The Fake Daughter Want to Be Villainess - Chapter 42
It’s Peach Blossom.
Pei Wang’s Peach Blossom!
Jiang Shu quietly stood in place, straining to listen to what would happen next, but Lin Yuan had already quickly reacted, nervously coughing to signal her.
This was a clear hint.
Pei Wang glanced towards the door; the office was divided into an inner and outer room, so he could not see the visitor, but he could roughly guess—
The person who could be personally greeted by Lin Yuan and brought to the President’s Office must definitely be a representative from the negotiation team that had come today.
Pei Wang said gently, “Please come in.”
Then he turned back, glanced at the beautifully wrapped breakfast on the table, and looked at the secretary in front of him, casually saying, “You seem a bit unfamiliar.”
Pei Wang asked, “Are you a new intern?”
The new secretary felt a secret excitement. She nodded, wanting to introduce herself, but before she could speak, Pei Wang continued, “Who brought you?”
Generally, new interns would be assigned an experienced employee to guide them for a while.
The new secretary mentioned a name, and Pei Wang raised his hand to indicate, “Alright, you can go out now.”
He smiled, “By the way, have Song Jun Neng come over.”
Song Jun Neng was the person responsible for familiarizing this new secretary with the job.
The new secretary didn’t think much of it; she assumed Pei Wang wanted to compliment her or possibly reassign her position, and she happily went out to call for him.
Song Jun Neng entered the room with Lin Yuan and Jiang Shu.
Pei Wang kept his head down, handling documents, and didn’t notice the arrival of a few people.
He didn’t even look up, just reminded, “Close the door.”
Jiang Shu blinked, raised her hand, and closed the door.
The sounds from outside the office were suddenly cut off, and Pei Wang flipped another page of the document: “You don’t have to bring that new person anymore; go notify Human Resources, she didn’t pass the assessment.”
Pei Wang pushed that breakfast aside: “Help me throw it in the trash can.”
The voice of the new secretary just now wasn’t quiet, and the other secretaries waiting outside had all heard her.
Song Jun Neng lowered his head in response, then took the initiative to take responsibility: “It was me who called her in. The Public Relations Department contacted me, so I let her come in to deliver some documents first.”
Pei Wang finally looked up at him.
He moved his lips as if about to say something, but out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Lin Yuan and Jiang Shu walking over.
Pei Wang’s voice involuntarily softened, and his expression showed a hint of surprise: “Shu Shu?”
Jiang Shu was dressed very formally today, wearing a well-tailored suit with a high ponytail, yet even so, she still could not shake off her youthful innocence, looking quite adorable.
Jiang Shu walked over and casually sat on the sofa, resting her chin on her hand: “It’s me.”
Tilting her head, she playfully asked, “What’s wrong? Don’t you welcome me coming to discuss collaboration with you?”
Pei Wang smiled: “How could that be?”
He glanced at Song Jun Neng and Lin Yuan, and Song Jun Neng very perceptively left the office and closed the door.
Pei Wang then turned his gaze back to Lin Yuan.Lin Yuan exaggeratedly raised his hand, saying, “No way, no way, President Pei, are you really burning the bridge after crossing it? It was I who brought her in—”
He met Jiang Shu’s puzzled gaze and fell silent, shaking his head as he said, “Forget it.”
He shook his head again, “You two can discuss the contract; I have other matters in the lab, so I’ll be leaving now.”
Lin Yuan also left the office, and Jiang Shu glanced at the door that had closed again before turning to Pei Wang. “Did you fire her?”
“Not a firing,” Pei Wang corrected. “It’s that she didn’t pass the probation.”
Jiang Shu blinked. “That’s pretty much the same thing.”
She felt a bit regretful. “I thought you seemed quite pleasant towards her, so I thought—”
“Thought what?” Pei Wang stood up from his desk and walked over to Jiang Shu.
He sat down beside her and explained, “She isn’t worth my anger.”
“The mistakes of employees should be handled by their direct supervisor. Besides, she is about to leave the company, so it’s best to maintain some dignity for both sides.”
Jiang Shu fell silent, tilting her head to look at Pei Wang for a moment before frowning, “Did Dad tell you something?”
She speculated, “Did he ask you to teach me how to manage subordinates?”
Pei Wang chuckled softly. “It was an unexpected situation, not something Dad instructed.” He blinked gently, as if to fan himself, “And didn’t you hear?”
Jiang Shu was confused. “Hear what?”
“The system’s prompt sound.” Pei Wang pointed to his temple. “It just notified me that the slap-in-the-face task was completed and awarded me twenty points.”
Jiang Shu: “?”
Jiang Shu was furious. “Why does this system treat people differently? Why am I only worth ten points?”
She bared her teeth at Pei Wang, making an extremely fierce expression. “Am I not vicious enough?”
Pei Wang pinched her wildly flailing fingers, chuckling softly.
With that, Jiang Shu started to feel embarrassed; she withdrew her hand and cleared her throat, changing the topic. “So, have you not had breakfast yet?”
She looked up nearby shops. “Let me treat you to breakfast.”
Jiang Shu found a place that was close by and had a decent reputation, showing it to Pei Wang. “How about this one?”
It was a Cantonese Morning Tea restaurant, offering a variety of dim sum that were not too large in portion but beautifully presented.
Jiang Shu ate two shrimp dumplings and then pushed the plate aside, calling out, “Brother.”
She rested her chin on her hands, looking at Pei Wang with bright eyes. “Shall we talk about the contract?”
Pei Wang was eating Glutinous Rice Chicken.
He raised his eyelashes in surprise. “Talk about it now?”
Jiang Shu blinked. “Didn’t you say that business is discussed over meals?” She innocently asked, “Is breakfast not considered a meal?”
Pei Wang chuckled. “It is.”
He set down his Glutinous Rice Chicken and asked gently, “How does Shu Shu want to discuss it? What profit share are you considering?”
This had already been discussed earlier, and Jiang Shu smoothly stated her terms: “Before recovering the investment, I ask for a 50-50 split, after which it will be an 80-20 split.”
Jiang Shu tilting her head, asked, “Is that okay?”
A few strands of hair fell over her face, and Pei Wang reached out to tuck them behind her ear, softly asking, “Is there no range for negotiation?”
Jiang Shu exclaimed, looking at him with a pitiful expression. “Are you still going to haggle?”
Pei Wang smiled. “No haggling.”
He withdrew his hand and said gently, “You can increase the price a bit. The company has a draft contract you can take a look at to see if it meets your expectations.”
Having only eaten a small portion of the morning tea, Jiang Shu called the waiter to pack the leftovers. “You can take these back for your secretaries.”
The portions here were quite small, mostly dim sums, which also make nice snacks.
She hesitated for a moment. “They won’t mind, will they?”
“They won’t.” Pei Wang helped her with the packing and casually asked, “What did you think of the secretary I fired today?”
“Uh?” Jiang Shu took the takeout box from the waiter, thought for a moment, and replied, “She’s quite reckless.”
She wanted to add a couple more comments, but Pei Wang already chuckled softly, with a tone of slight helplessness. “Yes.”
He reached out his hand towards Jiang Shu. “Shu Shu.”
Jiang Shu instinctively hooked the bag onto Pei Wang’s fingers.
Pei Wang picked up the bag and took Jiang Shu back to the Jinghua building. As they walked, Jiang Shu looked around. “There’s even a hospital here.”
Jiang Shu casually said, “I heard from Lin Yuan that you spend your afternoons at the hospital with Auntie.”
Pei Wang replied affirmatively, as if he was struck by a sudden thought, he turned his head and softly asked, “Do you want to go with me this afternoon?”
