…
Collect points?
Ordinary people shouldn’t have points. Those who did were Survivors bound to the light screen, like him or perhaps…Hunters?
If he chooses to collect points, will ordinary viewers still be able to watch his livestream?
Will the platform still count his livestream duration?
Yi Xing decided to give it a try. He raised his hand and lightly tapped the light screen, setting the points-to-collect number to the maximum allowed——100.
He quietly waited for the livestream to start.
If his livestream can be seen by ordinary people, and it counts toward the monthly livestream hours, then everything would be fine.
If not…
Points could only be exchanged for the expensive yet ordinary foods on the light screen shelves, whereas the monthly livestream earnings could allow him to buy all the food in human society. It was a choice even a child could make.
As the screen appeared, white comment bullets started popping up one after another, competing to be first.
[The missing person has returned!]
[Cub~ you’re finally live.]
[Cub, you slacked off! You used to start streaming breakfast at four or five in the morning, and today you didn’t go live until a full eight o’clock!]
[I can’t eat without watching Yi-zai.]
[Huh? Wait, we’re in the gaming section again, so is today a game livestream too?]
Seeing the comments, Yi Xing replied, “I hope it’s a food livestream, I haven’t eaten mushrooms in a long time.”
[Yay! Doing a food livestream inside a game dungeon.]
[My cub is the best food anchor in the game area! ]
[Mushrooms, fried mushrooms, stewed mushrooms, grilled mushrooms~]
Seeing all the mushroom-eating suggestions in the comments, Yi Xing grew increasingly excited. He couldn’t help quickening his pace, brushing past a few pedestrians whose walking postures were somewhat odd.
A few faint scents wafted by, causing Yi Xing to pause slightly. He turned back to look at those people.
Coincidentally, those people also stopped, turned around a little stiffly, and looked at Yi Xing with empty eyes.
Then, as if they had confirmed something, they all rushed towards him.
[Damn, zombies! This is an apocalypse dungeon.]
[Are they really zombies?]
[Blank eyes, foaming at the mouth, stiff movements, just short of rotting. Even if they’re not zombies, they’re pretty much the same.]
The first one to approach was a big black dog. It jumped high and opened its mouth wide, trying to bite Yi Xing’s neck.
Yi Xing’s feet stayed planted, but his body was already leaning backward.
His upper body was parallel to the ground, and the dog flew over him.
[Good waist!]
[Whoa, now I believe this is a game. This body is definitely modeled, no foodie who can eat twenty bowls in one sitting could be this flexible!]
Yi Xing identified the source of the faint scent, it was coming from the strange dog and those peculiar humans.
After confirming this, he suddenly reached out and grabbed the dog leash that flew over his head, straightened his body and pulled the big black dog back.
“Woof! Wuwu——”
Amid the wailing of the big black dog, Yi Xing sidestepped slightly to avoid the charging burly man. The leash in his hand wrapped around the man’s body, binding him together with the black dog.
The buzzing of several motorcycles grew louder as they approached. Yi Xing listened to the engines while leading the man and the dog in circles around a bench by the roadside.
Motorcycles crashed into benches or darted into neatly trimmed bushes.
Yi Xing pulled the people off the motorcycles before they hit anything.
Two, three, four…as more and more of the strange people were captured, Yi Xing soon ran out of leash. He had no choice but to rip off their ties or whatever else they were wearing, and use them to bind them instead.
When a little girl stumbled toward him, waving her arms and trying to grab his hand to bite, Yi Xing realized he had nothing left to tie people up with.
Just as he was fretting, a girl appeared with several tissues pressed over her nose and mouth. She pulled the little girl away from him, then took off her shoulder bag and used it to bind the child.
Then, without saying a word, she grabbed the tissue in her hand and covered Yi Xing’s face with it.
Yi Xing stepped back to dodge, his gaze darkening as he scrutinized the young girl before him.
The girl’s eyes were clear, but her body also had a faint mushroom scent.
“There are mushroom spores in the air. Inhaling them will cause infection!” The girl looked anxious and handed a wet tissue to Yi Xing, motioning him to cover his mouth and nose.
Yi Xing didn’t answer. He knew his condition clearly. He was not infected, and there was nothing in his body that shouldn’t be there.
He was curious, “Who are you?”
To know all this, she definitely couldn’t be just an ordinary person.
The girl blurted out, “Cub, I am your mother.”
[???]
[A family recognition scene?]
[No way? This young lady doesn’t look much older than Yi-zai. She can’t possibly be so well-maintained, right?]
Yi Xing understood what she meant. Every day in his live broadcast room, countless people wanted to be his mother.
He hadn’t said anything yet, but the girl already realized she’d said something strange and hurried to make up for it,
“Sorry, I just blurted it out. I’m a D-Class Survivor, codenamed Gamer. I really like you…I like your live stream!”
The Gamer, Yi Xing remembered that name. She was one of the Survivors in this hunting ground. There was another Survivor too, called “The Dreamer”.
Yi Xing nodded slightly to show that he understood.
The Gamer immediately handed over the tissue again.
“I don’t need this.” Yi Xing glanced at the monsters he had tied together or perhaps it would be more accurate to call them the infected.
The fragrance of these infected people became stronger, so strong that it seemed to burst out of their bodies.
Yi Xing crouched down, reaching toward the black dog’s chest. Amid the fur, his fingers touched something smooth.
The object had a hemispherical top, with a slightly longer column extending from its base. It looked just like…
“Stay away from the infected!”
The Gamer quickly stepped forward and reached out to pull Yi Xing.
“The spores draw nutrients from within the infected, growing into mushrooms that burst out of the body. Those mushrooms carry an infectiousness on par with the spores themselves.”
Just like a mushroom.
Yi Xing moved his fingers slightly and picked the mushroom off.
Withdrawing his hand, he finally saw the mushroom he had plucked.
Its whole body was a ghostly blue, translucent like ice.
As it moves, tiny dots of light cascade down from the bottom of the cap, like falling icing sugar.
It looks delicious.
The Gamer was stunned, “Hurry, hold your breath and throw it away!”
All Yi Xing could see was the crystal clear little mushroom in front of him, he could no longer see or hear anything else.
He put the mushroom to his mouth and swallowed it in one gulp.
Only vermicelli noodles need to be cooked. This little jelly shaped like a mushroom was nothing more than a dessert.
Who will toss a dessert into a pot?
[This is not something you can eat, my fellow mushroom lovers!]
[Blue cap, white stem, let’s lie down together after eating*.]
[It’s just a mushroom, shouldn’t be a problem, right? Will it really count as death?]
[“Infinite Paradise” really does have food poisoning mechanics. The last Survivor I followed ate a snack on the table and immediately collapsed, only to be stabbed away by a Hunter who appeared.]
[It’s over. This is probably Yi-zai’s last time live streaming this game. Cherish every moment.]
Yi Xing narrowed his eyes happily.
Sweet and refreshing, smooth and tender, melting the moment it touched his tongue, the taste was explosively good.
He could eat a hundred more of them!
No, ten thousand!
Yi Xing turned his attention to the other infected people.
“Awooo——” The black dog, its mushroom plucked away, suddenly let out a howl.
Its eyes regained their luster, and it found itself tied up with a group of strange humans. It looked very nervous, struggling and howling constantly.
Annoyed by the noise, Yi Xing reached out and gave the rope at the back of the black dog’s neck a twist, snapping it with ease.
The black dog scurried away.
Yi Xing plucked a larger mushroom from the infected’s chest and popped it into his mouth, once again conquered by its delicious flavor.
“Gamer, how are you doing?”
An Wumeng‘s voice came from the headset. The Gamer struggle to find her own voice and her lips and said,
“I think…I’m fine.”
An Wumeng: “I searched the entire building but couldn’t find Taotie. He might have fallen into Mushroom’s hands.”
“No.”
“What?” An Wumeng was puzzled.
The Gamer watched Yi Xing eat the mushroom from the last infected person, and said with mixed feelings,
“He didn’t fall into the hands of the mushrooms, but Mushrooms’ little mushrooms ended up in his stomach.”
