Chapter 2: Remarkable Bone Structure! Battling in the Mountain Forests!

Beyond the changes in his intuition, Su Hao’s physical body underwent transformations as well. The biggest change was in his appetite, which had increased significantly, indicating his body’s rapid growth and need for nourishment. Additionally, his body’s recovery power improved. Previously, Su Hao would be utterly exhausted after a day’s work in the forge, but now, even after intense fatigue and exertion, he could fully recover with a night’s sleep and wake up full of energy!

Of course, these changes were not solely due to his evolved potential; mastering Baduanjin, an art that promotes health, sharpened Su Hao’s senses and boosted his vitality. While it might not turn him into a martial arts master, it certainly helped him unlock his potential!

“Deliver these farming tools to the Liu Family in Xiaoxi Town…”

That afternoon, Su Hao walked briskly along a steep path, carrying a large basket loaded with sickles, hoes, and other tools on his back. The basket weighed several dozens of pounds, yet Su Hao walked with ease, showing no sign of strain.

Compared to his previously frail self, Su Hao now fully lived up to having a remarkable bone structure, with a strong and robust physique. A few days ago, he tested himself by lifting a weight of a hundred pounds single-handedly, easily raising it over his head and placing it down gently! He could sprint a hundred meters in under ten seconds—this level of physical prowess was almost on par with top athletes from his past life!

Whether in perception or reaction, he far exceeded ordinary people, thanks to the changes brought by Baduanjin reaching great accomplishment.

“Hello, here are the tools ordered by the Liu Residence from Zhao’s Blacksmith Shop.”

Outside a large mansion in Xiaoxi Village, Su Hao politely addressed a middle-aged man in scholarly robes.

The middle-aged man briefly inspected the tools and nodded with satisfaction, “Yes, I’m confident about Zhao’s Blacksmith Shop’s craftsmanship. Here, take this receipt.”

The Liu Family, being the landlords of Xiaoxi Village, had previously ordered a batch of farming tools and had already paid for them. Delivering the goods and retrieving the receipt from Zhao’s Blacksmith Shop completed the transaction.

After safely storing the receipt, Su Hao turned to leave as dusk was setting in, planning to head straight home.

In the dim wilderness, Su Hao walked through a patch of overgrown woodland, a path he had taken countless times before. However, as he moved swiftly through a thicket, he abruptly halted. His nose caught a whiff of a salty, metallic scent—the smell of rusted iron and…The scent of blood! An extremely strong scent of blood!

Instinctively, Su Hao looked in the direction from where the metallic scent was emanating. His pupils shrank slightly as he saw a corpse lying among the trees not far away. The body was dressed in gray monk’s robes, indicating it belonged to a monk. His head had been severed from his body, rolled to the side, with blood from the neck wound mixed into the earth, his eyes wide open as if he died with unresolved grievances.

Beside the corpse, two men stood clad in simple clothing, each holding a weapon. The tall skinny one still had blood on his long knife. Clearly, these two were the monk’s killers.

“Dare to provoke our Black Snake Gang? Thought a little martial arts skill was enough to meddle?”

The tall skinny man sneered cruelly at the decapitated body on the ground. The gray-robed monk had meddled and caught their attention as members of the Black Snake Gang. Although he was adept at martial arts, he wasn’t their match in direct combat. So, they set up a trap in the woods, using methods like lime powder, to successfully kill the monk here!

“Leave… we must leave now…”

This bloody, brutal scene left Su Hao deeply shocked. Faced with such a murder, his first instinct was to avoid it!

Lowering his footsteps, Su Hao held his breath, making not a sound, preparing to leave silently. However, his ears suddenly picked up a subtle swishing noise from behind. Out of instinct, he stepped sideways to avoid it.

A gray-clad man wielding a short stick had been about to viciously strike Su Hao’s head from behind, but thanks to Su Hao’s quick reflexes, the blow missed, only brushing past him!

“There’s a third person?”

Su Hao was slightly startled. If not for his mastery of Baduanjin and his heightened senses, he might have been ambushed and captured just now!

But due to the commotion, the two knife-wielding members of the Black Snake Gang turned their icy gazes towards Su Hao, their eyes now filled with caution and ruthlessness.

“It’s a young boy…”The three men’s eyes gleamed with malice. Having been caught committing murder, the best course of action was undoubtedly to silence the witness.

Su Hao lowered his head and quickly said, “Gentlemen… I know the rules. I haven’t seen your faces… All the money I have is right here.”

He hurriedly pulled out a small cloth bag from his chest, containing a few hundred copper coins, his wages for the day.

Facing these ruthless killers who had dismembered a body—and knowing he’d been discovered—Su Hao’s first thought was not to fight them to the death. Instead, he offered up his money, while his body was tense, ready to sprint away at any moment, knowing his life was precious and singular.

Su Hao’s submissive actions slightly eased the expressions of the three Black Snake Gang members. They realized this boy was merely passing by by chance. Yet, the killing intent in their eyes did not diminish in the slightest.

In a time of chaos like this, no one would bother to investigate the murder of an unimportant monk. But since they were caught in the act, it was natural to consider silencing witnesses as the best plan.

“Hey? This kid looks familiar… Is he from that blacksmith shop?”

The gray-clad man who had earlier tried to ambush Su Hao stared at him and spoke with a hint of surprise.

The Black Snake Gang had previously visited Zhao Family Blacksmith Shop to have weapons made, and Su Hao, serving as a handyman there, had been seen by this man. Now, he recognized him!

Hearing this, Su Hao’s expression froze, and a chill rose in his heart. These three men recognized his identity and background, which meant they weren’t going to let him go.

Even if Su Hao managed to escape, they knew his identity and address, and they wouldn’t rest until they dealt with him.

The only solution… was a fight to the death!

“Don’t… don’t kill me…”

On the surface, Su Hao waved his hands, trembling with fear, and stumbled backward.

“Kill him!”

The man in gray couldn’t hold back any longer. He knew that if he let Su Hao go, there was a risk of being reported. He decided it was better to finish it—in for a penny, in for a pound. Killing one more wasn’t a big deal. His eyes flashed with murderous intent as he charged at Su Hao again, swinging a short club.

Although not as lethal as a sword, the club was made from the extremely tough white waxwood, making it very resilient. A full-force swing could even smash rocks. Against flesh and bones, it threatened to shatter.

Facing this incoming club, the panic on Su Hao’s face vanished, replaced with calm composure.

Some people become paralyzed in the face of life-and-death situations, while others remain remarkably calm. Su Hao, with his ‘Remarkable Bone’, was one of the latter!

Whoosh!

In Su Hao’s eyes, the club’s trajectory appeared as clear as slow motion. He quickly reached out, his left hand’s five fingers spread, and precisely caught the gray-clad man’s wrist, stopping the club in its tracks!

“Huh? Let go!”

The man in gray was shocked and tried to pull away from Su Hao’s grip, but to his surprise, the seemingly delicate and frail boy before him had extraordinary strength; he couldn’t break free!

“Die!”

Su Hao pulled forcefully on the man’s wrist, causing him to stumble and lose his balance. His calloused right hand clenched into a fist and struck the man’s neck fiercely.

The neck, full of blood vessels and dense nerves, is a lethal target if struck with full force!

Crack!

Su Hao’s punch landed on the man’s neck with tremendous force. The impact burst his adam’s apple, and even shattered the cervical vertebra with its shockwave.

“Ugh… ugh…”

Instantly, the man in gray felt suffocated, his brain congested, eyes reddened, and though his mouth gaped open, he could only emit garbled sounds. Dizzy and disoriented, he collapsed limply to the ground!

Gone was Su Hao’s earlier look of panic and fear. Now there was only cold ferocity. His eyes fixed firmly on the remaining two. He knew that at this point, words were pointless; only by killing them all could he continue to live his life!

“Third Brother!”

“Kill him!”

Two members of the Black Snake Gang were momentarily stunned, not expecting the seemingly slender Su Hao to take down the man in gray with just one move. They shouted in a mix of shock and anger, brandishing bloodied long knives as they charged at Su Hao with fury.

The knives sliced through the air with a slight whistling sound. The sharpness of the blades was something flesh and bone could not withstand!

Yet, Su Hao felt as if he had melded with the wind, moving instinctively with it.

“Swish! Swish!”

The two slashes aimed at him from left and right both missed.

Though achieving great accomplishment in Baduanjin wouldn’t turn Su Hao into a martial arts master, it had unlocked his potential. His body’s coordination, agility, strength, speed, and reflexes were at the pinnacle of normal human capability, allowing him to take on multiple foes barehanded with ease!

“What?”

The tall, slender man’s pupils constricted, thinking Su Hao appeared agile like a wildcat. As Su Hao avoided their slashes, his right leg suddenly kicked towards the lower half of the slender man’s body.

“Crack!”

The kick landed squarely on the slender man’s groin, accompanied by a faint sound of something cracking.

“Ah… ahhh!”

It was a pain no man could endure. The slender man’s short knife fell to the ground as he clutched himself, eyes rolling back in agony. A shrill scream burst from his throat, and he convulsed, losing his fighting ability.

In life-and-death combat, the aim is to incapacitate the enemy. Su Hao did not consider his actions cruel or despicable!

“Whoosh!”

A whooshing sound came from behind. Without needing to look, Su Hao knew the attack from the man in black was coming. Without hesitation, he grabbed the slender man’s collar, using his arm strength to shift their positions and using the slender man as a human shield against the attacker!

“Thud!”

The man in black’s knife sliced into the slender man’s shoulder, with the blade embedding itself deep into bone.

The man in black was clearly stunned, not expecting Su Hao’s reactions and speed to be so swift! While he was in a daze, Su Hao lunged at him like a fierce wolf. The man in black hurriedly tried to pull out his knife to defend himself, but the blade was stuck in the slender man’s body and couldn’t be withdrawn in time!

Su Hao tackled the man in black to the ground, his hands locked tightly around the man’s neck. His ten fingers exerted force, squeezing tightly. The veins on the back of his hands and arms stood out from the effort.

“Let… go…”

The man in black struggled desperately, but it was as futile as a frail girl facing the assault of a strong man. His neck was squeezed and twisted until it broke, blood dripping from his mouth and nose.

It wasn’t until the man in black’s eyes bulged and he completely lost his breath that Su Hao released his grip, gasping for air.

Although the fight lasted only a brief moment, to Su Hao it felt more exhausting than an entire day of forging iron!

After catching his breath, Su Hao recovered a bit and heard a faint groaning. The slender man was still alive, curled up on the ground, managing to utter a few words with difficulty: “Dare… dare to kill me, the Black Snake Gang won’t… spare…”

However, before the slender man could finish his threat, a cold glint flashed in Su Hao’s eyes. He picked up the short knife from the ground and, with a forceful slash, cut the slender man’s throat as he looked on in terror!

To ensure there were no loose ends, Su Hao also cut the necks and arteries of the remaining two individuals, making sure they were completely dead!

“I must leave this place immediately…”

After thoroughly eliminating any potential threats, Su Hao wiped the sweat from his forehead and quickly started moving. Before leaving, he searched the bodies of the three Black Snake Gang members to see if they had any valuables.

Unfortunately, they only had a few scattered copper coins, nothing of real value.

Then there was the monk in gray. Previously attacked by the three members of the Black Snake Gang, he was killed and decapitated. Judging by his strong physique, he was likely a martial artist, ambushed and killed by the slender man and his partners. Su Hao noticed that the monk’s face was covered in a mix of blood and gray powder—lime.

Su Hao was unaware of the grudge between the parties that led to such a vicious killing, nor was he curious. Yet, he noticed something hidden in the gray monk’s robe, prompting him to squat down and search through the monk’s clothing.

On the gray monk’s body, Su Hao discovered a cloth bundle. Inside the bundle, apart from some dried food, there was the outline of a book.

“A book? Could it be some kind of martial arts manual?”

Su Hao’s heart skipped a beat at this thought. He briefly rubbed the outline, speculating about its contents, but this was not the time to investigate further. He tucked it into his chest, and after checking to ensure that he wasn’t visibly stained with blood, he quickly made his way out of the forest.

Su Hao knew better than to spend too much time dealing with the bodies, as doing so might attract unwanted attention. The three men he had killed belonged to the Black Snake Gang, an organization he couldn’t afford to provoke at his current level!
