The Fake Daughter Want to Be Villainess - Chapter 31
Pei Wang quickly reacted, “Do you want to go to that restaurant?”
He slightly lowered his head, frowning as he said, “But we’re not a couple.”
Jiang Shu looked at him as if he were foolish, “We can pretend.” She thought for a moment, “It shouldn’t be too difficult, right?”
Pei Wang furrowed his brow lightly, “Not necessarily.”
There surely were more people with the same idea of pretending. The amusement park would definitely set up some small tests to verify if the guests were really couples, in order to prevent such dining fraud.
Pei Wang and Jiang Shu exchanged glances for a moment and then compromised, “Let’s go check it out first.”
They weren’t the only ones who heard the news and were heading to the restaurant; Pei Wang and Jiang Shu followed the crowd and walked to the restaurant, then waited in line outside.
The line was quite long, and occasionally there were cheers from up ahead. Jiang Shu stood on her tiptoes to see, but the line was too long; she couldn’t see the end at all.
Disheartened, she set her feet back down and accidentally bumped into the back of the girl in front of her. The girl frowned and turned around to glance at her.
Jiang Shu hurriedly apologized, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bump into you.”
The girl didn’t say anything, and Jiang Shu thought she must have hurt her. Just as she was about to ask a couple of questions, she heard a little gasp. The girl covered her mouth and exclaimed softly, “Jiang Shu? Pei Wang?”
She turned her head to look around, then spotted Camera Brother not far away, holding a camera.
The girl’s eyes lit up, “Are you recording ‘Let’s Reconcile’?”
She quickly recalled something and took a small step back, lowering her voice, puzzled, “But isn’t this a couple’s event?”
Jiang Shu loosely wrapped her arms around Pei Wang’s arm and tilted her head, “Don’t we look like a couple?”
The girl was taken aback, staring in shock at Pei Wang and Jiang Shu for a moment, “But aren’t you two siblings?”
She then came to a realization, “Oh, oh, oh, are you pretending to be a couple to get a free meal at the restaurant?”
Jiang Shu nodded, just about to say something when Pei Wang grabbed her wrist.
He slightly lowered his head and offered the girl an apologetic smile, distancing himself as he said, “Sorry, we need to keep the filming a secret.”
The girl responded repeatedly, “Oh, oh, oh.”
She looked at Jiang Shu and Pei Wang a couple more times, and once the line moved significantly forward, her partner pulled her, and she suddenly reacted, turning to walk ahead.
Then she hugged her phone and opened WeChat, quickly typing in the group chat.
[Parallel Universe No. 1923]: Sisters, sisters!!! I ran into the program team at the amusement park today!!! Wuwuwu, our parallel universe will have new sweet content again!
The group immediately became lively.
[Parallel Universe No. 1233]: Really, really, really? What are they filming? Are Shu Bao and Pei Wang good-looking? Are they really sweet or is it edited by the program team?
[Parallel Universe No. 0423]: What new sweet content! What new sweet content! What new sweet content! Don’t keep it secret; let’s all enjoy it together!
……
The messages flooded in quickly as the girl typed rapidly.
[Parallel Universe No. 1923]: So good!!! Even better than on TV! Shu Bao is such a sweet girl, super well-behaved, and she’s completely unguarded. Wuwuwu, Pei Wang is so aloof, that kind of polite indifference. But he is so gentle with Shu Bao! Extremely considerate!
[Parallel Universe No. 1923]: The line was so crowded that Shu Bao probably didn’t even notice, he fell a little behind her, helping to create a small space for her.
[Parallel Universe No. 1923]: Wuwuwu, my dog boy friend didn’t even notice this!
The girl wanted to continue sharing, but the line had moved up to them, so she had to put away her phone and walk up to the restaurant staff.
Jiang Shu followed and reached the front of the restaurant. She grabbed Pei Wang’s sleeve and nervously watched the girl and her partner.
She saw the staff say something to them, then the girl tilted her head and gave a quick peck on her partner’s mouth. The two took each other’s hands and entered the restaurant.
Jiang Shu: “?”
No, kissing is absolutely not allowed.
She felt a bit discouraged, but as the line had reached them, she had to walk into the restaurant with a glimmer of hope and a steely resolve.
In front of them was a large opaque cardboard box with a small hole on top, just big enough for a hand.
The staff directed Jiang Shu, “Please reach inside and draw out a small ball. Then open the ball, and whatever is written on the paper inside will be your challenge.”
Jiang Shu stepped forward hesitantly, reaching her hand into the box and randomly feeling around for a ball.
She took the ball out without opening it, holding it in her hands nervously as she asked the staff, “What kinds of challenges are there?”
The staff seemed to have been asked this question many times before and immediately replied, “Kissing, hugging, and some other forms of physical contact.”
He urged, “There are many people behind you, please hurry up.”
Jiang Shu bit her lip, then with resolve, she opened the ball, took out the slip of paper, and swiftly shoved it into Pei Wang’s hands: “You take a look.”
Pei Wang glanced down at the slip of paper in his hands. He handed the slip of paper to the staff, while Jiang Shu reached out her hand.
Jiang Shu was taken aback for a moment, then tilted her head, “Is it holding hands?”
She blankly placed her hand into Pei Wang’s palm, and before she could react, he pulled her into his embrace.
Pei Wang lowered his head and gently kissed the top of her head.
Jiang Shu blinked.
The staff had already handed over the table number: “Challenge completed, this is your table. Someone will bring your meal shortly.”
Jiang Shu took the number and looked around the hall, then found their seats and walked over with Pei Wang.
This activity didn’t seem to be a spontaneous idea; the restaurant had prepared the set meals in advance, and the food came out very quickly.
It consisted of two servings of steak pasta, accompanied by a glass of chilled fruit juice. The pasta was garnished with a small tomato cut into a heart shape.
Jiang Shu picked up her knife and fork, looked up at Pei Wang, “Not bad, huh?”
Pei Wang didn’t respond.
He was unusually lost in thought.
He was reflecting on what had just happened. It was a very ordinary hug; he had used a little technique and didn’t genuinely pull Jiang Shu into his arms.
He hadn’t actually kissed her; her hair was fluffy enough to conceal the small distance.
But even now, he still felt the sweet scent of shampoo lingering at the tip of his nose.
It could be rose or perhaps vanilla.
Pei Wang didn’t answer, and Jiang Shu didn’t mind. She spun her fork into a small portion of pasta, looking a bit troubled, “I can’t finish this.”
She looked up at Pei Wang and whispered, “Brother?”
This was Jiang Shu’s usual tone when she wanted something from someone.
Pei Wang instinctively pushed the plate toward her. Once Jiang Shu forked over all the pasta, he snapped back to reality.
The pasta was now on her plate, and Pei Wang could only remedy the situation: “Shu Shu, this is not good.”
Jiang Shu didn’t reply; she rested her hand on her chin, lowered her gaze, and peeked at him, “Are you stupid or not?”
She shook her head slightly, “Actually, if I can’t finish it, I can always leave it on the plate.”
She was worried that he wouldn’t have enough to eat.
Pei Wang understood her hint. He lightly tapped the plate with the tip of his fork, a bit amused, “I got it.”
He put down his fork and, with a slight smile, glanced over gently, saying warmly, “Thank you, Shu Shu.”
Jiang Shu suddenly felt a bit shy; she murmured, “There’s no need to take it so seriously.”
She changed the subject, “Let’s eat first.”
There were many people in line for the activity, and seating was limited. After finishing her meal, Jiang Shu didn’t linger and pulled Pei Wang out of the restaurant. The summer sun beat down intensely. Jiang Shu pressed her fingers together to fan herself a couple of times, then walked into a shaded area, looked up at Pei Wang, and frowned slightly, “Are we still going to walk this afternoon?”
She seemed unwilling, saying, “It’s so hot.”
Jiang Shu mumbled a hint, “And there’s only one more attraction to visit, we have plenty of time.”
Pei Wang lowered his gaze and quietly replied, “We have to go.”
Jiang Shu’s eyes widened in surprise, like a cat that had its can of food snatched away.
Pei Wang chuckled and gently explained, “It’s not a new attraction; there’s a rest area in the amusement park.”
He looked down and asked, “Do you want to take a nap?”
Jiang Shu definitely wanted to.
Whether at home or school, she always took a nap, but once the program team started filming, her right to a nap was taken away.
Jiang Shu grabbed Pei Wang’s sleeve, blinking at him, “Brother—”
Pei Wang didn’t pull his sleeve away and led Jiang Shu forward, saying, “Let’s go.”
The rest area was a corridor adorned with wisteria. It was still mealtime, so there weren’t many tourists resting here; most of the spots were empty.
Pei Wang took out wet wipes and tissues to clean off the long stone bench, then looked up at Jiang Shu.
Jiang Shu reclined diagonally on the stone bench.
It was too hot in the summer, with a buzzing sound in her ears. Jiang Shu didn’t think she would be able to fall asleep, but she quickly closed her eyes, and soon a breeze swept through the corridor, carrying away the sound of mosquitoes.
Jiang Shu fell asleep.
Pei Wang sat beside her, using a paper fan made from a brochure to fan the air and keep the mosquitoes away.
Sunlight filtered through the lush wisteria leaves, dappling down in spots. Pei Wang lowered his brow, peacefully reflecting—
Today really was a sunny day.
