The Crybaby Mistress GL - Chapter 37
Ever since that night, Luo Jing had not wanted to see another jelly stick for several days. Especially the jelly strips sold in convenience stores. Whenever she saw them, her cheeks would flush red, as if the store were selling something indecent instead of a snack, and she would quickly avert her gaze.
At lunchtime, Chen Xin teased her over the phone, saying she was greedy. Luo Jing became so flustered that she could hardly keep talking and ended the call in a hurry. She was so embarrassed she nearly buried her face in her lunchbox.
Those colorful gelatin sticks might have looked harmless, but Luo Jing had never imagined how they were really meant to be used. Their real purpose was all about combinations. Just thinking about how the inner walls had been simultaneously stimulated by both the protruding ridges and the spiral textures made Luo Jing force herself to stop. She definitely did not want to be sitting in class with damp underwear again.
She remembered how both her front and back had been stuffed full of those jelly strips, which continuously moved in and out. Feeling flushed, she picked up her notebook and began fanning herself. Thankfully, she was eating in the classroom that day, and no one else was really around. If she had been in the packed cafeteria, her unusual behavior would have been too obvious.
Shaking her head, Luo Jing bit the end of her chopsticks. She could barely eat.
Just then, Lu Ting wandered back into the classroom after lunch. When he saw Luo Jing eating in the back, he broke into a big smile and quickly walked over, spinning into the seat in front of her and simply stared as she ate.
Luo Jing felt so uncomfortable under his gaze that she forced herself to take a few more bites before putting down her chopsticks. She asked, “Do you need something?”
Lu Ting studied her carefully but did not notice anything unusual. She seemed the same as always. He asked, “I returned your notebook. Did you… see it?”
Luo Jing had completely forgotten about the little heart. It only came back to her mind when he mentioned it. She frowned slightly and replied, “I saw it. Don’t draw on my notebook again. My sister saw it.”
If not for that heart, Luo Jing would not have had that whole part of their relationship unlocked so soon. This was all Lu Ting’s fault.
Lu Ting had not expected his doodle to be seen by Luo Jing’s family. His face turned red and he felt too awkward to continue the conversation.
Luo Jing did not think too deeply about it. She assumed Lu Ting had just been goofing around. After all, she already had something going on with Miss Chen. She never even considered taking things further with Lu Ting. Especially since he was always chatting with other girls at school. People their age loved playing around with vague relationships, and Luo Jing did not like that.
This made Lu Ting feel a bit helpless. For once, he had genuinely wanted to confess to a girl. Yet Luo Jing did not take him seriously at all. Lu Ting knew it was not that she looked down on him. She simply saw him as a pure friend. No matter how he hinted at his feelings, she kept him firmly in the friend zone. He could not even bring himself to confess directly because he was afraid they would not even stay friends afterward.
So, to avoid disturbing Luo Jing while she ate, Lu Ting did not try to keep chatting with her. However, he could not stop talking altogether. He ended up speaking non-stop on his own, like a machine gun, sharing silly stories of adventures with his friends. He was clearly trying to make Luo Jing laugh, using exaggerated expressions and vivid descriptions. His goal was to distract her from her recent humiliating memories.
Later, during class, Lu Ting simply took the seat next to Luo Jing. His friends also gathered around them. Thanks to Lu Ting, Luo Jing found herself interacting more with others. They were all easygoing people who greeted her when they saw her. The impression of her as a loner was slowly fading.
At that moment, Li Cheng arrived just in time for class. She wore another revealing outfit today, baring her navel with a crop top and shorts, covered by a long semi-transparent outer layer. As she stepped into the classroom, she noticed the liveliest group of students had no room left, and Luo Jing was sitting among them, seeming to get along with everyone. Her eyes stayed fixed on Luo Jing.
Luo Jing lowered her head under that gaze. She could not shake the feeling that something strange and uncomfortable was behind Li Cheng’s stare.
Lu Ting saw it and half-jokingly grumbled, “Li Cheng, what are you staring at?”
Li Cheng finally looked away and found a seat that was far from Luo Jing. That made Luo Jing feel much more at ease. With Lu Ting sitting right beside her, he noticed the way her shoulders relaxed and found it amusing. He leaned over and whispered, “Don’t be scared. She won’t bully you anymore. I’ll protect you.” As he spoke, he patted his chest with an expression of confidence.
Luo Jing gave him a forced smile. Once class began, they did not speak privately again.
That day, Chen Xin could not come to pick Luo Jing up after school. Her driver was waiting at the gate early instead. Luo Jing did not expect that the moment she exited the gate, she would see a well-dressed, elegant woman standing next to the car she usually took. The driver beside her looked anxious and kept glancing in Luo Jing’s direction.
Puzzled, Luo Jing walked over. The driver greeted her softly, calling her Miss Luo. The woman’s gaze shifted toward her. “You’re Luo Jing?”
“Yes,” Luo Jing replied, certain she had never seen this lady before. “May I ask who you are…?”
The woman glanced at the driver. He quickly opened the car door for her. Once seated, she said to Luo Jing, “Come in. I want to talk to you.”
Luo Jing looked at the driver, her eyes silently asking for help. The driver shook his head slightly, as if saying he could do nothing. He silently mouthed the words Miss Chen.
Luo Jing figured the woman must be connected to Chen Xin. After a moment’s hesitation, she got into the car, curious about what this woman wanted to discuss.
The woman was, of course, Xu Fangting. After learning that Chen Xin was keeping a lover outside, she thought it over for a long time. Since Chen Xin had not handled it, Xu Fangting decided to take matters into her own hands. She had asked Assistant Li for some basic information about Luo Jing, thinking she could resolve things far more neatly than her daughter could.
Upon seeing that Luo Jing was just a young girl, Xu Fangting decided to take care of it immediately. There was no reason to let this drag on.
She brought Luo Jing to a quiet cafe. Seeing that the girl followed obediently, she politely ordered her a juice. After sitting down, she took a graceful sip of coffee. Luo Jing did not dare move recklessly. Sitting across from her, she carefully asked, “Excuse me…”
Xu Fangting set down her coffee and got straight to the point. “You look young and don’t seem like the type who would willingly take a wrong path. So I’ll be blunt. If you leave Chen Xin, I’m willing to offer you a sum of money within reason.” As she spoke, she took out a blank check, clearly letting Luo Jing decide what amount she wanted.
Luo Jing’s eyes widened at the sight. This scene was exactly like something out of a drama. Only when it happened in real life did she realize how unromantic it actually felt.
“Are you… Chen Xin’s mother?” she asked instinctively.
Xu Fangting nodded, and Luo Jing’s eyes grew even wider.
At that moment, Chen Xin was still at the company, busy with work. She glanced at the time. Luo Jing had already finished class, and she expected a call from her soon. She wanted to finish her tasks before that happened.
Just then, her secretary hurried in. Chen Xin’s expression darkened as she looked up. “Another file? Do not tell me more paperwork is coming in this late. I might lose it.”
The secretary quickly shook her head. “No, it’s something I need to report to you.”
“Speak,” Chen Xin replied without looking up. She wanted to finish everything quickly so she could leave.
The secretary explained, “You asked me to keep an eye on Assistant Li’s activities. Today, Assistant Li had a phone call with your mother and seemed to have passed her Miss Luo’s information. You—”
Before the secretary could finish, Chen Xin had already stood up and was heading toward the door. The secretary called after her, “Miss Chen, the documents!”
Chen Xin turned back. The secretary breathed a sigh of relief, thinking her boss had calmed down enough to finish her work. However, Chen Xin immediately ordered, “Ask Luo Jing’s driver where they are right now. Quickly!”
