Jiang Shu was stunned.

She stared blankly at the GIF as it replayed twice before suddenly snapping back to reality and hurriedly closing the GIF.

Her gaze shifted to the comment section with a complex expression.

Most comments were envious of their sibling bond, while also poking fun at their own relationships with their siblings—

@ThankYouForListening: Damn, is there really such a good older brother in this world? When my brother sees me sleeping on the sofa, he just pokes my nose and wakes me up.

@OhYesYesYes: If they weren’t siblings, I’d say this couple looks so perfect together, [cat licking screen.jpg]

Jiang Shu peacefully exited the comment section.

The audience thought they were siblings, but she knew they weren’t; they were just related in name and had no actual blood relationship.

She couldn’t watch the variety show any longer, so Jiang Shu climbed off the sofa, turned off the projector, and messaged her roommate.

[My Shu Shu Yule]: Babe, can I ask you something? I have a friend.

[My Shu Shu Yule]: She has a distant cousin who secretly kissed her while she was asleep. What do you think that cousin meant?

A line of text popped up in WeChat—

Typing…

After a few starts and stops, the other side finally sent a message.

[Today’s Girl to Meet the Mentor for the Last Time]: What cousin-sister stuff?

[Today’s Girl to Meet the Mentor for the Last Time]: Are you talking about Lin Daiyu and Jia Baoyu? [Even the dog shakes its head.jpg]

Jiang Shu poked at her phone screen.

[Your Shu Shu Yule]: Stop messing around, I’m serious.

[Today’s Girl to Meet the Mentor for the Last Time]: I’m serious too.

[Today’s Girl to Meet the Mentor for the Last Time]: Are you talking about the sneak kiss from today’s show preview?”Today’s Girl to Meet the Mentor for the Last Time”: In the main episode, when you were at the amusement park, didn’t Pei Wang kiss you? Why are you suddenly getting nervous about it now?

“My friend” is indeed so unreliable.

Jiang Shu sighed, giving up the last shred of her cover. She decided to just accept the situation.

“Your Shu Shu Yule”: That was just staged filming.

“Today’s Girl to Meet the Mentor for the Last Time”: Maybe the preview was also staged? This program team loves to create buzz.

“Today’s Girl to Meet the Mentor for the Last Time”: Why don’t you wait until tomorrow to watch the main episode and then talk about it?

Jiang Shu thought she had a point.

She forced herself to suppress her chaotic thoughts and made it to the next morning.

Then she stayed by her video app, and as soon as the variety show updated, she clicked on it, speeding through to find the kiss scene.

Jiang Shu watched herself wake up and then fall back asleep, resting her head on Pei Wang’s lap.

Jiang Shu’s eyes widened in shock.

How is that possible? How could she have done something like that!

In disbelief, she stared at the screen and then saw Pei Wang sigh, gently petting her head, and grabbing a cushion from beside him, pulling out a small blanket from inside.

He covered her with the blanket, then leaned down, pinching a corner of the blanket to smooth it out. At that moment, his lips brushed over her forehead—

Jiang Shu sat up straight.

Was that staged or not?

She dragged the progress bar back and repeatedly watched that section several times, but she couldn’t analyze it.

Pei Wang really did seem to be focused on the blanket, but there were no signs of staging for that kiss.Jiang Shu wrestled with this matter for a day, and even as she fell asleep, that scene lingered in her mind.

She lay on Pei Wang’s lap, pretending to sleep with her eyes closed, while Pei Wang leaned down, his lips almost grazing her forehead.

It was at that moment that she opened her eyes, pushed his head away, and accused him, “Did you want to steal a kiss? Or is this just a trick from the Program Team?”

In her dream, Jiang Shu waited for Pei Wang’s response.

His face was clear in her dream; she saw Pei Wang’s Adam’s apple move, and then he chuckled softly, “Silly sister.”

He raised his hand to cup her chin and leaned in for a kiss.

Jiang Shu: “…”

Jiang Shu woke up in shock.

She glanced at the sky outside, which was just beginning to brighten, and sleepily rolled over, burying her face in her pillow.

Her eyelids began to battle again, but just as she closed her eyes, the scene of Pei Wang leaning in for a kiss automatically replayed in her mind.

Jiang Shu’s drowsiness vanished once more.

She wriggled in agony on the bed, wrapping herself in the blanket until she resembled a silkworm cocoon. Then she opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling for a while.

The daylight was gradually brightening.

Jiang Shu rubbed her bangs and picked up her phone to check the time, then struggled to get out of bed.

Today was the day of the program recording, and the Director had set the call time for eight in the morning, with the meeting location being a small town on the outskirts of Jing City. Fearing morning traffic in Jing City, she had set her alarm for six o’clock.

It wasn’t long until six, so she figured she might as well leave early; she might even catch a few more minutes of sleep in the car.

After finishing her morning routine, Jiang Shu wandered around the kitchen.

The housekeeper was already preparing breakfast, but she had risen too early and had no appetite. After surveying the food without desire, she asked the housekeeper to pack one of each dish for her to take in the car.

She set the insulated box aside, grabbed a cushion, and unwrapped the cushion blanket, preparing to cover herself and sleep. However, the image of Pei Wang unpacking the cushion and grabbing the blanket popped into her mind again.

Jiang Shu: “…”

It was all Pei Wang’s fault.

She reclined comfortably against the back of the seat, made a concerted effort to push those images away, and finally fell asleep amidst the start and stop of the car.She was awakened by the driver.

The car had already come to a stop. Jiang Shu rubbed her eyes, opened the car door, and poked her head out to take a look.

This appeared to be the entrance of the small town, where a sturdy willow tree stood. Only a few guests had arrived, and they were all standing under the tree.

Next to the tree was a small stone slab, which was engraved with the name of the town: Maple Leaf Town.

The Director was sitting on this stone, holding a megaphone and gesticulating animatedly, “It’s almost eight o’clock; you all have to arrive right on the dot, don’t you?”

Jiang Shu stepped down while holding the insulated box.

“It’s only seven thirty-five,” she argued, “there’s still plenty of time until eight.”

The Director widened his eyes, “Can’t you round off? Rounding it off means it’s practically eight o’clock, right?”

Jiang Shu squatted down, opened the insulated box, and while retrieving her breakfast, she shook her head, “Rounding off doesn’t mean you can keep carrying over the digits.”

She took out a custard bun and lowered her head to take a bite, “This is elementary school knowledge.”

The Director choked for a moment.

Laughter erupted from the other guests nearby. The Director huffed in exasperation and then turned away, starting to fiddle with his megaphone.

The remaining guests gradually arrived, and as Jiang Shu took the last bite of her bun, she heard the Director ask, “It’s fifty-five; why hasn’t Pei Wang arrived yet?”

He turned to her and inquired, “Jiang Shu, do you know why your brother hasn’t come yet—”

The Director paused for a moment, then suddenly became more relaxed, “Oh, he’s here.”

At that instant, the bun Jiang Shu was eating got lodged in her throat.

She wasn’t quite sure what she was afraid of, but she just didn’t dare to see Pei Wang. After hesitating for a long while, she finally turned around, subtly raised her brows, and glanced in the direction of the newcomer.
