…
As the red barrage of comments slowly slid across the top of the screen, the blue barrage disappeared for a brief moment.
After a long while, a single blue comment slowly drifted across the screen.
[Hunters…are all perverts as expected.]
The appearance of this comment prompted the red comments to all erupt in laughter.
[Hehe, thank you for the compliment.]
[Little Survivor, if you come to my dungeon, I will make you die even more painfully.]
[Hey, the new guy is looking at us, don’t scare him.]
[Why are there so many ordinary people in this live broadcast room? ]
[This newcomer was originally a streamer. Letting the fans watch their beloved streamer being brutally destroyed, and then, after the shock, seeing the streamer’s death announcement in real life, just thinking about it is extremely amusing.]
A death announcement in real life…which means that dying in the dungeon equals dying in reality.
Yi Xing was not surprised by this.
His current body isn’t the model the fans thought it was; if he dies, then he truly dies.
[Hopeless…the Hunter is about to complete its mutation, and you’re still sitting here watching the chat?]
A particularly sweet fragrance spread from the doorway, stimulating Yi Xing to salivate uncontrollably. His mind was completely consumed by the enticing aroma, unable to pay any attention to the chat on the screen.
The fragrance rushed toward him. Excited, Yi Xing spun around, and with the motion of his turn, he lifted his hand and caught the source of the scent in midair.
They were several tough and highly elastic red strands, carrying a warm, slick texture, much like tendons freshly taken from a living cow.
Just looking at it whets the appetite.
“You’re too kind, giving me such a lavish gift right after we just met,” Yi Xing said, feeling very grateful toward the thin man.
However, the man no longer looked like before, when his clothes were too tight even for his thin frame. Now his belly had swollen like a huge balloon, almost tearing the overly loose clothes apart.
The man was lying on the ground in a strange posture, as if his legs, too slender compared to his huge belly, couldn’t support it. He had no choice but to lower his center of gravity and use both arms to help hold himself up.
The red strands extended from the man’s body, connecting to his enormous belly, like a spider spinning its silk.
“How could you…” The man’s eyes turned red as he stared at Yi Xing’s hand holding the red thread, a look of astonishment appearing on his face.
Then, he suddenly realized something and said,
“You’ve actually awakened a talent. Is it reflexes, speed, or perhaps a premonition of danger?”
He clearly hadn’t expected Yixing to respond and spoke to himself, “Even if you awaken your talent, if you fall into my nest, you’ll still be at my mercy!”
As the man spoke, more than ten red threads pierced through his clothes and shot out from his huge belly at a speed as fast as an arrow.
There’s more!
Yi Xing’s eyes widened as he watched the red strands wrap around his wrists, ankles, waist, and even his neck.
The red strands kept coiling around his body, loop after loop, tightening with each turn, multiplying endlessly, as if determined to completely envelop him.
“I’ve changed my mind. I’m not going to eat you, I’m going to turn you into a vessel for cultivating spider silk.”
Like a spider, the man moved on all fours across the ground, circling slowly around Yixing, whose lower body was already wrapped in blood-red strands of silk, his eyes gleaming with eager excitement.
He laughed and said,
“This body of yours will surely be able to produce three strands of silk for me.”
“So little?” Yi Xing couldn’t help but frown.
The spider-like man tilted his head back and glared at Yi Xing with displeasure.
“You think blood silk is so easy to cultivate? A Survivor like you, who has just awakened his talent, can produce at most three strands! I’ve been a Hunter for so many years, and I’ve only accumulated twenty-two Blood Spider Silks…”
His voice suddenly stopped, and he turned his head to look somewhere to the side. A look of regret appeared on his face, as if he regretted saying this to Yi Xing.
The spot the spider-like man was looking at held nothing but air, there was nothing else.
Or…perhaps, like him, there was a glowing screen that followed them everywhere, still streaming live.
Yi Xing’s speculative thoughts flickered past without lingering, for he didn’t care about the screen or anything else. The only thing that mattered to him was that the spider-like man had only twenty-two strands of blood spider silk.
The total number of blood spider silks released by the opponent in two rounds was exactly twenty-two, no more, no less.
Yi Xing refused to believe it and slightly turned his head toward the live-streaming screen, wanting to see if those sending colorful comments knew anything.
[Idiot! Exposing your abilities on a live stream, do you really think no Survivors are watching?]
These were red comments.
[Twenty-two strands of blood spider silk…is that for real?]
[It should be.]
[Ai, that last Survivor had already forced out nineteen strands of spider silk, basically pushing the spider to its limit. Unfortunately…he died at the doorway.]
These were blue comments.
Yi Xing’s heart sank as he watched. He averted his gaze but, unwilling to give up, asked the original being,
“Is that really all? 22 strands?”
The blood spider silk on his body had stopped coiling, as if the spider-like man had completely exhausted his supply. Not only had the number reached its limit, but the length had too.
The spider-like man glared at Yi Xing irritably, as if ready to pounce and sink his fangs into him.
He indeed did just that, crawling toward Yi Xing on his slightly twisted limbs, opening his mouth to its maximum, ready to bite down on Yi Xing’s leg.
Thud——
Before he could even take a bite, the spider-like man’s face was viciously stomped onto the ground, teeth falling out mixed with fresh blood.
Standing on the man’s face, Yi Xing calmly and deliberately tore the blood spider silk from his body, carefully rolling it into a neat bundle.
He was more meticulous than ever before when gathering ingredients.
The blood spider silk that had previously wound tightly around him, as if trying to constrict his flesh, was easily torn off by him and twisted and compressed into other shapes.
His movements were so relaxed and natural, as if he were merely gathering a ball of yarn.
[???]
[??????]
[What’s happening? The blood spider silk can be torn off so easily? And the spider, he’s just letting him step on it, not fighting back?]
[The spider wanted to fight back, but he couldn’t even shake off the foot of that useless newbie pressing on his face.]
[…this world is magical.]
[Could it be that this newbie’s awakened talent isn’t speed or reflexes, but strength?]
Regardless of the colorful comments expressing suspicion, the white comments also typed out question marks.
[???]
[What’s wrong with this spider monster? Why is it suddenly so lax? ]
[I thought Yi-zai was about to die, thank goodness, thank goodness. After all, in this game, if you die once, you can’t play anymore.]
[Huh? You can’t play if you die once? What do you mean?]
[Anyone who frequently watches ‘Infinite Paradise’ live streams knows that as soon as a streamer dies in the game, the live stream immediately shuts down and will never go live again. It’s said that the ‘Paradise dog officials’ reclaim the beta accounts.]
[Damn! You can’t even die in this game? What kind of ridiculous setting is this?]
[The truth is, many powerful streamers’ accounts have been recycled after they died. Yi-zai probably won’t be able to play for much longer, so cherish your time.]
Yi Xing was holding a ball of red spider silk as big as a watermelon in his arms. He had collected all the spider silk he could.
When he had collected the last bit, he even tugged at the strands connected to the man’s belly, pulling them out by the roots and away from the man’s body, before finally giving up with regret.
The spider-like man had long since passed out, though it was unclear whether it was from the pain or from sheer anger.
「Your talent ‘Blood Spider Silk’ has been stripped away.」
The electronic sound rang in his mind, and the man, who had just fainted, was awakened again.
“Y-you…you…” The spider-like man, pale-faced and wide-eyed with terror, stared at Yixing, stammering “you…” over and over without finishing his sentence.
Yi Xing quietly swallowed as he looked at the bundle of spider silk in his hand, constantly reminding himself in his mind, ‘I must not eat raw food other than fruits and vegetables in front of others,’ just to resist swallowing this sweet and tempting treat.
Hearing the noise coming from the ground, Yi Xing didn’t spare even a glance. He simply withdrew his foot from the man he was standing on and said,
“Once you wake up, go open the door.”
“Open the door?” The man suddenly raised his voice, as if venting all his fear and anger, “Without the key, you’ll never leave this place!”
