The Fake Daughter Want to Be Villainess - Chapter 62
The director’s ill intentions would be tomorrow’s issue.
Jiang Shu found a towel and covered the camera in the room, then turned to Pei Wang, “Let’s take a shower first.”
They both took showers one after the other, and afterward, Jiang Shu examined the camera again, “Isn’t it still recording sound?”
She fumbled around and skillfully found the button, squatting in front of the camera, she said to the lens, “I’m turning it off now.”
Jiang Shu turned off the camera and, wrapped in a summer quilt, lay down on the bed, “Pei Wang.”
She poked her head out from the cocoon-like quilt, “Aren’t you going to tell me about the system points?”
Jiang Shu reminded him, “Your points suddenly increased by several hundred.”
Pei Wang responded with an “Mm,” having just finished showering, he wore a gray and white bathrobe, his eyelashes damp, and with his light-colored irises, he exuded an artist’s aura of melancholic fragility.
Jiang Shu instinctively stopped drying her hair.
Pei Wang walked over to the sofa bed, explaining, “The points were given by Jiang Tingfeng.”
After he spoke with Father Jiang about the second uncle of the Jiang Family, he kept receiving the system’s point rewards intermittently.
Clearly, Father Jiang had taken action involving Jiang Tingfeng.
At the time, he found the sudden surge in points peculiar and specially called Father Jiang to inquire.
Father Jiang complained to him in anger, “I thought about our brotherly bond, and I let him stay at the company. I didn’t expect he was secretly doing so many underhanded things.”
Manipulating contracts, transferring the company’s funds, poaching the company’s employees—Jiang Tingfeng was like a leech, constantly siphoning off resources.
Father Jiang muttered a few more complaints but then relaxed, joking, “Our Xiao Wang is truly a lucky star; he returned just in time to expose this parasite.”
The later comments were sincere: “Jiang Tingfeng’s little tricks can’t shake the foundation of the Jiang family, but if this drags on for a few more years, it would be bothersome.”
At that time, he also reminded, “It was Shu Shu who told me.”
Father Jiang laughed heartily, “Alright, alright, you two are both my lucky stars.”
After finishing his laugh, Father Jiang continued, “Jiang Tingfeng has a few shell companies in his hands; I’ll clear those out for him in the next two weeks.”
Pei Wang shared this with Jiang Shu, who laughed while curling up in the blanket.
She rolled around on the bed for a couple of times before propping herself up, her hair tousled from rubbing against the blanket.
Jiang Shu supported her chin, astonished, “Why are you arguing with Dad about being a little lucky star?”
She had never thought Pei Wang would engage in this kind of debate, but after a moment’s thought, it didn’t seem too out of place, and was even a bit endearing.
Pei Wang lowered his eyelashes slightly and bent down to pick up the supply bag, “Your credit should belong to you.”
Jiang Shu laughed again.
She hugged the blanket, her eyes forming crescent shapes, “You’re so serious.”
She felt it was a small matter and not worth making a fuss over. However, since Pei Wang shared this with Father Jiang, she felt a vague sense of happiness—
Jiang Shu suddenly raised her eyelashes, “Pei Wang.”
She tilted her head, her cheek resting on the blanket, “Did you intentionally tell me this?”
If it was merely to clarify the source of the points, Pei Wang didn’t need to recount the entire conversation.
By doing so, it seemed he was emphasizing a particular part of the discussion.
But it didn’t appear to be the case.
Pei Wang looked genuinely forthright, not like someone who would have such thoughtful intentions.
Jiang Shu was somewhat conflicted, unable to arrive at a conclusion, when she heard Pei Wang say “Mm.”
He candidly admitted, “I’m fishing for compliments.”
Pei Wang reached out, leaning slightly forward, his eyelashes lifting to reveal his light-colored irises, “Will there be a reward?”
Jiang Shu slapped his palm playfully and pushed his hand away, “No.”
She pouted and complained, “Who wants the title of lucky star?”
Pei Wang chuckled softly.
“Well, fine.” He withdrew his hand, his gaze gently lowered, his eyelashes fluttering lightly, then he raised his gaze again, speaking softly, “Next time, I’ll work harder.”
Jiang Shu instinctively avoided his gaze.
She suddenly thought, maybe she shouldn’t reject Pei Wang.Jiang Shu lowered her head, her damp hair sticking to her face, and she suddenly exclaimed, “Brother.”
She touched her hair and blinked, “I want to blow-dry my hair.”
The resources provided by the Program Team were limited, so Pei Wang thought for a moment, “I’ll go borrow a hairdryer from the host family.”
He stepped outside, and Jiang Shu propped her chin up, thinking a bit awkwardly—
This counts as Pei Wang doing something for her, so she should thank him.
But what should she use as a token of gratitude?
Jiang Shu pondered this until she heard footsteps outside, solidifying her decision.
The knocking sound had already started; Jiang Shu tiptoed over and pressed the doorknob.
Pei Wang was standing outside, holding a hairdryer.
Jiang Shu looked up at him and smiled, “Thank you, Brother.”
She took the hairdryer but didn’t step aside. Instead, she tugged at his sleeve, “Pei Wang.”
Pei Wang naturally bent down, “Hmm?”
He wanted to ask Jiang Shu what was wrong, but before he could speak, he saw the little girl rise onto her tiptoes. Then something damp and soft gently brushed against his chin.
