Chapter 36: Blood Wind Bandits! The Man-Eating Demon!
“Mang Mountain… then I shall go take a look!”
After receiving the bounty from Gongsun Xiu, Su Hao did not delay. He immediately bid farewell to Gongsun Xiu, knowing that any delay could lead to changes, and prepared to head straight to Mang Mountain.
Watching Su Hao’s departing figure as he walked out the door, Gongsun Xiu silently thought, “I hope he can successfully capture Wu Huacheng. This Wu Huacheng is no simple character!” The fact that Wu Huacheng was able to escape from a Transforming Tendon Martial Artist’s chase speaks volumes about his extraordinary strength.
Moreover, Wu Huacheng was not alone; his elite subordinates were also quite formidable. If Su Hao ventured out alone to hunt down Wu Huacheng and failed, the odds were high that he wouldn’t even survive!
Of course, Gongsun Xiu had already explained the risks to Su Hao, and since Su Hao still chose to accept the bounty, he could hardly blame anyone if he met with misfortune.
“Speaking of which, did he just use Transformation Strength? To strike a delicate cup with the destructive power of a boulder! Truly remarkable!” Gongsun Xiu marveled silently as he gazed at the scattered fragments of the teacup on the ground.
Refining Strength, Forging Bones, Transforming Tendon, Cleansing Marrow.
Among these, the first stage, the Body Refinement of Refining Strength, lays the foundation for all levels of mastery. A solid foundation is essential for future progress, allowing one to advance rapidly with great force. This level emphasizes comprehension; only with high innate talent can one repeatedly refine their Strength Force, elevating it to higher and more profound realms.
In Gongsun Xiu’s view, the teacup that Su Hao had just thrown, imbued with impressive Strength Force, likely indicated that Su Hao had achieved Transformation Strength.
Yet no matter how Gongsun Xiu speculated, he could hardly imagine that what Su Hao had cultivated was actually Core Strength, which could only be achieved through fourth-stage Refining Strength!
This Strength Force was even more robust, easily controlled, and with a simple wave, it could surge forth like a wild galloping horse, unstoppable!
Naturally, Su Hao was unaware of Gongsun Xiu’s thoughts. At this moment, he had already exited the city and was quickly heading toward Mang Mountain.
Mang Mountain is a peak located in Evergreen County, with the only nearby settlement being Mang Mountain Town. However, due to its remote location, it is also quite impoverished.
With Su Hao’s nimbleness and lightness of foot, he covered a distance of seventy to eighty miles before darkness fell, arriving at the foot of Mang Mountain.
From afar, Mang Mountain was densely forested, and the paths were overgrown with weeds; only hunters and woodcutters would usually choose to enter the mountain.
“Let’s go in. I hope to find Wu Huacheng’s whereabouts quickly.”
Su Hao did not hesitate and followed the mountain path into the woods. Though he was unsure of the exact location where Wu Huacheng and his men were hiding, he believed there would be some clues left behind. It was only a matter of time before he discovered Wu Huacheng’s trail.
As night gradually descended, the only sounds within Mang Mountain were the buzzing of mosquitoes and the calls of birds, creating an eerie silence.
“There’s movement over there… and it’s not just one person!”
As Su Hao strolled through the mountain, he gradually delved deeper when suddenly, his ears perked up. Having undergone four refinements of his body’s strength, his senses were sharp; not a whisper of wind or rustle of grass could escape him.
He also caught faint sounds carried by the wind from afar, prompting his gaze to sharpen as he stealthily approached the source.
At that moment, amidst the trees, about a dozen people were moving through the forest, clearly familiar with the terrain.
Furthermore, most of these individuals were robust, armed with weapons at their waists, all of them practitioners of martial arts!
Their expressions were serious, laden with a hint of tension.
“Are these damned thieves really targeting our Liu Family?”
“Better to fight them head-on than let them walk all over us!”
Two young men spoke through gritted teeth, visibly filled with hatred for the band of thieves.
They were from the Liu Family in Mang Mountain Town, and not long ago, a group of thieves had kidnapped the ladies and young masters of their family while they were out enjoying the spring, using their captives to coerce the Liu Family into submission. This ordeal had lasted for quite a while.
“Almost there. Everyone, quiet down.”
A steady-looking middle-aged man in a blue robe reprimanded the two young men, silencing them.
Emerging from a stretch of trees, they arrived at a makeshift courtyard nestled in the woods, overgrown with weeds and shaded from sunlight.
“Is everything we need here?”
As the middle-aged man in blue and his companions lingered outside the makeshift courtyard in the woods, a cold voice suddenly rang out.
A tall figure emerged from the shadows, a man in white, slender and tall, resembling a grim reaper in the dark of night.
“You’ve brought everything. These are the supplies you wanted, including the rice wine we sourced from the county’s winery,” he said.
The middle-aged man in blue waved his hand, and several martial artists from the Liu Family immediately carried over large bundles filled with food and drinks.
“Not bad,” the white-clad man nodded slightly, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
As a martial artist, especially one with considerable strength, his appetite was immense; some powerful practitioners could consume an entire cow in a single day. The Blood Wind Bandits were hiding out here and required substantial sustenance to survive, which led them to kidnap the Liu Family from the small town at the foot of Mang Mountain, coercing them to supply provisions.
The white-clad man licked his lips, reached out to grab a jar of wine, and opened the lid, immediately releasing a fragrant aroma.
Yet, as he inhaled the scent of the wine, his expression suddenly changed, darkening ominously. His voice grew ice-cold and piercing: “Good… you’re bold! You dare to poison the wine?”
This statement caused the middle-aged man in blue to flinch, visibly startled. “Poison? You must be mistaken!”
He had personally overseen the food and drink as the leader of the Liu Family’s guard, so there couldn’t possibly be a problem!
However, before the middle-aged man could argue further, the white-clad man flickered, almost all onlookers found it difficult to catch his movement, only to see him briefly blur and then reappear as if he had never moved at all.
But in the white-clad man’s hand was now a bloody, still-beating heart.
One young man from the Liu Family looked down in confusion, only to find that a hole had opened in his chest, his heart mysteriously missing!
“You…”
The youth opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but his body collapsed to the ground, drained of all strength.
“Liu Yi!”
The remaining members of the Liu Family let out cries of despair, completely caught off guard by the sudden attack of the man in white, who had directly killed one of their promising young martial artists!
The middle-aged man in blue shouted in a mix of anger and desperation, “Master Bai, I swear on my life that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this food and drink!”
The Liu Family simply wanted to endure and obediently comply, hoping to persuade these ruthless bandits to leave quickly, but the other party killed their people at the slightest provocation, without even giving them a chance to argue!
“Enough, Old Fifth, killing one is sufficient. We still need them to do our bidding.”
At this moment, a cold voice rang out from the small courtyard within the woods.
Hearing this, the man in white displayed a hint of regret and then looked coldly at the middle-aged man in blue and the others, stating, “I’ll let you go this time, but if you dare to have any ulterior motives, I alone can wipe out your Liu Family without leaving a trace!”
“Y-yes… yes.”
The middle-aged man in blue was drenched in cold sweat, unable to do anything but repeatedly agree.
The other Liu Family martial artists trembled in fear, biting their teeth tight. Although they felt deep resentment over the killing of one of their own, given the power displayed by the man in white, even if they charged at him, they might not be able to kill him.
Not to mention that their young master and young lady were still in his hands, and the man in white was not alone; there were four other vicious bandits in the courtyard, each likely no weaker than him!
