The Fake Daughter Want to Be Villainess - Chapter 38
Pei Wang took Jiang Shu’s phone.
The game had already been downloaded, and Jiang Shu had even registered an account. She was on the login page, ready to enter the game with just one more tap.
Jiang Shu had sat down on the sofa, hugging a cushion to her chest, and was seriously staring at the projector, her gaze determinedly fixed, not glancing to the side, as she asked, “Is it starting? Is it starting?”
Pei Wang connected the phone to the Bluetooth speaker next to the projector, then leisurely tapped the screen: “It’s starting.”
A chilling piece of music suddenly blared, then quickly fell silent, leaving the screen shrouded in darkness.
“Tick-tock—”
The sound of water droplets hitting the ground suddenly echoed—one drop, two drops…
The screen lit up a little, a light shining down from the center, illuminating what was dripping.
It was blood.
Crimson, fresh blood.
Jiang Shu held her breath. She saw the light brighten a bit more, reflecting a bright white. It was a knife, its blade stained with blood, the droplets still continuously falling.
“Tick-tock.”
“Tick-tock.”
Two more drops broke the silence, and then the screen abruptly brightened, revealing an extraordinarily beautiful face.
Her pale skin had a bluish tint, and her blood-red lips clasped the knife handle. The blade split half her face, embedding into the bone, as blood continued to flow from the wound.
Then she grinned, a sinister laugh escaping her throat.
Jiang Shu tightly clutched the cushion, quickly burying her head into it. She used the pillow to block her view and waited for a while, only moving it aside quietly once the laughter had stopped, squinting at the projector.
On the projector, the woman pulled the knife from her face, revealing a triumphant smile: “I knew you would come back.”
The blade suddenly pressed against the screen, and blood splattered out, spattering across a small part of the display.
It felt as if the knife had struck her; Jiang Shu instinctively covered her neck.
She quietly scooted closer to Pei Wang, hoping to ease her nerves, just as the screen turned black and a line of white text appeared.
[This is your first death]
The white text quickly faded, and the screen once again displayed images; the game had officially begun.
It was clearly nighttime, the lighting dim, with just a bit of moonlight streaming down.Jiang Shu stared at the screen for quite a while before she vaguely realized that this was a classroom.
Their character was lying on the ground.
It was a girl with short hair, looking around sixteen or seventeen years old, dressed in a school uniform, with a school badge pinned to her left chest.
She staggered to her feet and examined her surroundings, her pupils suddenly narrowing: “This is—”
The girl muttered to herself, “Did it restart?”
A glimmer of light sparked in her eyes as her hands clenched into fists, trembling slightly: “I can definitely escape! Right, there are weapons in the classroom’s bookshelf—”
Pei Wang maneuvered the character over to the bookshelf, and the character automatically raised her hand to pull open the cabinet door.
Suddenly, a head rolled down and landed on the girl’s arm.
It was a severed head, half of the scalp gnawed away, with bulging eyes that looked extremely gruesome.
The game gave a close-up of the head, and Jiang Shu screamed, quickly raising the cushion and shrinking back a bit.
She had already been sitting quite close to Pei Wang, and now, with this movement, she was almost leaning against him.
Pei Wang tapped the phone screen, and in the game, the girl kicked aside the head and looked up at the bookshelf.
There were no books in the shelf; instead, it was filled with glass jars, containing formaldehyde and various organs floating within.
The young girl leaned a bit closer to him: “Brother.”
She started asking him in a petulant tone, “Can I lean against you?”
Pei Wang smiled.
His gaze roamed over the phone screen for a moment, then he tapped one of the glass jars with his fingertip. The game character raised her hand again to take that jar and smashed it violently on the ground.
The sound of shattering glass echoed from the speaker. Pei Wang turned his head and reached out to Jiang Shu: “Sure.”
He gently asked, “Do you want to grab it?”
Jiang Shu felt it wasn’t quite appropriate. She hesitated, shook her head, and looked up to continue watching the plot unfold, when she saw a severed hand rolling out from the shattered jar, landing at the girl’s feet.
The girl paid no mind to the severed hand on the ground.
She kept checking the jars in the bookshelf, trying to find that weapon.
One jar after another shattered, formaldehyde splashing everywhere, and the preserved organs scattered across the floor.
Finally, the girl found what she was looking for among the jars; she grabbed something like a wooden stick and was ready to leave the classroom. But just as she lifted her foot, she sensed something pulling at her ankle.
The girl looked down in terror.
It was the severed hand. Those severed limbs had somehow patched themselves together, forming a terrifying monster!
Jiang Shu couldn’t help it and tightly hugged Pei Wang’s arm, shrinking closer to his side.
Pei Wang lightly furrowed his brows.
.
This game was quite lengthy, and they only finished the first level by lunchtime.
Reluctantly putting away her phone, Jiang Shu followed Pei Wang to lunch. Afterward, she leaned on the table, eagerly looking at Pei Wang: “Are you going to take a nap?”
She still wanted to watch him play.
Pei Wang didn’t usually take naps; he replied and took Jiang Shu’s phone, opening the game.
He moved to the sofa, and Jiang Shu consciously sat next to him, hugging a cushion and anxiously watching the projector.
The girl had escaped from the school, but she more desperately realized that the entire city had devolved into a Ghost City. She lingered at the school gate for a moment, then muttered to herself, “The school is relatively safe now.”
She looked at the screen, her expression conflicted: “Should I go back, or leave the city to explore a bit more?”
Options popped up on the screen, and Jiang Shu poked Pei Wang’s arm: “Leave the city, leave the city.”
She tilted her head: “Can it be saved here?”
She wanted to try various storylines.
Pei Wang saved the game, then clicked the button to leave the city.
On the screen, the girl clenched her fists: “Let’s leave the city. Although the school is temporarily safe, we can’t be complacent.”
She surveyed her surroundings: “This is the City Center, far from the urban edge. Should I look for a car first?”
It was a Ghost City, and not a single living person was in sight; cars were carelessly parked by the roadside.
Pei Wang maneuvered the character towards the nearest vehicle and tried to pull the car door.
The door opened easily, the ignition key was in the car, and the car owner—
The car owner was sitting in the driver’s seat, turning its head to reveal a bloody, mangled face.
Jiang Shu suddenly clutched the cushion tightly, startled by a jarring ring coming from beside her, nearly jumping off the sofa. It wasn’t until Pei Wang paused the game that she realized it was his phone ringing.
Pei Wang looked at her apologetically: “Let me take this call.”
Jiang Shu nodded, clutching the cushion, yawning slowly in response: “Okay.”
The call was from Lin Yuan; he had been negotiating with several medical device companies and had finally secured a contract, unable to resist bragging to Pei Wang.
After listening to Lin Yuan’s boasting for a while, just as Pei Wang was about to discuss future development plans with him, he felt something heavy resting on his arm.
He paused for a moment, then looked down at his arm.
Jiang Shu had fallen asleep at some point; she had tilted her body and was leaning against him, twisted and turned into a strange position as she slept.
Pei Wang chuckled softly, lowering his voice to Lin Yuan: “Wait a moment.”
He set the phone aside, adjusting his posture to create space for her to lie flat. But as soon as he moved slightly, Jiang Shu suddenly opened her eyes, panic etched on her face as she grabbed his arm: “Brother—”
Pei Wang froze. He raised his hand to gently pat Jiang Shu’s back, whispering soothingly, “It’s okay, Shu Shu, don’t be afraid.”
Jiang Shu closed her eyes again, instinctively leaning closer to Pei Wang, and then she rested her head on his lap.
Pei Wang let out a quiet sigh.
He gently stroked the top of Jiang Shu’s fluffy hair, took a cushion from beside them, pulled out a small blanket from inside it, and covered Jiang Shu with it. Then, he lowered his head and pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Author’s note:
I suddenly wanted to write a story about playing a horror infinite game and then finding myself inside the game’s story—
“The bad news is I’ve ended up in an infinite game; the good news is that I’ve played this game before.”
