Although the two had hoped to keep their relationship private for a while, it was clear they could not fool Luo Nan. Being discovered was only a matter of time. Luo Jing lacked the ability to lie convincingly. She opened her mouth several times but could not find the words. In the end, she slowly confessed the truth.

Luo Nan crossed her arms and tapped her finger lightly against her arm, appearing to consider how she should handle her youngest sister. Luo Jing, feeling as though she had done something wrong, bowed her head in a silent display of guilt.

Unlike the quiet response of her sisters, the eldest sister, Luo Han, was still trying to make sense of the situation. “Why are you dating a woman? What happened? Luo Jing, you need to explain this clearly.”

When Luo Jing glanced at Chen Xin with a helpless expression, Chen Xin spoke up gently. “Please do not blame Jing Jing. I was the one who pursued her.”

Luo Han pressed her hand to her forehead as though struggling to understand. In her memory, her youngest sister had always been a diligent and serious student. To hear that she was now in a relationship with a woman was a shock. It was not that Luo Han could not accept the idea. The information was simply too much to process all at once.

“Dating?” Luo Nan still looked skeptical. Something felt off. She took off her thick glasses and wiped them. Without them, her features appeared clearer and somewhat elegant, though not striking. “Are you really just dating?”

The truth about their past financial arrangement was taboo. Luo Jing found her throat tightening and could not bring herself to speak. Her mind froze. Fortunately, Chen Xin answered first. “Of course. We are in a romantic relationship.”

She then launched into a fabricated story about visiting a professor friend at Luo Jing’s university. According to her, they had met on campus by chance, felt an immediate connection, and began a courtship. Her voice was steady, her words vivid. Her eyes carried a gentle light, as though she were reminiscing. In reality, she was recalling how unforgettable Luo Jing’s first time had been.

Luo Jing’s lips parted slightly as she listened. Even she was nearly convinced. Chen Xin told the story so vividly that Luo Jing began to question her own memory. Why did it sound more heartfelt when Chen Xin told it? Why did she keep turning to her with such a warm gaze, as if they truly shared the memory?

Chen Xin was, after all, the leader of a company. She was an expert at navigating conversations. For the moment, she managed to placate the sisters. Luo Nan narrowed her eyes slightly. Luo Jing could only nod. Luo Nan reluctantly accepted the explanation. If they were simply dating, she would not press further.

However, Luo Han was still struggling. She frowned and said, “Jing, you are still in school. You should not be dating so early, especially not with another woman.”

Her tone was hesitant. She clearly felt awkward about reprimanding her younger sister, particularly with Chen Xin present. But she pushed on. “I do not agree with you dating a woman. We know nothing about her.”

Chen Xin gave off the impression of someone already established in the professional world. Her appearance was polished and elegant. Her refined beauty, combined with a composed and confident demeanor, made it obvious she was around thirty. She was a wealthy, mature woman. In terms of age and social status, she seemed far removed from Luo Jing. Luo Han found it difficult to accept.

At that moment, Luo Nan put her glasses back on and asked directly, “That fifty thousand, was that from you?”

Her voice, though calm, was direct enough to make everyone take notice.

“Yes, it was,” Chen Xin answered without hesitation. “I know that Luo Jing’s family is experiencing financial difficulties. I simply wanted to ease her burden. That amount of money is nothing significant for me.”

Luo Nan gave a slight scoff but said nothing further. Luo Han seemed ready to speak again, but Luo Nan interrupted. “You still have not explained what happened today. We will set our youngest sister’s issue aside for now. It is your turn. All the commotion even disturbed Mom. You must give us a proper explanation.”

“Yes, big sister. This private room is extremely expensive,” Luo Jing added. Although she was not in charge of paying the hospital bills, she was familiar enough with the hospital’s pricing. Just one night in this room was shockingly costly.

What none of them realized was that this hospital’s private rooms were not available to just anyone with money. Without personal connections, the hospital would not offer access to such rooms. Chen Xin, who understood the real circumstances, remained silent. She did not interfere with the sisters’ discussion. However, in her mind, she already had a guess about who was behind it.

As expected, Luo Han was worse at lying than Luo Jing. Her guilty expression was all too familiar. After some hesitation, she finally said, “It was my employer. After she learned about our situation at home… she helped out out of kindness… well…”

Kindness? Chen Xin found it impossible to associate that word with Wu Mohua. If Wu Mohua had acted out of pure goodwill, then Chen Xin might as well be a divine saint.

“Your employer is that generous? This is not a minor favor. Big sister, please tell the truth,” Luo Nan said firmly. She was not easily convinced, and Luo Han’s discomfort was too obvious to ignore.

“I… I really do not know why she did it. I barely understand her. Maybe she wants me to extend my work hours, but I am not sure…”

Luo Han had been dividing her time between three days at Wu Mohua’s house and three days at the hospital. Just a few days ago, Wu Mohua had suddenly said that Luo Han’s time at the hospital interfered with her work and asked her to stay at the residence for longer periods. Luo Han had refused.

There was no way she could leave her mother alone. Even when Wu Mohua offered double the pay, Luo Han did not accept. Wu Mohua later threw a tantrum, but Luo Han stood by her original schedule.

Soon afterward, Luo Han received Luo Nan’s message. The hospital room had been upgraded. Wu Mohua never denied that she was behind it. She only told Luo Han to think about how to repay the favor.

After thinking about it, the only explanation was the work schedule. Still, the logic was weak, and even Luo Han did not truly believe it. There was no reason to expect her younger sisters would believe it either.

“Big sister, do you not think that is too far-fetched?” Luo Nan asked, clearly unconvinced.

Luo Jing frowned. “I agree. It does not sound realistic.”

At this point, Chen Xin finally spoke. “Sorry to interrupt, but I actually know Wu Mohua. Based on what I know, what big sister Luo Han said is very possible.”

Wu Mohua was difficult to describe.

“This may seem a bit presumptuous, but I believe Wu Mohua has developed feelings for big sister Luo Han. That is how she tends to act,” Chen Xin said to Luo Jing. “The more she likes something, the more she wants to keep it close to her.”

Luo Jing recalled the woman she had seen previously. Her frown deepened. “That employer… I remember her being a little unstable.”

Even now, the look in Wu Mohua’s eyes gave Luo Jing a chill.

Luo Nan’s expression also turned grim. These issues were difficult to handle. She said, “We are all adults. We do not need others telling us how to live. If each of us knows what we are doing, then I will not interfere. But there is one thing everyone needs to listen to.”

She looked around the room. Her serious tone made everyone straighten up, including Chen Xin.

“Do not let any of this affect Mom’s recovery,” Luo Nan said. Her words were clear and stern.
