The live broadcast used a pre-set camera.

Jiang Shu froze, her eyes widened in panic as she looked at the camera. She hurried over, squatting in front of it to study it for a moment.

Pei Wang also approached and squatted beside her. “What’s wrong?”

Jiang Shu showed him the message from the Director and frowned, whispering, “How do we turn this off?”

There were many buttons on the camera, and the lower left side had a small touch screen; she had no idea which part she should touch.

Pei Wang studied it for a moment and then pressed his fingertip on a round button. “This looks like a power button.”

He turned his head to look at Jiang Shu. “Should we turn it off forcibly?”

Jiang Shu had no objections. Pei Wang forcibly shut down the camera and then said apologetically, “It’s my fault for forgetting to check the camera.”

Jiang Shu shook her head. “It’s not your fault; who would expect the staff to forget to turn off the broadcast and the mic?”

She felt frustrated. “Is this going to trend?”

She opened Weibo and, as expected, saw the entries for herself and Pei Wang trending—

#Pei Wang and Jiang Shu Forgot to Turn Off the Mic

#Is this something I can listen to for free?

Jiang Shu clicked into the trending entry, feeling complicated.

@Love Pei General’s 10,086th Day: Whoa, whoa, did the program team forget to turn off the broadcast? What did I just hear? Shu Cub is about to help Xiao Pei with his medication! [Video]

The video contained edited clips from the live broadcast room; the dark screen displayed a flurry of farewell comments, and soon someone realized that the broadcast hadn’t been turned off, followed immediately by her voice.

Jiang Shu comfortably leaned back in her chair, opening the comments section.

[Comment 1]: Is this really happening?! Why did I leave the live room as soon as it ended? Major mistake! I’m heading back right now.

[Comment 2]: Xiao Jiang and Xiao Pei really don’t treat us as outsiders; can you please turn on the camera too, hee hee hee?

[Comment 3]: Wait, isn’t anyone contacting Jiang Shu or Pei Wang??? What’s the program team doing??? First, there was a problem with the task that caused an accident, and now they forgot to turn off the live broadcast. It’s hard to believe this isn’t intentional.

[Comment 4]: I’m shipping this! I’m shipping this! To those who said Xiao Jiang and Xiao Pei are only acting harmonious in front of the camera while being really distant, come out quickly!”Look at how they interact when there are no cameras! If they weren’t close, who would help you apply your medication?”

Reminded by the comments, Jiang Shu suddenly realized, “I can’t help you with your medication.”

After all, she and Pei Wang were not blood relatives and didn’t grow up together, so it felt a bit inappropriate to help him apply his medicine. Moreover, they were not the only ones in the hotel—

Jiang Shu shook her phone. “I’ll call a staff member for you.”

The staff also stayed in this hotel, but they were not on the same floor; instead, they were in a double room on a lower level.

Jiang Shu opened the WeChat group and called for a male staff member.

The staff member arrived fairly quickly. Pei Wang glanced at Jiang Shu with some helplessness, then stood up and led the staff member into the main bedroom.

He closed the door, and the staff member followed in. “Where’s your medicine?”

He spotted the medicine on the desk and was about to go over to get it when Pei Wang raised his hand to press down on the bag. “Could you please come over here?”

He apologized, saying, “But I don’t really like others touching me; I can apply the medicine myself.”

Pei Wang took the bag of medicine into the bathroom.

The staff member looked puzzled at the closed bathroom door.

Didn’t Jiang Shu say that Pei Wang couldn’t apply the medicine by himself, which was why he was called?

He stood in the room, feeling confused, until Pei Wang came out after finishing applying the medicine, and he hesitantly asked, “If there’s nothing else, can I leave now?”

Pei Wang replied, and he took a drink from the side cabinet and handed it to the staff member. “Thank you for coming over.”

He smiled gently and added, “If Jiang Shu asks you, could you please cover for me and say you applied the medicine for me, okay?”

The staff member looked at him strangely but reluctantly agreed, “Alright.”

He pushed open the door and saw Jiang Shu sitting on the sofa. He nodded at her. “The medicine has been applied.”

Jiang Shu looked inside the room with concern.

Pei Wang was standing by the door, calmly looking at her. He had unbuttoned one more button of his pajamas than before entering the room, indicating that he had indeed applied some medicine.

Jiang Shu felt relieved. She turned back and called the staff member, “We forcibly shut down the camera.”

She pointed to the camera set up in the living room. “You might need to adjust it.”

The staff member walked over and reconfigured the camera, then said, “It will automatically turn on for filming tomorrow morning.”

After the staff member left the room, Jiang Shu tilted her head to glance at Pei Wang and then walked closer to him.

She pointed at Pei Wang’s collar from a distance and reminded him, “Your buttons are not fastened properly.”

Pei Wang chuckled. “It’s not that they’re not fastened properly.”

He lowered his head, slightly furrowing his brows, and assumed a troubled expression. “Shu Shu, it’s summer now.”

He didn’t wait for Jiang Shu’s reply, then wondered, “Shu Shu?”

Jiang Shu was lost in thought about something else.

She had just heard the two notification sounds in her mind, one announcing the completion of the task related to slapping the face of the Vicious Supporting Female Character, and the other indicating that the task was completed.

The appearance of these two notification sounds caused her to swallow back what she had intended to say earlier.

Jiang Shu couldn’t help but reflect on her actions after the landslide.

It was her fault that they had both fallen into danger; Pei Wang had gotten injured while trying to protect her. Coupled with the issues of adoption and disappearance, her feelings of guilt reached their peak.

She found herself wanting to care for Pei Wang in various ways to alleviate her guilt, but—

Did Pei Wang really need her concern? Did he need her to continue playing the role of a Vicious Supporting Female Character?Jiang Shu instinctively moved a bit closer and quietly said, “Brother.”

She didn’t realize that there was a hint of grievance in her tone. Grabbing Pei Wang’s sleeve, she lowered her voice and asked, “Do you want me to be nicer to you or meaner?”

Pei Wang was initially taken aback.

He found Jiang Shu’s question a bit strange, so he instinctively replied, “What do you mean by nice and mean?”

The little girl lifted her eyelashes and secretly stole a glance at him before releasing his sleeve and gesturing, “Just the literal meaning.”

Jiang Shu tilted her head, feeling that her explanation wasn’t clear enough, but she didn’t want to drop too obvious hints—

Pei Wang probably wouldn’t want his System’s voice to be heard by others.

So, she bit her lip and whispered, “I mean… a good person or a bad person. Do you want me to be a good person or a bad person?”

Pei Wang lowered his head.

He sensed something strange in Jiang Shu’s words. He didn’t think she should be asking such questions; Father Jiang and Mother Jiang had raised her well, and nothing about her was related to being “bad.”

Moreover, she was asking about his attitude—

Did he need her to be a bad person?

Pei Wang lightly trembled his eyelashes. He slightly crouched down and looked Jiang Shu in the eye, saying, “Shu Shu.”

He tentatively asked, “Do you know something?”

He tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and whispered, “Don’t be afraid.” He softened his voice, adding a hint of temptation, “Tell Brother.”
