Chapter 5

Lu Danggui’s way of dealing with things was very simple, he addressed matters, not people.

Therefore, in most cases, his temper came quickly and went quickly, and he would not deliberately hold a grudge against anyone.

If one had to name a person whom Lu Danggui could hold a grudge against for a very long time, hating them so much his teeth itched, then the one before him right now was naturally the most deserving.

Lu Danggui had a secret unknown to others, he was Xing Cheng’s big anti-fan.

Different from the average passerby hater or the purposeful professional hater, to him, Xing Cheng was more than just an entertainment celebrity he disliked.

He had a personal grudge against Xing Cheng.

When he found out who the man in the wheelchair with inconvenient legs was, the first thought that surfaced in Lu Danggui’s mind was “retribution.”

If not for Xing Cheng, Lu Wenfei would not have ended up like this.

Ever since that incident three years ago, he had collected all the Xing Cheng merchandise that had once filled his sister’s bedroom, packed them up, and thrown them into the recycling station at the entrance of their neighborhood.

If in the past, he so much as dared to touch the standee on her desk, Lu Wenfei would pounce at him baring her fangs and brandishing her claws, yelling for her brother not to casually defile Cheng Cheng’s body.

But after that incident, when she saw her brother venting his anger by tearing all the posters off the wall, she only sat silently in the corner with her head lowered, saying nothing.

Because she could no longer pounce into her brother’s arms to fool around at will, her remaining life was destined to be spent in a wheelchair.

“You see, the celebrity you like is actually just a coward in reality, someone completely without responsibility.”
Lu Danggui still remembered how, that day, holding a bag full of torn merchandise, he had furiously said to his sister, “When they need you, they can say all the flowery words in the world from the other side of the screen. When you need them, they only know how to evade responsibility.”

That was the first time in more than ten years of relying on each other that Lu Danggui had gotten so angry.

Celebrity, the brightest star in the sky, these two words carried heavy weight. Yet they were like the moon in the water, the flowers in the mirror, seemingly within reach, but in reality impossibly far away.

From the year Xing Cheng debuted, his sister had become his fan, and by the year of the incident, she had liked him for a full eight years.
Eight years of liking, and she did not receive even a single public apology.

That day, Lu Wenfei had kept her eyes red and remained silent.

It wasn’t until Lu Danggui picked up the garbage bag and was about to go out the door that she finally spoke.

She said, “Brother, Cheng Cheng is not the kind of person you think he is, he must have his difficulties.”

Someone that high and lofty, what kind of damn “difficulties” could they have?

Lu Danggui turned and walked straight out.

And now, the man who had bewitched his sister into liking him for so many years and had caused her to lose her legs was sitting right in front of him.

—

The man in black handed Lu Danggui a medical file, then closed the door behind him and left the consultation room.

This medical observation report issued by HMS in the United States was highly authoritative, clearly detailing Xing Cheng’s basic condition.

Lu Danggui flipped past the first page.

【Patient Name】Xing Cheng

【Age】28 years old

【Occupation】Freelancer

……

【Medical History】History of schizophrenia, with coMorbid alexithymia, accompanied by mild delusional symptoms

For a long time after that incident, merely hearing the words “Xing Cheng” would make Lu Danggui feel a physical discomfort. Later, when the siblings’ lives returned to normal, he gradually began paying attention to news about Xing Cheng again.

Only, while others followed entertainment news, he paid attention only to Xing Cheng’s scandals.

In the past three years, there hadn’t been any huge explosive scandals about Xing Cheng, but small bits of negative news had trickled out continuously. Several of them were still vivid in Lu Danggui’s memory:

【Xing Cheng is a male chauvinist, issuing orders to his female assistant without any politeness】

【Xing Cheng has low EQ, coldly watching when his female companion fell at an awards ceremony】

【Xing Cheng’s “pet the fans” persona collapses, refuses fan gifts at the airport with a constant scowl】

……

Now, combined with the report in his hands, Lu Danggui realized that all these puzzling behaviors that no normal person would do could be explained.

Simply put, this man really was sick, and not just a little sick.

“Doctor Lu?”

Xing Cheng lifted his eyelids.

He didn’t know what was going on in the little doctor’s head, only that the little doctor was getting distracted again.

Pulling himself out of his thoughts, Lu Danggui quickly lifted his head, refocusing his attention on the person in front of him.

A large amount of explosive content flooding his mind in a short time left him with a slight headache.

However, the word “professional” carved into his very bones allowed Lu Danggui to quickly adjust. He pointed to the “alexithymia” entry on the medical record and spoke seriously to Xing Cheng,

“Mr. Xing, according to this report, your schizophrenia has already improved over the past two years. May I take it that you came to the hospital because the symptoms of your comorbid condition have worsened? Otherwise, based on past cases, we would not list it separately as a comorbid manifestation of schizophrenia.”

“Doctor Lu,” Xing Cheng’s tone was elegant, “have you ever felt extremely angry yet powerless?”

Of course he had.

Right now, sitting face-to-face with you.

Lu Danggui’s face showed an embarrassed yet polite smile.

Before Lu Danggui could answer, Xing Cheng lowered his voice, speaking almost like a rhetorical question: “I once did.”

Lu Danggui hurriedly picked up pen and paper, adjusting his sitting posture, this was the sign a patient was about to begin a self-narrative.

“This time last year, my father, in front of dozens of people in the conference room, gave me a hard slap across the face.”
Xing Cheng fixed his gaze on the sparrow perched on the electric pole outside the window.
“That was the last time I felt anger and powerlessness.”

“Last month, I had a delusional episode and almost died in a car accident.”

Rumors such as “injured while hanging on wires to create a sense of oppression” and “angered upper management of the agency.”

The real reason behind it was his increasingly severe mental illness!

Being a doctor, meeting his nemesis as a patient, and then getting hold of his nemesis’s biggest piece of dirt, how could he not go on a gossip forum to spill it all?

If only he weren’t Xing Cheng’s doctor.
What’s more, he had even signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement…

Thinking of the Non-Disclosure Agreement, the expression on Lu Danggui’s face looked like he had just swallowed a live mosquito.

【If Party B violates any clause of this agreement, they shall make a one-time compensation of thirty-five million yuan to Party A and bear all legal responsibility…】 If the outside world ever learned that Xing Cheng was ill, he would be done for.

Yet this man didn’t worry at all about his privacy being exposed through medical treatment, because everything had been calculated by him in advance!

Xing Cheng was also slightly surprised.

Even Dean Qiu, who had long been renowned in the psychiatric field, had to watch several films before he could deduce the logical chain and motives behind Xing Cheng’s actions.

He hadn’t expected that, with just a casual remark, this Dr. Lu would guess it all.

Seeing the complicated emotions in the little doctor’s eyes, Xing Cheng’s eyelid twitched.

Could this Doctor Lu… actually be his fan?

—

The treatment appeared to be progressing in an orderly fashion when suddenly there was a commotion outside the consultation room.

“Mr. Dashu—”

“The Eldest Young Master is in a consultation right now, could you please…”

During psychiatric consultations, it was generally not allowed for outsiders to make noise or cause interruptions outside the door.

Lu Danggui frowned and was about to get up to check, when there was a loud bang and the consultation room door was forcefully pushed open.

Unable to stop the intruder, the man in black bowed apologetically at the door: “Eldest Young Master, I’m truly sorry. It was Xing Shi’s dereliction of duty, he failed to stop Mr. Dashu.”

“Who told you to come?”

Hearing the bodyguard report the intruder’s name, Xing Cheng didn’t turn his head.

The newcomer was a fashionably dressed, pretty boy who looked about college-aged, with short, punk-styled blue-gray hair, and a face so tender it seemed it could drip water.

The baby-faced boy stepped forward, pulled a few liquor-filled chocolates from his pocket, and stuffed them all into Xing Cheng’s palm.
“Ah Cheng, can’t you rein in your younger brother? My mom’s company is about to be turned into a pot of porridge by him!”

Xing Cheng’s face read: What does that have to do with me?

“Uncle Xun said you were in the hospital, so I came up floor by floor to find you. When I saw Ah Shi and Ah Shiwu at the elevator on this floor, I knew you were here.”

The boy didn’t care at all that there was a doctor in the room. He walked around to the back of the wheelchair, wrapped his arms affectionately around Xing Cheng’s shoulders, and leaned over him, gazing expectantly as if, should Xíng Cheng dare say no, he would howl right there on the spot.

Was this… Xing Cheng’s little lover showing up at the door?

Lu Danggui looked up at the ceiling, pretending he had seen nothing.

“If it weren’t urgent, I wouldn’t have rushed here to find you!”

The boy shouted at Xing Cheng.

Seeing the boy refuse to give up, Xing Cheng called the man in black over and gave him a few short instructions.

After hearing Xing Cheng’s arrangements, the boy slowly quieted down, as if grudgingly satisfied.

“Oh right, after you’re done tonight, are you coming over to my place?” The boy glanced around the room, then lowered his voice, “I got someone from Thailand to find a massage therapist, they said it would be good for your legs.”

Xing Cheng: “Busy.”

“Don’t be like that, come over tonight, we can play something else.”

After serving as a white background board for the two of them for half the day, Lu Danggui felt like his entire worldview had been overturned.

He had known that rich people played wild, but he didn’t know they played this wild.

Wasn’t Xing Cheng still half-paralyzed?
He could still do these kinds of things?

Seeming faintly impatient, Xing Cheng raised his index finger and rubbed his temple: “I’m still hospitalized. Without the doctor’s permission, I can’t go out casually.”

Since when did Eldest Young Master Xing ever listen to the doctor like this?

The boy clearly didn’t believe it.

“Then… why don’t you let this Doctor Lu come with us?”

The boy stood up from in front of the wheelchair, leaned forward to glance at the name tag on Lu Danggui’s chest, and his face lit up with a warm smile: “Since you need the doctor’s permission, if you bring the doctor along, Uncle Xing surely won’t refuse to let you go, right?”

The boy had only tossed out a casual joke, not wanting to give Xing Cheng more excuses.
He hadn’t expected Xing Cheng to lower his eyes, looking as though he were seriously considering it.

After a moment, Xing Cheng spoke lightly: “What does Doctor Lu think?”

Lu Danggui: “…”

He, Xing Cheng, and Xing Cheng’s little lover, three people going to the little lover’s house for a massage?

Was he out of his mind??
