The live broadcast was ultimately scheduled for nine in the evening.

The Program Team posted the broadcast link on their official Weibo, and the staff followed Jiang Shu and Pei Wang into their hotel room to set up the recording equipment in the living room.

The hotel room was a suite with a master bedroom and a smaller bedroom. The master bedroom had an additional large floor-to-ceiling window compared to the smaller one.

Jiang Shu inspected both rooms and then instinctively wheeled her suitcase into the smaller bedroom. Leaning on the door frame, she looked at Pei Wang, “I’ll take this room.”

She settled her things, then wandered around the living room and finally found a hotel room service card on the coffee table.

After scanning the QR Code with her phone, she knocked on the door of the master bedroom and loudly inquired, “Pei Wang, what do you want for dinner?”

There was no response from inside. Jiang Shu furrowed her brow in suspicion and knocked harder, raising her voice, “Pei Wang—”

Still no reaction, Jiang Shu grew worried, fearing that Pei Wang might have some undiagnosed condition from the hospital. She reached for her phone to call him.

Before she could dial, the door opened.

Pei Wang stood inside, his upper body half wrapped in a bandage, holding a roll of bandage in one hand. His bathrobe was loosely tied, clearly put on in haste.

Jiang Shu froze for a moment, her eyes widening in shock as she looked at Pei Wang, “You took a bath?”

She frowned, “You’re not supposed to let your wounds get wet.”

“I know,” Pei Wang replied softly, lowering his gaze as his voice muted, “but I was covered in too much mud and dirt.”

He paused, explaining, “I used the bathtub, kept my back dry.”

Jiang Shu blinked rapidly.

She had blacked out due to hypothermia, and, to quickly restore her body temperature, the nurse had changed her into dry clothes and wiped her down, making her completely overlook Pei Wang’s need for a shower.

Jiang Shu apologized guiltily, “I’m sorry, I forgot about that.”

“You should finish wrapping the bandage,” she said as she closed the master bedroom door.

Jiang Shu sat on the sofa in the living room, propping her head on her hand, waiting for Pei Wang to emerge.

Pei Wang moved swiftly; she didn’t have to wait long before she heard the door open. Jiang Shu raised her phone again, asking, “What would you like for dinner?”

She went through the menu provided by the hotel and then turned her head to look at him, “Or is there something else you’d prefer?”

Pei Wang was in his pajamas. He was wrapped in bandages, and the only loose clothes he had brought were this set. He walked to the back of the sofa, placing his hand on the sofa back near Jiang Shu’s side, “Just the same as what you’re having.”

Jiang Shu added another serving of seafood porridge and crab roe buns, then ordered two plates of stir-fried greens and a fruit platter.

They must have prepared the dishes beforehand because, after submitting the order, the food was delivered in a matter of minutes.

The seafood porridge and crab roe buns were decent, but the stir-fried greens were rather disappointing.

Driven by a strong resolve for balanced nutrition, Jiang Shu took several bites before putting down her chopsticks.

She discreetly pushed some of the stir-fried greens towards Pei Wang, then stood up, announcing, “I’m done.”

Jiang Shu walked to her room door, “The live broadcast is coming up soon, I’ll go take a shower too.”

She planned to greet her fans with the utmost decorum—freshly washed hair!

By the time Jiang Shu emerged from her shower, it was almost time for the live broadcast. At some point, the staff from the Program Team arrived and set up a projector, where comments were streaming in continuously.

【They’re here, they’re here!】

【Oh, I’m so relieved that Pei and Jiang are live streaming, but I’m still worried about the two of them.】

【When will it start? When will it start? Could we get a little surprise and start early?】

Even though it wasn’t yet time, the live stream room was opened in advance. Fans, worried about potential lag once the broadcast officially started, joined early.

A staff member noticed her, “Ms. Jiang!”

He quickly waved her over, “There’s a few minutes left before the live stream begins. Please come and check the camera shot.”

Jiang Shu walked over in front of the sofa, sitting next to Pei Wang, and tilted her head towards the staff, “Does this work for the camera?”

The staff directed her to adjust her position slightly and then nodded, “Alright! Perfect!”

Checking the time, he continued, “It’s almost time. During the stream, the two of you can briefly talk about the accident and then answer a few questions from the comments.”

Seeing both of them nod in agreement, the staff confirmed, “Shall I start the live stream?”

The projector lit up, and Jiang Shu saw herself sitting upright, only for her face to be quickly covered by a flurry of comments.

【Oh my! It’s live, it’s live! She looks okay, I’m so relieved! Finally, I can rest easy, mom can finally relax!】

【Pei is wearing pajamas! Pajamas! He really treats us like family! Hehehe, look at those collarbones! Oh my!!!】

【Pei is wearing pajamas???? Pei, who is always so well-mannered, how could he be dressed like this on camera for no reason??? Is he injured?】

Pei Wang noticed this comment, “I sustained some minor injuries.”

A flood of question marks filled the comments, followed by an endless stream of inquiries about the specifics of his injury.”They are just some abrasions on the back.” Pei Wang lifted his hand to adjust his collar, then raised his brows and smiled slightly, “I have to treat everyone as outsiders, so I won’t be showing the wounds.”

【That’s good to hear, remember to buy some scar-removing cream, Mr. Pei.】

【Darn, can’t we see the rare battle-damaged version of our dear Pei? My heart aches! How can my darling treat me as an outsider?】

【So who is considered an insider??? Is it Xiao Jiang? Pei, be honest! Has Xiao Jiang seen your wounds already?】

【Jiang Shu and Pei Wang are like siblings, isn’t that what counts as insiders??? Wait, which insider are you referring to????】

【What’s the situation with Xiao Jiang? What’s the cause of the landslide??? Has the Program Team made any statements? Have they apologized? Will there be compensation?】

Jiang Shu noticed this comment, “I wasn’t injured.”

The mild hypothermia from the heavy rain was not worth mentioning, so Jiang Shu naturally bypassed this minor injury.

She propped her chin with her hand, “The landslide was an accident. Maybe the rocks had already loosened, and combined with the heavy rain, it caused the landslide.”

This was newly acquired knowledge from her recent online search!

【What about compensation? Compensation? Compensation?】

Jiang Shu tilted her head a bit, “As for compensation, Pei Wang said he’d handle the negotiations.” She turned to Pei Wang, “Right, brother?”

Pei Wang glanced at her, responding softly, “Yes.”

Jiang Shu cradled her chin, “Alright, we’ve pretty much covered the landslide topic—”

【???? Don’t tell me you’re ending the stream now? Wahhh precious Shu Shu, let mommy see more of you】

Jiang Shu watched as the barrage of comments flooded the screen, frowned slightly, hesitated, and tentatively suggested, “Shall we chat about something else then?”

She looked toward Pei Wang, leaned closer, and asked in a low voice, “Are you tired? We can stop the stream if you are.”

Pei Wang ruffled her fluffy hair, lowering his voice as well, “I’m not.”

His tone was gentle, carrying a hint of helplessness, “I’m not as fragile as you think, Shu Shu.”

【Darn it!!!】What are Shu Shu and Pei Wang whispering about??? Is there something my valuable membership doesn’t allow me to hear?

【Got the whispering, got the head pat, Xiao Pei looks so indulgent!】

【Speaking of which, Xiao Jiang and Xiao Pei seem pretty close, even closer than me and my brother. How did they end up joining this show?】

【Oh right, right, why do they have different surnames? What was that situation mentioned in the first episode about them getting lost?】

Jiang Shu skimmed over some odd comments and picked an easy one to answer: “How did we end up on this show?”

“That’s a long story, but I can make it short.” She blinked playfully, “We were both tricked into it by my parents.”

【Hahaha, for some reason, I really want to hear the full story of how you got tricked.】

【Jiang Shu: Pei Wang and I get along great. Father Jiang and Mother Jiang: No, you don’t.】

【Aww, it seems like their family environment is so nice, and the parents sound adorable too.】

【So why is Pei Wang’s last name Pei? Why is Pei Wang’s last name Pei? Why is Pei Wang’s last name Pei?】

Jiang Shu glanced at the comments, choosing to ignore the ones questioning Pei Wang’s surname—

That’s Pei Wang’s private matter, and she can’t decide on his behalf to reveal these details.

Jiang Shu answered a few trivial questions, then rubbed her eyes and couldn’t help but yawn.

【Shu Shu looks sleepy, even her yawn is adorable, with her tiny nose scrunching up.】

【If you’re tired, go to sleep. We’ve talked for a long time, and I’m super satisfied.】

【Xiao Pei and Xiao Jiang were both shocked today, take care, we’re done watching, go rest.】

Jiang Shu was indeed a bit tired. She looked at a few more comments, then turned her head to glance at Pei Wang and quietly said, “Then we’re signing off now.”

They bid farewell to the live stream fans, and the staff fiddled with the phone, then removed it and handed it to Pei Wang. “Here’s your phone.”

The staff collected the stand and left the room. Jiang Shu stretched and said, “I’m heading back to my room.”

She entered her bedroom, ready to close the door, when she suddenly remembered something and poked her head out, “Pei Wang, did you apply your medication today?”

Pei Wang had extensive abrasions, and given the rocky ground at the time, there were also a few deep wounds. The doctor had prescribed some ointments to aid healing.

Pei Wang turned his head towards her, “No.” He slightly furrowed his brow, showing a trace of distress, “The injuries are on my back; I can’t apply the ointment myself.”

Jiang Shu frowned, “Then what should we do?”

Pei Wang chuckled softly, glanced lightly at Jiang Shu, then looked away, speaking reassuringly, “It’s alright. The wounds will heal on their own, even without the ointment.”

Jiang Shu was anxious, “That won’t do!”

After being briefly glanced at by Pei Wang, she suddenly realized, “You can’t reach your back, but I can apply the medication for you.”

Seeing Pei Wang offered no objection, she went to the counter to get the medication. As she was reviewing the instructions, her phone suddenly buzzed with an urgent message from the Program Team.

【Director Wang】: The staff just made a mistake—when ending the stream, they only turned off the camera, but forgot to disable the audio, so you’re still being broadcast live!!!

Author’s Note:

How could anyone be asking when Xiao Pei first realized his feelings?

Come on, wake up!
