Who is the Survivor, and who is the Hunter?

…

An Wumeng: “???”

He seemed to understand what the Gamer meant, yet at the same time, it felt like he didn’t.

But one thing was certain, “Did you find Taotie?”

An Wumeng clutched the fading card and asked, “Where are you?”

“Downstairs.” The Gamer looked around, searching for a landmark, and finally her gaze landed on the statue on the nearby lawn, “Right in front of that…the lawn with a bunch of snack statues standing on it.”

“I’ll be right there.” An Wumeng remembered the group of peculiarly shaped food statues.

Only a neighborhood that calls itself a foodie’s paradise would put up such statues in its central square, and only such a place could attract a glutton to live here.

Downstairs, the infected who had their mushrooms removed gradually regained consciousness. When they realized they were tied up together with a group of people, they reacted with extreme panic.

“Why am I here?”

“Who tied me up?”

“Ah! My clothes are torn!”

“Has anyone seen my dog?”

The Gamer quickly stepped forward, took out her ID, and said,

“I’m with the Security Department. There’s a type of hallucinogenic mushroom in this neighborhood, and you were just affected by it. Please don’t worry, professionals will examine and treat you shortly.”

Yi Xing left quietly.

His target was the mushroom that was the source of all the tempting aroma; these small mushrooms were just appetizers.

Crossing the grass and the buildings, before even reaching the ancient tree, Yi Xing saw the enormous mushroom towering taller than the tree itself.

A white stalk stretched out from the ancient tree’s exposed, gnarled roots, and its massive, ghostly blue cap shrouded the tree, which had withered to death after being drained of nutrients.

“You grow so fast.” Yi Xing couldn’t help but exclaim in amazement.

Earlier, when he had located the mushroom from the balcony by its scent, it had been so small it was nearly invisible.

In less than half an hour, it had grown to nearly seven stories high.

If he raised this mushroom, wouldn’t that mean he wouldn’t go hungry for a long time?

“As Yi Xing walked toward the mushroom, he silently went through possible places where he could grow it.

When he came within five meters of the mushroom, a white, net-like veil suddenly spread out from the edge of its cap.

The fungus curtain fell to the ground, like a prison, trapping Yi Xing inside.

[Oh no, the boss is going strong! ]

[The boss is so big, its health bar must be very thick.]

[Yi-zai doesn’t seem to have acquired any special abilities yet, unlike other streamers. He’ll probably have a hard time dealing damage to the boss.]

[What should we do then? Does that mean he can’t eat the mushroom anymore?]

Yi Xing looked up, admiring the magnificent and exquisite fungal curtain, while various cooking methods, steaming, boiling, frying, and stir-frying, flashed through his mind.

“My parasite didn’t catch you, yet here you are delivering yourself.”

A slightly youthful boy’s voice sounded, as if coming from the mushroom’s cap.

Yi Xing was slightly surprised, “A talking mushroom?”

“Are these your last words? I got it.”

As the words fell, the massive mushroom trembled, and countless points of light scattered from its cap, cascading down like a pouring river of stars.

“Get out of the way!”

 A man’s voice came from a distance.

Although he had been tens of meters away when speaking, by the time his words fell, he was already outside the fungal curtain.

An Wumeng raised his gun outside the fungus curtain and accurately shot down the light spot that was about to fall on Yi Xing.

The gunfire continued, but the spores were simply too numerous.

An Wumeng flicked his wrist, tossing out a card, “Come over here!”

The card passed through the holes in the curtain and flew in front of Yi Xing.

Yi Xing reached out to catch it and turned it over.

The back of the card featured a pattern of interwoven blue lines, while the front showed a person dashing forward with a residual afterimage, a very intriguing design.

What really caught Yi Xing’s attention was that this card also had a pleasant smell.

Not only that card, but even the gun the person outside was holding, and the bullets fired from it, carried an enticing scent.

If it weren’t for the mushroom he had his eye on since early morning, Yi Xing would have been tempted to go pick up the bullets.

Outside the curtain, An Wumeng reloaded, fired several shots, and tore a hole just big enough for one person to pass through. Looking up, he saw Yi Xing still standing in place, unmoving, and couldn’t help but get anxious.

“What are you still standing there for? Get out now!”

An Wumeng assumed Yi Xing didn’t understand the rules of the hunting ground, and added, “No need to confront him head-on. We just need to survive for three hours, and the hunting ground will automatically end.”

Those words served as a reminder to Yi Xing, which also changed the expression on his face.

He asked, “Will the mushrooms disappear after the hunting grounds are closed?”

“He’ll leave.” An Wumeng had already seen several spores land on Yi Xing and could only hope the Gamer would draw a healing-type card.

After receiving a positive answer, Yi Xing’s gaze fell on Mushroom and he raised his hand.

He wasn’t actually hungry yet, so he wasn’t in a hurry to eat the mushrooms. He wanted to wait and see how big the mushrooms could grow, and even wanted to find a place to grow them.

Now that he knew the mushroom would be gone soon, he couldn’t wait any longer and had to eat it as soon as possible.

Twenty-two blood spider silks shot out from between Yi Xing’s fingers, instantly embedding themselves into the mushroom’s stalk.

“Blood spider silk?!”

Not only An Wumeng, who had been keeping an eye on Yi Xing, was surprised, but Mushroom was also surprised.

“How can you use blood spider silk?!”

The mushroom shook violently, and more spores fell.

He wanted to get the blood spider silk from Yi Xing’s body because he thought the blood spider silk was a “talent” and could not be digested. As long as he caught Yi Xing, he could cut the blood spider silk out of Yi Xing’s stomach.

He never thought that Yi Xing would truly possess the Blood Spider Silk.

[Wow, cool!]

[Is this the skill that the Cub obtained from the previous dungeon?]

[Strange…I’ve never seen anyone obtain a talent or special ability like this.]

Outside the fungus curtain, An Wumeng held the gun, not knowing what to do for a moment.

He saw that the part of the stem where the blood spider silk had penetrated quickly turned gray, just like the dead and decayed old tree beside it.

He also saw Yi Xing’s cheeks flushed red like a drunk, which made his handsome face even more charming.

At this moment, An Wumeng couldn’t tell who was the Survivor and who was the Hunter.

[Holding my breath, not daring to speak.]

[What are you doing, take a screenshot!]

[I’ve watched Yi-zai’s livestreams for years, but I never knew he had such a…seductive side.]

[Maternal love teeters on the edge of corruption.]

[After today, how many more mom fans will Yi-zai lose?]

[I’ll go first, husband! Mommy loves you! ]

[It has deteriorated, but not completely.]

Rich energy was transmitted into Yi Xing’s body along the blood spider silk.

Yi Xing was a little embarrassed, but he really liked this feeling.

He knew he was far from his limit. He could store this energy, or even create a…follower.

Yi Xing didn’t think about it anymore.

In front of him, the giant mushroom was shaking madly, as if it was trying to uproot itself.

“Are you seriously going to pull yourself out and use that one stalk of yours to escape?” Yi Xing asked.

Feeling mocked, the mushroom became furious.

It would be great if he could escape like that, but the problem was that once he changed form and rooted himself, he couldn’t move.

His energy and vitality were constantly being absorbed by the blood spider silk, and the spores he released had no effect on this person.

No matter how hard he tried to activate them, the spores that had entered this Survivor’s body were like stones sinking into the sea, there was not the slightest response.

It was as if all his spores were eaten by something in the other person’s body.

“That’s enough!”

The mushroom retracted its curtain and said, “I’ll let you go. I won’t attack you in this hunting ground, leave quickly!”

Yi Xing was surprised that Mushroom would say such a thing.

The tone of his voice was as if he had made a huge concession.

“You seem to have misunderstood something,” Yi Xing said with a smile. “This isn’t a question of whether you hunt us or not.”
