Chapter 12: Bartering! Two Secret Manuals!

“I can give you a maximum of two manuals for this one; you can choose any two from my stall.” The man in blue was firm in his stance, unwilling to make a loss in the deal and only accepting a two-for-one exchange.

Ultimately, Su Hao accepted this condition, agreeing to exchange one manual for two from the man in blue, under the condition that he wouldn’t sell his manual in the local market anymore. This arrangement was not a loss for either party; both could get what they needed.

Su Hao then began to select from the manuals at the stall: “I definitely need the lightness technique manual, ‘Eight Steps to Catch the Cicada’; for the other one, I’ll choose another fist technique. Since I have a foundation in fist techniques, training in a new one will be more efficient.”

Su Hao initially wanted to choose a weapon-based martial art, but there were only two weapon techniques available at the stall: ‘Feather Sword Technique’ and ‘Five Tiger Soul Severing Blade.’ Between the sword and the blade, Su Hao leaned more toward the blade techniques. Working at a blacksmith shop, he forged weapons predominantly made of knives; blades are more practical and easier to master than swords!

“‘Five Tiger Soul Severing Blade’… Sounds like a martial art used by extras; I’ll go with ‘Heavy Mountain Fist’ instead.” After some consideration, Su Hao swiftly made his decision and chose the ‘Heavy Mountain Fist’ manual. His goal was to enhance his potential as much as possible, and selecting a fist technique that complemented his existing foundation would yield quicker results.

With the transaction complete, Su Hao exchanged his ‘Vajra Fist’ manual for the ‘Heavy Mountain Fist’ and ‘Eight Steps to Catch the Cicada’ martial arts manuals.

“This young man is quite strange… Just one martial art is enough for someone to devote all their energy to study, yet he seems to want to learn multiple arts, which is a bit ambitious.” Watching Su Hao’s departing figure, the man in blue murmured to himself.

Although Su Hao was wearing a mask, he could discern that Su Hao was actually quite young. For a martial artist, typically, mastering a single martial art could take ten years, decades, or even a lifetime to study; quality is more important than quantity. Attempting to learn everything would lead to a lack of proficiency in them all!

Of course, the man in blue had no idea of Su Hao’s unique talents, which couldn’t be judged by conventional notions. Unaware of the stall owner’s thoughts, Su Hao tucked away the manuals and continued to stroll around the black market.

“Bang!”

At that moment, Su Hao suddenly felt a jolt in his heart as a man in gray hurriedly walked by, keeping his head down, and bumped right into him. Instinctively, Su Hao’s Strength Force surged slightly within him, causing him to sway only a little, while the man in gray staggered back as if he had collided with a wall.

“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”

The man in gray kept bowing and apologizing. Su Hao frowned, remaining silent and coldly staring at the man. He instinctively felt that the man had intentionally bumped into him.

“I’m really sorry for bumping into you; I tripped a moment ago, and I have to go, so I’ll take my leave…”

The man in gray apologized once again, filled with remorse, and then hurriedly disappeared into the Ghost Market with his head bowed.

“It seems I’ve attracted some trouble,” Su Hao thought, watching the retreating figure of the man in gray. He silently noted that conflicts were not allowed within the black market, but once outside, no one would care.

After wandering around a bit more, Su Hao realized he had achieved the purpose of his visit and decided not to linger any longer, turning around discreetly to leave the black market.

Some vendors watched Su Hao’s departing figure, their eyes displaying a hint of sympathy. “That guy has caught Tiger Head’s attention… Things might not end well for him.”

“Once you leave the black market, we bear no responsibility for your safety, so be careful,” a black-clothed swordsman at the entrance remarked as he saw Su Hao step out, offering a cool reminder.

Su Hao simply nodded and quickened his pace, heading out of the valley.

…

“Someone really is targeting me, and it’s not just one person! Moreover… those who dare to actively kill and rob are definitely not the same as characters like Chen Dao, those local ruffians!”

On the way out, Su Hao slightly turned his head, catching a glimpse from the corner of his eye, revealing a hint of coldness in his gaze. In this black market, identities were concealed, and in a situation where neither party knew the other’s background, taking the risk to kill and rob might bring success once or twice due to luck, but walking near the river meant one could not avoid getting their shoes wet. If luck ran out and he inadvertently crossed paths with a formidable master, it would be his life on the line!

But now, someone had targeted Su Hao, and it was clear that this opponent was confident, believing they could take Su Hao down.

“Big Brother, that man in black initially wanted to buy a secret book worth a hundred taels of silver, so he must have at least that much money on him. It seems he’s a big, fat sheep.”

“I just bumped into him to test the waters, and it seems he’s a martial artist at the Refining Strength stage. Big Brother, you’re also at that level, and with both of us together, we’re almost guaranteed to take him down!”

A few dozen meters behind Su Hao, three men wearing different masks closely followed him, their eyes flashing with excitement. They had previously set their sights on Su Hao, knowing he was a target worth exploiting. Furthermore, to ensure safety, they had tested him by deliberately bumping into him in the black market to gauge his strength. If he was strong, he would either dodge the hit or instinctively absorb the impact if he did get hit.

After Su Hao was struck, the Strength Force inside him naturally activated, which allowed the man in gray to assess Su Hao’s power level, identifying him as someone at the Refining Strength stage, likely having recently undergone physical refinement practices. Of the three, there were also Refining Strength martial artists, and with the advantage of numbers, they could confidently overpower him and seize a hefty fortune!

“Trying to escape? That fat sheep has spotted us; hurry, let’s catch up!”

At that moment, the man wearing the Tiger Head mask urged, seeing Su Hao quicken his pace and break into a run. The three didn’t hesitate; having already revealed their presence, they increased their speed and pursued him relentlessly.

However, when they entered a dense woods, the Tiger Head masked man and the others suddenly stopped in shock. Not far away, under the shadow of a large tree, Su Hao stood quietly, no longer fleeing. His eyes gleamed with a cold light, the blood and energy within him surging. His muscles stirred and expanded, resembling a beast coming back to life!

“I must strike like a lion hunting a rabbit, using all my strength!”

Su Hao understood that these three daredevils chasing him clearly harbored malicious intent and were likely not new to the trade of killing and robbing; they must have some confidence in their own abilities as well. Therefore, he had to unleash his full power immediately, leaving them no room to breathe and taking the initiative!

With his mastery of Baduanjin perfected, Su Hao could control his own blood and energy as well as his muscle groups impeccably. His blood and energy surged rapidly, stimulating all his muscles and awakening all his potential, pushing his physical abilities to an extreme level.

“Boom!”

In the next moment, Su Hao stepped down, and his body surged out of the darkness like a leopard, creating indistinct afterimages as he lunged towards the man in gray.

The gray-clad man was startled, instinctively raising his hand to swing his knife, but Su Hao’s explosive speed was too terrifying. Before the blade could fall, Su Hao was already right in front of him.

Vajra Fist. Vajra Needle!

Using the momentum of his charge, Su Hao executed a front stance punch, his arm seeming to extend a whole foot out of thin air. With five fingers together forming a cone, he struck directly, tearing through the air with both speed and ferocity, much like a white crane swooping in for prey—swift as lightning!

Before the gray-clad man could swing the knife, Su Hao’s punch had already jabbed into his throat.

“Crack!”

With a sound of shattering throat bones, accompanied by the ripping of flesh, Su Hao’s fist, sharp as a needle, actually pierced halfway into the man’s throat.

“Gurgle… gurgle!”

The gray-clad man’s eyes widened in shock as blood gushed from his mouth and the gaping wound in his throat.

Su Hao withdrew his hand, and the gray-clad man’s entire strength seemed to be drained away, collapsing to the ground.

With one strike, Su Hao killed the approaching gray-clad man as effortlessly as one might dispatch a chick. His face remained expressionless beneath the mask; these three had pursued him with ill intentions, and killing them was not an excessive response!
