…
In JJ Live’s food section, a livestream titled simply ‘Tonight’s Dinner’ dominated the charts, ranking first with a staggering six million in popularity.
Upon entering the livestream, eyes were unconsciously drawn to the person in the center of the screen.
The person had a face as delicate as an elf. While quietly eating, they radiated a sense of happiness, so beautiful it felt as if one had stepped into a fairy tale world.
Most of the viewers’ eyes were glued to the streamer’s face, unable to look away. Few noticed the absurd speed at which he was eating, as if he didn’t need to chew at all. No sooner had one duck wrap entered his mouth than another was already at his lips.
After finishing the last duck wrap, Yi Xing set down his chopsticks.
He glanced at the barrage of comments scrolling across the computer screen in front of him. Suddenly, his brows knitted slightly, and with lowered eyes, he said,
“I’m so hungry.”
The beauty lowered his gaze, speaking in a tone tinged with grievance. It made people want to cry out, “Eat! Eat a bigger portion! Would two servings be enough?”
Fortunately, there were still some fans who kept their reason.
[Cub, wake up, you just ate three whole tables’ worth of dishes!]
[You really can’t eat anymore.]
[If this continues, Mommy won’t be able to support you.]
[Cub, is your stomach an alternate dimension?]
Yi Xing also knew that he shouldn’t eat too much in front of others, but he was really hungry, so he could only say,
“Good night, signing off.”
Having said that, he turned off the livestream without waiting for fans to react.
On the darkened screen, a flood of comments scrolled by.
[????]
[Unfilial son, your livestreams are getting more and more half-hearted.]
[You only care about food, not us, your parents who provide you with food and clothing.]
[Okay, good night. Remember to digest your food before going to sleep.]
[I’m out, going to watch the holographic game stream next door.]
It was impossible to digest the food. Yi Xing picked up his phone and ordered a few meals on two food delivery apps. After placing the orders, he leaned back in his chair and didn’t move.
「Di——」
An electronic voice suddenly rang out, and Yi Xing immediately sat up straight, surprised that the takeaway delivery arrived so quickly.
Before he could get up to open the door, the electronic sound rang again.
「Welcome to ‘Infinite Paradise’. Your identity has been bound.」
「Novice dungeon loading in 300 seconds. Player Yi Xing, please get ready.」
“Hmm…it’s not the food delivery yet.” Yi Xing sank back, disappointment clear on his face.
He was too hungry. Every movement would consume more energy. He didn’t want to move unless it was necessary.
The electronic voice continued counting down.
「288」
「287」
…
…
…
Yi Xing glanced at the time on his phone, 21:37. Even the fastest delivery was only “estimated to arrive by 22:00“.
He set an alarm and fell asleep immediately after closing his eyes.
Sleeping was a good way to conserve energy.
…
…
…

「1」
While half asleep and half awake, Yi Xing “saw” a grayish-white screen.
Words appeared on the light screen.
「Player: Yi Xing」
「Codename: Taotie」
「Faction: *** (calculating)」
After a moment, the text in the faction row changed, and the screen color shifted from gray-white to a deep blue.
「Temporary Faction: Survivor」
「Loading novice dungeon…」
「Loading complete.」
His body suddenly sank backward, and the wooden chair behind him turned into a soft texture, swallowing him as he sank into it.
Yi Xing woke up in shock.
The surroundings were extremely dark, and he could tell from the faint light coming from the window that he was inside a house.
But this was obviously not his home. There was no big dining table and semi-open kitchen that he loved most, nor was there the livestream equipment that he had just used.
A light screen was floating in front of him, the same one he saw in his half-awake state.
New words appeared in the center of the light screen.
「Welcome to the novice dungeon——‘Cat Apartment’. Finding the ‘key’ and escaping the apartment counts as clearing the level.」
「The survival livestream has begun. We look forward to your performance.」
The moment Yi Xing saw the last character, the text shattered and vanished, and the screen displayed the livestream interface he was familiar with.
The lower right corner of the light screen kept prompting certain fans to enter the live broadcast room. Yi Xing was familiar with some of the names, as they were the regular, active viewers.
[Is this live streaming? Why can’t I see anything? It’s completely dark.]
[I turned up the brightness to the highest setting and could barely see it.]
[Although it was dark, I could still feel my cub’s stunning beauty.]
[Cub, why don’t you turn on the light? I’m afraid of the dark. Holding tightly on the quilt.jpg]
Seeing several comments in a row about being afraid of the dark, Yi Xing got up from the sofa, and the screen moved along with his motion.
With his excellent night vision, Yi Xing walked around the cat toy and ball of yarn on the ground, walked to the door and pressed the switch with a click.
The room lit up.
[Thank you, cub~]
[Eh? Where have you gone? This doesn’t look like your place.]
Yi Xing couldn’t tell where he was.
He looked around.
Near the entrance hall were nearly ten pairs of women’s shoes, all about the same size. On a nearby rack hung several bags.
By the window was a cat climbing frame, with cat toys scattered on the floor. In the corner stood a set of cat bowls, one filled with water, the other with cat food.
It seemed that a woman and a cat lived in this house, though neither of them was home.
Yi Xing was the only person in the living room. It was so quiet that he could hear the drip of water from a loosely turned faucet.
Yi Xing wanted to tighten the faucet, but he held back.
This wasn’t his home. Showing up in a stranger’s house late at night was simply unacceptable.
What he needed to do now was leave quickly and pray that the owner of the house wouldn’t report him for trespassing. Just thinking about facing a police investigation was exhausting.
More importantly, the food delivery he ordered was almost here.
With that in mind, Yi Xing didn’t linger. He opened the door and stepped out, turning off the light and closing the door behind him.
The light screen was still floating in front of him at half his arm’s length. Yi Xing glanced at the light screen coldly, with some displeasure in his eyes.
He didn’t know how he had ended up here, but it was definitely connected to that electronic voice and the screen that appeared afterward.
Thinking about the food delivery that was about to arrive and the energy it would take to get back from here, Yi Xing felt a great deal of frustration toward the screen.
At a glance, Yi Xing saw that the comments were all saying he was in the wrong zone.
[Cub! Why did you end up in the game area?]
[And you even picked the ‘Infinite Paradise’ tag.]
Infinite Paradise…
Yi Xing’s eyes fell on those words.
When the electronic voice appeared, the first thing it said was, “Welcome to Infinite Paradise.”
“What is Infinite Paradise?” Yi Xing asked as he walked.
[You don’t even know this? It’s the holographic escape game that’s been super popular lately.]
[Hahaha, Yi-zai is a confirmed foodie, there’s nothing in his eyes but food.]
[What is a game? Can you eat it?]
[I came in from the game section, and I still can’t believe I’m in Yi-zai’s livestream.]
[Cub, did you just accidentally choose the wrong one, or did you actually get your hands on a beta account for Paradise?]
[No way? Beta accounts for Paradise, many top streamers in the game sections can’t even get one.]
Yi Xing read the comments as he made his way to the elevator.
The screen on the elevator button was pitch black. Yi Xing pressed it, but there was no response, perhaps it was malfunctioning.
He didn’t care and strode toward the stairs nearby.
When he was about to step out of the safety door, Yi Xing felt something blocking his body.
There was clearly nothing in front of him, yet he touched an object as hard as a wall, unable to move forward an inch.
The viewers in the livestream also noticed the scene, especially when they saw Yi Xing swat at the air a few times, as if something was blocking his way. The audience suddenly grew excited.
[An invisible wall?!!]
[Woah! Is this really a game? Did I pick the wrong zone?]
[Can holographic games be this realistic?]
[The person ahead is amazing! Anyone who’s watched other ‘Infinite Paradise’ streams knows that the game’s scenes and characters are just like real life!]
Unlike the excitement of the livestream viewers, Yi Xing silently walked toward the window at the end of the corridor.
He opened the window and looked out.
It was already late at night, and visibility outside was extremely low, as if shrouded in a thick fog. Even the lights from the apartment next door appeared unusually hazy.
Looking further down, the base of the building was completely swallowed by darkness, making it impossible to tell how many floors it had.
He was trapped here.
“Di—— Di——”
The sudden alarm broke the silence, and the sound echoed far away in the quiet night.
Yi Xing pulled his phone out of his pocket.
Exactly 22:00, that was the time he had set his alarm for the food delivery.
The estimated delivery time had arrived, could his food have arrived too?
But he didn’t receive a call from the delivery guy.
Something occurred to Yi Xing. He glanced at the status bar at the top of the screen, no signal…
He tightened his grip and nearly crushed the phone.
Yi Xing was able to stay calm despite being inexplicably bound to the screen and transported to a stranger’s room.
But being stuck here, without the ability to order takeout, made Yi Xing very irritable.
Click——
There was the sound of a door opening.
Yi Xing turned around.
This apartment had two units per floor. At this moment, the door of the apartment next to the one he had left opened.
A slightly thin middle-aged man walked out, looked straight in Yi Xing’s direction and grinned at him.
“Are you the neighbor?” The man stared at Yi Xing and smiled, “Did you forget your keys? I’ll contact the building management to unlock the door. Why don’t you come in and wait at my place first?”
As he said this, he walked towards Yi Xing.
Yi Xing looked into the man’s eyes.
He was familiar with the look in the man’s eyes, the gaze of one who eyes prized prey, one who eyes a favorite dish.
After this interruption, Yi Xing’s mind became a little clearer.
He recalled the text displayed on the screen before the livestream started——finding the ‘key’ and escaping the apartment would count as clearing the level.
Clearing the level would presumably allow him to leave this place.
“It’ll take some time for management to unlock the door. Why not rest at my place for a while?” The man approached Yi Xing, his greedy eyes lingering on him.
Yi Xing smelled a faint scent of blood as the man approached.
He looked at the man for a while, then suddenly smiled and said,
“Sure.”
As the only person he had seen in this apartment, perhaps the man knew where the ‘key’ was.
The man was surprised by Yi Xing’s cooperation. He glanced at him with suspicion but still smiled and said,
“Come with me.”
Walking in front, the man kept looking back at Yi Xing, seemingly worried he might escape.
It wasn’t until Yi Xing followed him into the room that he grinned broadly, closing the door with satisfaction.
Yi Xing looked into the room. He didn’t have time to take in the furnishings before his attention was drawn to a few blue comments on the screen in front of him.
JJ livestream only had white comments, and this was the first time he’d seen comments in other colors.
[Another one bringing food to the hunter.]
[Going out without gathering any clues, and then being easily tricked into another space by a stranger in the dungeon, how long has it been since we’ve seen such a reckless newbie?]
[A newbie whose talents haven’t even awakened, too weak, boring.]
[A beautiful but brainless and powerless newbie, there’s no way they’ll make it out of the novice dungeon alive. Might as well quit.]
[Ai, what a pity.]
Then, two more red comments appeared.
[Such a pretty boy, he’d be crying his eyes out if the hunter got him, wouldn’t he?]
[Really looking forward to it~]
The author has something to say:
The story begins~
This is a no-CP, infinite-stream, survival escape game.
Sunnyshies: New tl-ed novel here! The author is a BL writer, so there may be some ambiguous interaction between MC and that one perverted dog character ₍₍⚞(˶˃ ꒳ ˂˶)⚟⁾⁾ You guys will find out! Aaahhh! But I’m shipping them!! If this novel is BL, I wonder who’s eating whom. Ahhh! (⸝⸝⸝> ▵ <⸝⸝⸝)
BTW, our MC is not human, but he will remain completely neutral throughout the whole novel. Although Mc can kill anyone he wants, he basically has boundaries, which will be reflected in the future chapters.
