After leaving the principal’s office, Jiang Yun, Zhan Rao, and the other two quickly grabbed dinner before hurrying back to attend evening self-study. They each returned to their respective classes.

The atmosphere in the classroom felt noticeably different upon their return.

Jiang Yun and Xin Keke were relatively unaffected. Their class was only curious about Li Yue’s situation. A few students approached Xin Keke for information, but after she declined to answer, their curiosity faded. Everyone returned to studying peacefully.

However, the situation in Class 2 next door was completely different. Students there were constantly moving around, laughing, and chatting loudly.

The grade supervisor had to visit multiple times to remind them to quiet down.

Class 18, located in the building across from them, was also stirred up. When students there saw Zhan Rao returning from dinner with Tong Xue, a wave of excitement spread through the class.

All eyes turned toward Zhan Rao.

Zhan Rao and Tong Xue were completely baffled.

It felt as though the entire class was in on some incredible secret that only the two of them were unaware of.

Could this be about Li Yue?

Tong Xue turned and asked the student behind her. The girl quickly waved her hand and said, “What? We don’t care about that girl from Class 1. This is something else entirely.”

Tong Xue asked curiously, “What is it then?”

“I can’t tell you. Just wait and see. Something big is coming. A huge surprise.”

Tong Xue looked even more confused and glanced at Zhan Rao.

Zhan Rao looked equally puzzled. She had no idea what kind of strange scheme was unfolding.

Meanwhile, at the heart of all the excitement, Class 2 was filled with an almost uncontrollable sense of anticipation and restlessness.

Every student had a white candle, a bouquet of roses, and colorful balloons hidden beneath their desks.

They huddled together in excited whispers, completely neglecting their homework.

“Wow, is Yan Kuo really going to do it?”

“Of course. I heard that when he found out Li Yue had hired someone to hurt Zhan Rao, he got super anxious. Now he plans to declare his love in front of everyone.”

“Honestly, I like Yan Kuo too, but seeing him stand up like this to protect his girl is just incredibly cool.”

“Exactly. I’m so jealous of Zhan Rao. She’s only been at our school for half a semester, and she’s already won Yan Kuo’s heart. Ahhh!”

“Well, she is really pretty.”

Meanwhile, although Yan Kuo was at the center of all the gossip and appeared calm on the surface, internally he was more anxious than anyone else.

It was 7:50 PM. Only ten minutes remained until eight o’clock.

If she didn’t show up, the entire plan would be ruined.

Ten minutes later, as the class bell rang, students from Class 2 streamed out, each carrying candles and flowers. They headed downstairs toward the sports field.

Class 1 next door saw everything clearly.

“Whoa, what is Class 2 doing?”

Students whispered among themselves.

Some who were friendly with Class 2 leaned out the windows and called out, “Hey! What are you guys doing? So mysterious.”

A student from Class 2 grinned and replied, “Secret!”

“We’re going to do something big!”

Yan Kuo, hearing the commotion, shouted impatiently, “Hurry up! Stop dawdling!”

He was worried that Class 1 would catch on and Jiang Yun would find out.

If Jiang Yun knew, the plan would definitely fail. Although he could not explain it, he had a strong feeling that she would interfere.

Every time Jiang Yun appeared, something went wrong.

And with such a grand setup, it was almost impossible for her not to notice.

Especially since he was acting so suspiciously himself.

“Ha! Yan Kuo’s making a big scene and still thinks he can keep it a secret?”

“I bet he’s planning some big confession to Zhan Rao out on the sports field.”

Class 1 students had no affection for Yan Kuo. Given his messy history with Jiang Yun, they disliked him deeply. Whenever he suffered setbacks near Zhan Rao, they were overjoyed.

Now, seeing him prepare to confess, they were full of envy.

“Tch, does he really think he’s good enough for Zhan Rao? He’s like a dumb donkey.”

Even the students behind Jiang Yun and Xin Keke sneered.

Xin Keke glanced at Jiang Yun. Sure enough, her friend was not focused on her homework. Not that she ever was, but now she was staring out the window, lost in thought.

“Jiang Yun, did you hear? Yan Kuo is going to confess to Zhan Rao.”

Jiang Yun nodded. “Yes.”

“And you’re not worried?”

Xin Keke was surprised.

From what she had seen, Jiang Yun and Zhan Rao were practically inseparable. They went everywhere together. And it seemed like there was something more between them.

Though she wasn’t sure if she was just imagining it.

But seeing Jiang Yun so calm made her feel awkward for asking.

A few seconds later, Jiang Yun turned to the two students behind her.

“You two, go find out exactly what Class 2 is planning. Get the time, place, everything.”

The two students froze in surprise, then exchanged excited looks. The goddess had actually given them a mission! They immediately jumped up and chased after the students from Class 2.

Jiang Yun leaned back in her seat, crossed her long legs, and twirled a Marlboro-brand fountain pen in her hand, as if waiting for a report.

Before long, the two students came back, their faces lit up with eagerness and excitement from what they had just discovered.

“Oh my god, it’s true! Yan Kuo really plans to confess to Zhan Rao! He had people prepare flowers, balloons, and candles. He’s going to declare his love right in front of everyone! So thrilling!” said Li Fei, looking more excited than if he were the one confessing.

“When?”

“After the second period ends.”

“How many people?”

“A lot. Not just Class 2. Even Class 18 knows about it.”

Li Fei shared every detail he had learned.

Jiang Yun listened and then smirked coldly.

“He isn’t planning a confession. He’s planning to kneel down in public and call her his mother.”

Li Fei stared blankly. “What?”

Xin Keke was just as confused. “Huh?”

Jiang Yun didn’t explain. She pulled out her phone and texted Zhan Rao, warning her to be cautious after evening classes. But after nearly an hour, there was still no reply. She didn’t answer her phone either.

Jiang Yun guessed that it was because of her injured hand. Besides, Zhan Rao was a good student and usually did not use her phone much.

But now, only ten minutes remained before evening study ended.

Jiang Yun frowned.

She turned and gave Li Fei a few more instructions, then stood up and walked out.

Class was still in session, but she left, openly holding her phone. Her actions drew plenty of attention.

When she passed by Class 2’s door, several people saw her.

“Brother Kuo, weren’t we supposed to watch Jiang Yun? She just walked out with her phone.”

Yan Kuo scowled. “What?!”

He immediately stood up, grabbed his phone, and rushed out after her.

At the doorway, he shouted, “Everyone, change of plans! Start now!”

He chased after Jiang Yun while calling the students in Class 18.

Jiang Yun walked ahead, Yan Kuo followed behind, and the students of Class 2 who had received his signal began to move.

Jiang Yun could hear the commotion. From the hallway, she could see Class 2 students rushing downstairs.

Yan Kuo caught up and grabbed her hand.

At the same time, Class 18 began to stir.

Their voices suddenly grew louder.

Jiang Yun watched as Zhan Rao was surrounded and pulled toward the classroom door.

She panicked.

She turned to run toward Class 18, but Yan Kuo was still holding her hand.

“Jiang Yun, I have something to tell you…” Yan Kuo had no better excuse and blurted out the first thing he could think of.

Jiang Yun turned to him with a cold smile.

“You have something to say? What is it?”

“I…”

“Let go.”

Her voice was icy.

Yan Kuo refused. “You can’t go!”

“Let go.”

Jiang Yun’s voice grew even colder.

Yan Kuo became angry. “I’m warning you, Jiang Yun. Don’t be ungrateful. If you weren’t halfway decent-looking, I would have dealt with you long ago.”

“Ha! You? Deal with me?”

Jiang Yun lifted her leg and kicked him hard in the chest.

Caught off guard, Yan Kuo was shocked that she had attacked him so violently.

“You dare hit me?!”

He lunged at her, but Jiang Yun moved quickly. She swept his legs and knocked him to the ground.

As he fell, she turned, fist raised to strike.

But by then, Zhan Rao had already been dragged downstairs to the sports field by the Class 18 students.

“Coward!”

Jiang Yun cursed. She dropped her fist and turned to run after them.

But Yan Kuo shamelessly got up and struck her neck with the edge of his hand.

She staggered, dazed.

Her legs buckled, and she leaned against the railing.

“Even if you go now, it won’t make a difference.”

Yan Kuo said smugly and walked away.

Jiang Yun leaned on the railing for a few seconds, but it was already too late.

She had no choice but to run after them in a hurry.

At that moment, Zhan Rao was suddenly pulled along and surrounded by her classmates as they led her toward the sports field. A dense group gathered around her, making any escape impossible. She immediately sensed that something was wrong. She wanted to break away, but no matter how she tried, she could not get through the circle of students enclosing her.

“What are you doing? Where are we going?”

“Come on, Zhan Rao. Stop asking. You’ll know soon enough. Just follow us.”

“Exactly. We’re not doing anything bad to you. Trust us.”

Everyone spoke at once, crowding around her and leading her forward.

She struggled inwardly, screaming in frustration. She tried to push through the group, but without Jiang Yun by her side, she was helpless against the strange force gripping her body. Even though she resisted with all her heart, her voice came out feeble and soft. She could not find the strength to assert herself.

Unease welled up in her chest. Something was definitely wrong.

No one was coming to help her.

Even Tong Xue had been blocked outside the crowd. It was as if someone had deliberately arranged things this way to prevent them from reaching each other.

Zhan Rao looked around nervously, hoping Jiang Yun would suddenly appear to rescue her.

She continued walking with the crowd, but she kept looking back over her shoulder.

She looked behind her many times, until finally, she saw Jiang Yun rushing toward her at the stairwell entrance of the school building.

The weight pressing on her heart immediately lifted.

Just seeing Jiang Yun made everything feel less frightening. Even surrounded like this, she felt safe again.

She saw Jiang Yun wave and say something, but they were too far apart. She could not hear or make out the words clearly. What she did notice was that Jiang Yun was holding something in her hand.

Was that a phone?

Zhan Rao paused for a moment, then quickly caught on.

Luckily, although the students had formed a ring around her, they were also vaguely trying to shield her, so there was still a bit of space. That small gap allowed her to move just enough to take out her phone. With difficulty, she tapped the screen using one hand.

Several missed calls from Jiang Yun appeared. They had come in just minutes ago.

She quickly pressed to answer.

“Jiang…”

Before she could finish saying the name, Jiang Yun’s voice came through the speaker, urgent and fast.

“Yan Kuo wants to bring you to the sports field and confess his love on his knees in front of everyone. But don’t panic. Just follow my instructions. Turn your phone to speaker mode, keep the call connected, and put it in your pocket.”

“What?”

Zhan Rao was stunned.

Yan Kuo was planning to confess on his knees in public? What on earth was he thinking?

“Then I can’t go!”

She liked Jiang Yun. There was no way she would let some foolish guy publicly confess to her like that.

“Right now, you don’t have a choice. Just do what I say. Move your phone as close to Yan Kuo as possible. The closer it is, the clearer his voice will come through. Do you understand?”

Zhan Rao did not know what Jiang Yun was planning, but she trusted her without hesitation.

“Understood!”

Jiang Yun saw Zhan Rao turn on the speaker and tuck the phone into her shirt pocket as instructed. She finally let out a breath.

She switched to her messages and asked Li Fei for an update. Once she got his confirmation that everything was in place, she relaxed.

A slight smirk tugged at her lips.

Yan Kuo wanted to take shortcuts and complete his mission easily. She would gladly give him a hand. She would make sure he earned those two points.

Following Yan Kuo’s plan, the students from Class 18 escorted Zhan Rao to the sports field.

Students from Class 2 were already there waiting. In the center of the field, candles had been arranged into a heart shape and were already burning brightly.

When Zhan Rao arrived, everyone stepped aside to let her stand in the center of the heart made of candles.

Her brows drew together in a deep frown.

Tong Xue, who had managed to catch up, took one look and looked like she was going to be sick.

“What the hell is this?”

Students from both Class 2 and Class 18 started clapping and shouting.

“Zhan Rao!”

“Zhan Rao!”

“Zhan Rao!”

“Zhan Rao!”

Her face turned crimson. Not from embarrassment, but from fury.

Inside, she was already seething with rage. If she could control her own actions, she would have thrown that shameless Yan Kuo to the ground and beaten him right there.

Through the excited crowd, Yan Kuo finally made his appearance. He was holding a massive bouquet of red roses, likely ninety-nine in total.

He looked at her with a bright smile and slowly walked forward.

Whistles and cheers burst from the crowd once again.

Yan Kuo cleared his throat and said with a smile, “Zhan Rao, you know I like you. Ever since I first saw you giving that speech on stage, I haven’t been able to look away. So please, give me a chance. Be with me.”

As he finished, he dropped to one knee.

The cheering exploded again.

“Be together!”

“Be together!”

“Be together!”

“Be together!”

Zhan Rao’s face flushed an even deeper red.

This time, it was all anger.

Still, she remembered Jiang Yun’s instructions. She had to endure this. She moved a little closer to Yan Kuo, judging that this should be the right distance.

She still had no idea what Jiang Yun was trying to do.

“Will you be mine?”

Zhan Rao did not respond, so Yan Kuo lifted his head and asked again.

“I swear, you’ll be the happiest girl in all of Yinchuan High School. With me protecting you, no one will ever dare to lay a finger on you. If anyone so much as touches a single strand of your hair, I’ll make them pay with their life.”

Zhan Rao was speechless.

She felt faint.

Where did he even learn such greasy, over-the-top lines? Was this straight out of some drama like Wang Congcong’s?

But the crowd around them was in a frenzy. They shouted about how romantic it was.

When Yan Kuo shifted from kneeling on one knee to both knees, even that strange pose made them cheer louder. Of course, it was different. This was Brother Kuo, who never did things the usual way and always confessed love in his own style.

No wonder he was considered the most popular guy at Yinchuan High School.

If they could be confessed to like this just once in their lifetime, they could die without regrets.

“Ahhh! Say yes already!”

“Be together!”

“This is so romantic!”

The crowd reached a fever pitch.

Their voices rolled like thunder.

Yan Kuo’s lips curled into a satisfied smile.

This was the moment he had planned for.

With so much noise, even if he yelled out “Mom” at the top of his lungs, no one would hear it.

Maybe people would think it strange that he knelt like that, but it would not matter. As long as he claimed it was a sincere love confession, that would be enough.

Everything was going perfectly.

He had spent two days at home putting this plan together. He had paid a hefty price to set the scene.

All he needed now was to complete the kneeling gesture. Then the task would be done.

He set the flowers aside. While the crowd was still cheering, and no one was paying close attention, he slammed his forehead to the ground in a loud, deliberate motion and shouted clearly—

“Mom!”

“Mom!”

“Mom!”

But unlike what he had expected, his cry of “Mom” was not drowned out by the crowd.

Instead, it echoed like it had been broadcast to the entire school.

The raucous cheers suddenly died.

The whole field fell into complete silence. It was so quiet that the flutter of a mosquito’s wings could be heard. The only sound was that word “Mom!” echoing from the school’s public broadcast system.

What on earth just happened?

Brother Kuo truly was Brother Kuo…

Even calling his mother was a performance unlike any other…

He really had earned his place as the school’s ultimate male idol.

In bold, massive letters: Total respect!!!
