The Crybaby Mistress GL - Chapter 7
The next day, Luo Jing had to attend school. In the end, she chose not to call the driver. Instead, she walked for nearly forty-five minutes before finally reaching the bus stop. After that, she took the bus to school.
She was still wearing the same one-piece dress that Chen Xin had bought for her. She thought about heading to the dormitory later to pack some clothes. The other place she now stayed at had all the necessary daily supplies, but there were no clothes. Luo Jing had no choice but to wash what she had, dry them, and wear them again. Even her undergarments had to go through the same cycle.
By the time she arrived at the classroom, it was almost time for class to begin. Many students were already inside, yet not many greeted her. Luo Jing kept her head lowered as she entered. She had always been a quiet person, even more so than Jing An, and today she appeared even more withdrawn. She found a seat in the corner and sat down in silence.
She had only just settled in when Li Cheng, who had been chatting with some classmates, turned to look at her. Li Cheng’s eyes, which held a hint of cunning, examined Luo Jing’s new outfit for quite a while. Without hesitation, she abandoned the flirtatious conversation with the male students and plopped herself down next to Luo Jing.
Even with her face heavily made up, Li Cheng’s ordinary features could not be transformed into anything striking. She dressed boldly and, even though it was just a school day, she wore a spaghetti-strap crop top paired with tight and thin capri pants that clung to her body like yoga wear. She completed the outfit with a pair of trendy ankle boots. These choices were enough to make her popular among the boys in the class.
As soon as Luo Jing saw her approaching, an awkward expression appeared on her face. She clutched a small bag tightly in her hand and slowly extended it toward Li Cheng. “Li Cheng, your clothes…”
Li Cheng took the bag and saw that it contained her orange miniskirt. It had been washed and neatly folded. A playful and mocking smile spread across her face.
“You used to act like you were so uptight, but now you’ve already found yourself a sugar daddy? That is outrageous! You really know how to play innocent, don’t you?”
She gave Luo Jing a slap. It was not a gentle one, and a red mark appeared on Luo Jing’s pale arm.
Luo Jing covered the spot that had been hit, lowered her head, and said nothing.
Li Cheng glared at her. “Don’t just sit there in silence!” Her eyes returned to the one-piece dress, and her face showed a greedy expression. She reached over and began fiddling with the edge of Luo Jing’s sleeve.
“Wow, isn’t this a current-season FC brand dress? It is insanely expensive! Did your sugar daddy buy this for you?”
Luo Jing moved her arm slightly. The motion was subtle but enough to pull her sleeve free from Li Cheng’s grasp, stopping her from rubbing the fabric any further.
The moment her hand was empty, Li Cheng’s mood soured. She muttered under her breath, “What is your problem? It is just a touch. Nothing would happen. Besides, you should be thanking me for introducing you to this opportunity. If it weren’t for me, how would you have landed such a profitable job so quickly?”
Luo Jing’s face showed a flicker of distress when she heard that. She said quietly, “You tricked me…”
Li Cheng scoffed. “I was only trying to help because I saw that you needed money. If you disliked the idea so much, then why did you end up accepting the sugar daddy? Now you are turning around and blaming me. That is too much.”
She rolled her eyes, believing she had been generous in helping Luo Jing, who was clearly ungrateful.
Originally, Li Cheng had planned to walk away. However, after glancing at Luo Jing again, her eyes glinted with calculation. Luo Jing truly was beautiful. Her skin was fair, her facial features were delicate, and her figure was graceful. If she did not wear such old-fashioned clothes, she might have been crowned the campus belle.
Li Cheng harbored jealousy toward Luo Jing’s natural beauty. Unlike Luo Jing, she had already submitted her information to Sister Wu months ago, but no one had been willing to sponsor her. She could only earn a little by collecting referral fees. To Li Cheng, it seemed like a waste not to take advantage of such a pretty fool.
She leaned in and whispered, “You seem to be doing well. Want to try another one with me after school today? If you manage your time carefully, it is totally possible to be sponsored by two sugar daddies at once. The income would be excellent.”
Luo Jing’s eyes widened in shock. She had never imagined such a chaotic situation. Being sponsored by two men at the same time? Would that mean serving one today and another tomorrow? That idea was far too messy for her. She could not accept it.
“No, no! I don’t want to!”
Li Cheng sneered at her reaction. “Stop pretending to be pure. Fine, whatever. Just don’t forget to thank me properly for setting you up in the first place.”
The teacher entered the classroom, ready to start the lesson, and only then did Li Cheng leave. She had no intention of continuing to sit beside Luo Jing. With a twist of her waist, she moved over to sit next to one of the more handsome male classmates. In a sugary tone, she said, “Lu Ting, this class is so hard. You have so much homework. Can you help me with it?”
Luo Jing stared at Li Cheng’s retreating figure with a sour feeling in her chest. She recalled how she had once thought this girl wanted to be her friend. Now, she realized how foolish she had been.
About a month earlier, her eldest sister had called unexpectedly. Her mother had collapsed and been taken to the hospital. The whole family panicked. Her mother had always been healthy. The last time Luo Jing saw her, she had still been working in the fields with a hoe. A young widow, she had raised three children on her own. Just when she was about to enjoy some well-earned rest, her body gave out.
The Luo family had never been wealthy, but they had managed well enough that Luo Jing, the youngest, had never had to worry about money. However, this time was different. Her mother needed a large amount of money for medical treatment. Every day her mother stayed in the hospital, it consumed their savings until eventually the family’s limited funds were entirely depleted. The three sisters gathered to discuss what to do.
Luo Jing was still a student. Her two older sisters took on the burden of their mother’s medical expenses. Luo Jing, on the other hand, had to find a way to cover her own tuition and living costs. She agreed without complaint. At that moment, she understood that easing the burden on her sisters was something within her power.
She began searching seriously for part-time work. One day, while reading a job posting, Li Cheng had wandered over. She mentioned a high-paying job that urgently needed workers and asked if Luo Jing was interested.
“Does it pay a lot? I can only do part-time,” Luo Jing had replied, puzzled that such a good job existed.
Li Cheng assured her, “Part-time is fine. It depends on how hard you are willing to work.”
Luo Jing had nodded earnestly. “I’m willing.” She had been ready to do anything, whether it was washing dishes, serving food, or cleaning.
To her surprise, Li Cheng gave her a super-short skirt and told her to wear it. At first, Luo Jing had refused. Li Cheng explained that it was required for entry into the workplace. Half-trusting, half-doubting, Luo Jing changed into the skirt. She assumed it was just her inexperience. The city was full of odd places, after all.
Only when she realized that the job was actually being a kept woman did she become completely stunned. Li Cheng had not even tried to hide the truth. Right in front of her, she negotiated with a woman named Sister Wu and accepted a thick wad of cash as a referral fee. Then she simply said, “Good luck,” and left.
At the time, Luo Jing had been so frightened that she felt like she had been pushed into a pit of fire. Soon after, a man named Luo Jie happened to show up. He had come to the bar run by Sister Wu for some casual talk. Sister Wu took the chance to promote Luo Jing to him. As she prepared to flee, Luo Jie suddenly declared that he wanted to sponsor her for five hundred thousand yuan.
Five hundred thousand.
Even now, with her mind clearer, Luo Jing still could not bring herself to refuse such a large sum.
She needed the money.
Even so, Li Cheng’s actions had left her cold. In front of her, Luo Jing always felt too ashamed to lift her head.
No matter how slow-witted she might have seemed, she could still see the scorn in Li Cheng’s eyes.
That’s right!
Little Luo Jing had been tricked!
