’t indulge her all the time either. She’s a child at heart and never stays angry for more than three minutes. If she doesn’t listen, just scold her. Give her some wind and rain, or else a flower raised in a greenhouse will never grow strong.”

Though their acquaintance was brief, Song Qiluo spoke to her with unusual openness.

Cheng Muye listened closely yet kept her thoughts to herself. If Song Qiluo truly wanted Tang Anhe to experience wind and rain, she wouldn’t guard her so tightly, refusing to let even male bodyguards get near.

Still, this was fine. The most amusing thing, after all, was the naive little bunny with big chests.

After chatting a while longer, Song Qiluo finally took her leave, deliberately leaving the two behind to build rapport and get accustomed to each other.

Tang Anhe and Cheng Muye had sat in silence for five minutes, but the moment her sister left, Tang Anhe began to stir up mischief. Like a curious little rabbit, she bounded over, her wide eyes shining with curiosity. “Hey, how tall are you? Are you really a woman?”

Cheng Muye had been examining the room when the question reached her ears. She turned, glanced down at her own slender, boneless fingers, and lifted a brow. “If you don’t believe me, I can take off my pants and let you check.”

Those blunt, cutting words brought a flush to Tang An’s pretty face. She usually prided herself on her thick skin, yet in front of a handsome man she still blushed all too easily. And even though this one was only a fake, her heart still pounded like a drum.

“Uh… um…” Her gaze drifted to those enticing lips. She swallowed hard and stammered, “Has anyone ever told you your lips are really beautiful?”

“Yes.”

“Hmm? Who?”

“You.”

Tang Anhe was left speechless, her pretty face flushing even deeper as she cursed inwardly. What the hell was happening? Why was she exposing her weak spots like this? She had to remember. This was a woman, a lesbian, not some little brother, and certainly not a strong man!

Cheng Muye waited, but when no answer came, her brows drew together. “What are you thinking? Still doubting my gender?”

Tang Anhe was still running her internal rant, so she didn’t quite catch what was said and nodded absentmindedly.

Cheng Muye noticed and furrowed her bold brows, her voice dropping low. “You’d better give up. I’m a real woman.” With that, she stepped forward, grasped her hand, and pressed it against the spot between her legs through the fabric of her pants.

“Ah! Mmph…”

Tang Anhe’s scalp tingled from the shock, and a cry escaped her lips, only to be stifled as her mouth was swiftly covered again.

She was utterly stunned, her delicate face flushing as though it might bleed, while the palm of her hand burned like fire, the heat searing straight into her heart. Oh heavens… she had actually touched a woman…

Cheng Muye, however, showed none of her fluster. Her lips curved faintly as she asked, “Scared? That’s all you’ve got?”

“You, you…” Tang Anhe stammered, unable to form a proper retort. When she thought about it, they were both women. Accidentally touching each other shouldn’t have been such a big deal, right? Maybe she really was overreacting.

Cheng Muye caught the flicker of her thoughts with ease. Her gaze sharpened as she deliberately assumed a cold air, her voice edged with mockery. “Such a child, so little courage, yet still daring to dream about romance?”

That was clearly reverse psychology.

Tang Anhe fell straight into the trap, puffing up with indignation as she protested, “I’m not cowardly! I was just surprised for a moment, that’s all. I overreacted.”

Cheng Muye’s lips curved higher, a quiet snort slipping out. “Hmm.”

Feeling as though she had been taken advantage of, Tang Anhe’s eyes drifted involuntarily to those thin lips again. A restless heat stirred inside her. She only wanted to fall in love, truly she did. If this bodyguard had been a young man, she wouldn’t have cared about propriety at all. She would have thrown herself forward without hesitation…

Children were children; their thoughts were always written openly across their faces.

Cheng Muye’s lips curved further, the slight upward tilt paired with their red, glossy sheen making her already striking features even more captivating.

Tang Anhe, however, found herself irritated by that very allure. Because of it, when she sat down at the press conference, her mood remained sour.

The interview was still centered on her remarkable performance in Crazy Motherhood, yet the questions from the reporters were the same ones she had already answered countless times.

How do you understand the theme of motherhood?

Are you satisfied with your acting?

What are your future plans?

She answered each question in turn, delivering the standard responses flawlessly, not missing a single line.

The reporters, realizing they couldn’t dig out any real news that way, quickly shifted their focus.

“Miss Tang, it’s said you also had a cameo in the film Friends on the Weekend, which was released around the same time. Do you have anything you’d like to say to your fans?”

Tang Anhe leaned into the microphone without hesitation. “It’s a terrible film, the perfect mix of clichés and melodrama. In short, everyone, please don’t watch it…”

Before she could finish, Song Qiluo cut in with a quick smile, stepping up to smooth things over. “This is Anhe’s idea of reverse promotion. A rather innovative approach, don’t you think?”

Not at all.

A male reporter, sensing a headline, immediately pressed forward, pointing straight at Tang Anhe. “Miss Tang, the female lead in Friends of the Weekend is the superstar Gu Zixiao. I’ve heard the two of you aren’t on good terms in private. Is that why you’re so dismissive of the film? Is it out of personal grudge?”

What personal grudge?

Was she supposed to stoop to the level of someone like Gu Zixiao, whose only claim to fame was acting in low-quality films?

Tang Anhe scoffed inwardly and shot back quickly, “Just because I criticize someone doesn’t mean I’ll dismiss an entire film.”

“So, are you rejecting Gu Zixiao? What personal grudge is there?”

Without realizing it, Tang Anhe had already been dragged into the reporter’s muddy trap.

She was just about to respond when Song Qiluo cut in with a firm tone. “That’s all for today’s interview. We have to rush to the next press event, so please bear with us.”

As she spoke, she subtly signaled to Cheng Muye to escort Tang Anhe out.

But at this moment, the reporters were far from rational. They swarmed around, talking over each other and shouting questions:

“Since you and Gu Zixiao are equally famous, if you dislike her, is it because you feel threatened by a junior?”

“Gu Zixiao won multiple awards for Friends of the Weekend, including Best Actor, Best Original Song, and Outstanding Actress, and seems to be edging past you, Miss Tang. What’s your take on this?”

“I’ve heard that Director Cheng Mo is casting the lead for the Republican-era war drama Beauty in Turmoil, and both you and Gu Zixiao are on the shortlist. Do you feel confident about landing the lead role?”

Tang Anhe flushed from head to toe at the question. She couldn’t stand being compared to Gu Zixiao and snapped furiously, “What pressure could Gu Zixiao’s acting possibly put on me? And those so-called awards. What are they worth? I’ve never even heard of them. The number of dramas I’ve starred in is more than the lines she’s ever memorized… hmph… hmph…”

Before she could finish, Cheng Muye had already forced her way through the crowd. She grabbed two reporters by the shoulders, pushed them aside with ease, then covered Tang Anhe’s mouth and half-supported her as she quickly led her out of the encirclement.
