Jiang Shu pondered for a while before finally realizing why the System said Jiang Tingfeng was sowing discord.

She blinked her eyes and asked, “Does my second uncle think I want to inherit Jiang Corporation?”

Jiang Shu didn’t fully understand; she tilted her head in confusion, “Do I really look like someone with such ambitions?”

Pei Wang lowered his brows, holding the spoon and gently stirring his coffee, “Because he wants to himself.”

So he assumed others shared his own thoughts.

The white cat, having finished a new cat treat, lazily lay in Jiang Shu’s lap, purring softly.

Jiang Shu was scratching the white cat’s chin when she widened her eyes in shock and exclaimed, “No way?”

Currently, Jiang Papa held sixty percent of the shares, of which fifty percent was inherited from his mother. The remaining ten percent was what the old Jiang patriarch allocated to him.

Old Master Jiang had three sons, and besides Jiang Papa, who was born to his first wife, the other two were born to his current wife.

When he stepped down from the chairman position, he allocated ten percent of the shares to each son, keeping the rest for himself.

Jiang Shu took a sip of her drink, tilting her head in confusion, “Even if Grandpa gave all the remaining shares to my second uncle, he would only have thirty percent of the shares.”

Which was far less than Jiang Papa’s holdings.

Pei Wang smiled, leaning forward slightly, and brushed the hair away from the young girl’s forehead: “There’s a way, but it’s quite complicated.”

He gently asked, “Would you like to hear about it?”

Jiang Shu bit her straw and quickly shook her head.

She knew nothing about this matter and didn’t want to delve into it, especially since Pei Wang had mentioned it like that—

Jiang Shu gave him a trusting look, “I believe you.”

Pei Wang lowered his eyelashes and took a small sip of his coffee.

The girl’s gaze was filled with trust, and Pei Wang thought, would she help him come up with a good reason if he crossed a line a little more?

He placed his cup back on the tray with a quiet sound.

The white cat sprawled on Jiang Shu’s lap lifted its eyes lazily, glimpsed at the table, then closed its eyes again to take a nap.

While sipping her drink, Jiang Shu chatted casually with Pei Wang, “Aren’t there only a few episodes left in the program?”

Pei Wang recalled, “The contract was for five episodes.”

Two episodes had already been recorded, and the response had been relatively enthusiastic. Jiang Shu, gripping the cup’s heat shield, asked curiously, “What do you think of this program?”

Before Pei Wang could respond, Jiang Shu began analyzing herself, “The Q&A on the first day was meant to measure how much old feelings and understanding the guests still had for each other.”

She moved the pastries closer to herself and picked up a fork to eat.

The pastry was a small mousse cake topped with a rainbow design, with a layer of mango in the middle.

Jiang Shu took several bites and then, while scraping the fork with her teeth, continued, “The fishing village in the afternoon and the accommodation in the evening were just to increase interaction between both sides, and the bungee jumping the next day—”

She paused, her expression showing hesitation, clearly unable to grasp the director’s intention right away.

“It’s to see if the guests will care for each other,” Pei Wang said gently.

He raised a hand, pulled out a tissue, and offered it to Jiang Shu, “You’ve got some on your face.”

How could mousse get on her face?

Jiang Shu suspiciously accepted the tissue, glanced at her phone screen for a moment, and then frowned, “Where is it?”

She suspected that Pei Wang was teasing her.”That’s not mousse.” Pei Wang raised his eyelashes, extending his hand, and lightly pointed forward with his fingertip—

Jiang Shu’s eyelids fluttered, and she leaned back suddenly.

Then she saw Pei Wang’s hand stop far away from her.

Pei Wang chuckled softly, “What are you afraid of?”

He slowly retracted his hand and, as an example, gently tapped his own face: “It’s about two centimeters above the left side of your nose and above the corner of your lip.”

Pei Wang continued, “It’s just a little bit of mango jam.”

Jiang Shu instinctively looked at the spot Pei Wang was indicating.

Then she noticed a tiny mole under his eyelid.

It was very faint and not very noticeable; she had never paid attention to it before. But its placement was quite charming, accentuating Pei Wang’s captivating peach blossom eyes, adding a touch of allure.

Jiang Shu quickly averted her gaze.

She grabbed a tissue, fumbled around her face to wipe it twice, and awkwardly smiled, “Oh, I see.”

Jiang Shu placed the tissue on the table, lowered her head, and silently continued eating her mousse.

After taking a few bites, she found it a bit too sweet and looked up to reach for her drink. As she raised her gaze, she accidentally landed on a tiny mole just to the right of Pei Wang’s Adam’s apple.

Pei Wang seemed to be sipping his coffee, and his Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, making that small mole move as well.

Jiang Shu instinctively tightened her grip on her drink.

She brought the drink closer to her and gulped down a couple of sips, then lowered her head, her eyelashes not daring to rise, murmuring, “Shall we go?”

It was too strange; she couldn’t stay in this coffee shop any longer.

Jiang Shu gave herself an excuse: “I have to show the contract to someone else.”

Pei Wang cast a light glance at her.

He didn’t argue, raised his hand to grab the keys from the table, saying, “I’ll take you back.”

“No need.” Jiang Shu stopped him, “It’s very close to the company; I can walk back on my own.”

She felt a bit uneasy about Pei Wang’s sense of responsibility and was already thinking about what to do if he insisted on accompanying her when she heard his voice say, “Alright.”

He reminded her, “Be careful on the way.”

Jiang Shu, bewildered, held her drink and slowly left the coffee shop.

If Pei Wang were to accompany her, she would feel awkward just thinking about it. But if he really didn’t, she felt a bit wronged.

Jiang Shu bit her lip.

She walked along the pedestrian street for a while, gradually slowing down, until she simply sat down on a bench by the roadside.

She took out her phone, wanting to send a WeChat message to her roommate to share her strange feelings from today. However, after typing for a long time, Jiang Shu hesitated for a while and deleted the entire message she had written.

It seemed that there was really nothing to say.

It was just that Pei Wang, based on reality, casually analyzed their actual situation with her—

They were neither on the same household registration nor had any blood relation, and legally speaking, there was no brother-sister relationship at all.

Any notion she had of being unable to move on from it.

Clearly, Pei Wang was still treating her with the attitude of a younger sister, but for some reason, when she looked at him now, she could no longer view him as an older brother and calmly accept his care.

Jiang Shu pursed her lips in guilt.

The author has something to say:

Pei Wang, the scumbag who makes women feel guilty.
