The Fake Daughter Want to Be Villainess - Chapter 33
Jiang Shu did not take Pei Wang’s words seriously. She tilted her head and cheerfully replied, “Sure!”
As she followed Pei Wang toward the forest scenic area, she smiled brightly and said, “I’ll find a shop when I get back and custom order about ten banners in one go.”
Jiang Shu turned her head to remind him, “Make sure to decorate the collection room nicely.”
Pei Wang nodded in agreement, saying, “Alright, I’ll show it to the young lady once it’s done.”
Jiang Shu felt a bit shy hearing him call her that: “Don’t call me that.” After a moment’s thought, she offered a comparison: “Do you want me to call you ‘Little Prince’ instead?”
With a playful tug on his sleeve, she teased, “Little Prince—”
Pei Wang pinched her fingertip through his sleeve, slightly lowering his voice with a hint of helplessness, “Shu Shu—”
Jiang Shu pulled her hand away, holding it up in front of Pei Wang and making a shushing gesture: “Then you can’t call me that anymore, okay?”
Pei Wang raised his hand and caught her upright index finger, then he hooked his pinky finger to gently touch Jiang Shu’s pinky: “Alright.”
They had reached the entrance of the forest scenic area. The entrance featured a large stone gate carved with the name of the scenic area, leading to a winding stone staircase ascending further.
Feeling uneasy, Jiang Shu turned to Camera Brother: “This scenic spot’s check-in point isn’t at the top of the mountain, right?”
This mountain was different from the small hill she recorded at last time; it was a towering mountain, steep and daunting.
Camera Brother remained silent, merely waving his hand at her.
It was unclear whether the check-in point was at the mountain top or if he simply could not say.
Sighing, Jiang Shu tugged at Pei Wang’s sleeve and resolutely stepped onto the stone staircase.
The stone steps were carved according to the original slope of the mountain and were extremely steep. Jiang Shu felt a bit scared, instinctively pulling at Pei Wang’s sleeve.
After not walking long, they reached the end of the stone staircase, where a massive rock loomed. Above the rock, a narrow path extended, and there was a sign at the fork.
[Sea Viewing Point]
Jiang Shu tugged at Pei Wang: “Shall we go take a look over there?”
She was curious about the Sea Viewing Point: “Isn’t Qing City supposed to have no sea?”
Pei Wang lowered his brows and looked at her, gently asking, “Aren’t we going to climb the mountain first?”
Jiang Shu pulled him toward the narrow path: “There’s no rush at the moment.”
Not wanting to be in the lead, she looked up and nudged Pei Wang’s arm, softly calling, “Brother.”
Pei Wang stepped inside.
Jiang Shu trailed behind him like a little tail. After taking a couple of steps, she suddenly remembered something and tugged at Pei Wang’s shirt corner, signaling for him to stop.
She turned to Camera Brother: “The path ahead isn’t very easy to navigate, why don’t you wait here for us?”
The narrow path had protective measures, so no one could fall, but the camera could.
Jiang Shu assured him, “We’ll be back quickly.”
Camera Brother glanced at her, then set the camera down on the ground beside him and gave her an “OK” gesture.
Jiang Shu turned back and continued walking with Pei Wang toward the Sea Viewing Point.
The narrow road stretched for a while, wrapping around the mountain. After some time, it finally opened up, leading to a large boulder that jutted out.
The edge of the boulder was fenced off, and a hexagonal pavilion was set up against the mountainside. Jiang Shu released Pei Wang’s shirt corner and carefully moved toward the railing, glancing down.
There was no sea; thick clouds and mist swirled together, revealing a faint hint of water color, accompanied by the loud sound of rushing waters in her ears.
It was a river.
The clouds and mist obscured and stretched the surface of the river, and combined with the sound of turbulent water, it indeed felt quite sea-like.Jiang Shu leaned on the railing, took a couple of looks, and suddenly remembered her promise with Camera Brother. She turned to Pei Wang and asked, “Shouldn’t we be going now? Huh?”
She walked up to the pavilion, glancing at the small camera hanging from the eaves. “Isn’t this one set up by the Program Team?”
No wonder Camera Brother had agreed to her suggestion without hesitation; it turned out he didn’t need to follow them in after all.
Jiang Shu walked around the pavilion and then saw the check-in flag next to one of the columns.
She pulled Pei Wang to check in, then sat down in the pavilion. “So we don’t have to rush to find Camera Brother anymore?”
Jiang Shu leaned on the pavilion railing, peering into the distant clouds and mist, feeling a bit regretful. “We should have skipped the afternoon break and come here directly.”
The abundance of vegetation on the mountain, combined with its high altitude, made it several degrees cooler than the amusement park, reaching nearly the most comfortable temperature.
Pei Wang sat down beside her, resting his elbow on the railing, propping his chin up with his hand, his eyelashes lowered, gazing at her with a smile. “It’s my fault; I shouldn’t have encouraged you to take a break.”
Jiang Shu glared at him. “You’re being so sarcastic!”
Turning her back to him, she ignored Pei Wang and leaned against the railing, lazily observing the scenery around her.
However, this comfort didn’t last long as a mountain breeze began to blow, rustling the leaves. Jiang Shu hugged her arms. “It’s getting cold.”
She cast a suspicious glance around, “Is it going to rain?”
Feeling uneasy, Jiang Shu tugged at Pei Wang’s sleeve, pulling him outside. The moment they stepped out of the pavilion, raindrops fell onto her face.
The rain had already started.
Jiang Shu raised her hand to shield herself from the rain and was about to discuss whether they should return to the pavilion for cover when a thunderclap sounded, and the rain suddenly intensified. Pei Wang grabbed her wrist, pulling her back into the pavilion.
Heavy rain poured down.
The wind in the mountains sent the rain slanting into the pavilion. Jiang Shu moved further into the pavilion’s center, trying to avoid the splattering rain.
“Is it going to last long?” she asked anxiously. “Will we be able to make it back to the meeting point in time?”
Pei Wang moved slightly forward, shielding her from the rain and wind. He reassured her, “Summer often brings thunderstorms, and they don’t last long; it won’t impact anything.”
Jiang Shu still felt uneasy, but there was nothing they could do while the rain continued to fall. She tightened her clothes around her and squatted down, curling up and looking up at Pei Wang. “It’s really cold here.”
Pei Wang lowered his head. “I didn’t bring a coat.”
He hesitated a moment, bending slightly. “Do you mind if I hug you? It might warm you up—”
“Pei Wang!” Jiang Shu suddenly reached out, grabbing the hem of his shirt. She stared nervously at the mountainside not far away, urging him, “Look over there!”
She stood up, disregarding the wind and rain that splashed against her face, and hurried forward a few steps, fixating on the mountain.
In front of the mountain was a landslide prevention net, and beyond it, the mountain had begun to bulge, with water mixed with mud and stones starting to flow down.
It was a bad omen.
The heavy rain continued to pour down, and Jiang Shu wanted to move closer, but Pei Wang quickly grabbed her hand and said in a hurried tone, “Let’s go.”
Jiang Shu was still processing what was happening when Pei Wang pulled her into the rain and then pushed her into the narrow path.
Jiang Shu didn’t know what was going on but instinctively began to run forward. She heard strange sounds in her ears, which pierced through the noise of the rain, growing increasingly intense.
The previous massive rock was now right in front of them, and Pei Wang wrapped his arms tightly around Jiang Shu’s waist, pressing her against him as he lunged forward with all his might!
The mud and stones broke through the protective net behind them, crashing down explosively!
