The Cannon Fodder Stole the Male Lead’s Script GL - Chapter 45
When Zhan Rao and Jiang Yun arrived at the principal’s office, the principal, the dean of education, the grade supervisor, and the homeroom teachers of both classes were already present. The P.E. teacher was angrily recounting the events that had just occurred.
Li Yue stood to the side in a daze, her face pale and expression hollow. When she saw Jiang Yun at the office door, her eyes lit up for a moment. But when she noticed that Jiang Yun was standing beside Zhan Rao, whose arm was in a cast and wrapped in bandages, her eyes immediately dimmed again.
Li Yue regretted everything and thought that if she had not betrayed Jiang Yun in the first place, then perhaps Jiang Yun would have protected her because of the friendship they once shared, but everything had changed now.
“Zhan Rao and Jiang Yun are here,” the principal said.
His expression softened slightly upon seeing the two girls. However, the moment he saw Zhan Rao’s arm, his brows furrowed deeply.
“Zhan Rao, how did your arm get injured like that? Child, you were hurt and yet didn’t tell your teacher the truth. Your homeroom teacher said you told them you had fallen.”
The principal’s words carried both blame and deep concern. “How did this happen? Do you need to stay in the hospital longer? I can approve your leave.”
Zhan Rao’s left arm was wrapped in a cast and suspended. Hearing the principal’s question, she quickly smiled and shook her head.
“No need, Principal. It may look serious, but it’s actually fine now. It doesn’t hurt anymore. I just need to rest.”
“Child, don’t push yourself too hard.”
“It’s alright. It’s my left hand. It won’t affect my ability to write.”
“If you feel inconvenienced, you may write less homework.”
The principal gave her some additional advice before turning his attention to Jiang Yun to check if she had been injured.
The video suggested that both Zhan Rao and Jiang Yun had been attacked. Zhan Rao’s injury could be considered school violence, but if Jiang Yun had been harmed as well, it would have reflected extremely poorly on the school’s administration.
Thankfully, Jiang Yun was unscathed.
Even so, the principal took the opportunity to lecture them. “If something like this happens again, you must report it to the school. Do not try to handle it on your own. We will deal with any misbehaving students fairly and without favoritism.”
Jiang Yun gave a slight smile. “Thank you for your concern, Principal. I’m fine, so I didn’t report it this time. I’ll be more cautious in the future.”
The principal nodded in satisfaction.
She had not been pressing for Jiang Yun to report the incident. She only wanted to make it clear that the school should not be held responsible. If Jiang Yun went home and told a different story, it could create trouble, but her calm response suggested that this would not happen.
With that, it was time to deal with the matter at hand.
“Li Yue, do you understand what kind of punishment a Yinchuan High School student will face for engaging in school violence against another student?”
The principal’s stern tone startled Li Yue. She quickly bowed and apologized. “Principal, I know I was wrong. I’ll change. I won’t dare do this again. Please forgive me just this once.”
“Forgive you? Do you understand how serious this is? You colluded with second-year students and outsiders to harm Zhan Rao. You locked a classmate in the restroom, poured cold water on her, and assaulted her. Is this what Yinchuan High School teaches you? Have your parents come and process your suspension.”
Upon hearing this, Class 18’s homeroom teacher, Xi Juan, who usually had a gentle temperament, could not hold back her anger.
“Principal, let’s not even talk about how this caused Zhan Rao’s injury. Let’s just consider that she’s the top scorer in Yinchuan’s high school entrance exams, and now she has to rest for three months. These three months will impact her studies severely, and the damage to her and to the school is immeasurable. Furthermore, Li Yue’s actions are a blatant violation of our school rules. If we do not expel her, how will we maintain discipline? If making mistakes is so easy to get away with, will students start hiring people to hurt others just because they dislike them? If this continues, our school will no longer be dealing with just rule-breakers because we will be facing real criminals.”
Li Yue was terrified. Her legs gave out and she collapsed to her knees.
“Principal, I truly know I was wrong. I was just confused for a moment. I swear I won’t do it again.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks, turning her pale face red. Seeing that the principal remained unmoved, she turned her attention to her homeroom teacher, Chen Su.
“Teacher Chen, please help me. I’ve always behaved well in class. You can ask the other students. They all like me. I’m really not a bad person.”
Chen Su, noticing that Li Yue was staring directly at her, grew nervous and quickly looked toward the principal and Xi Juan. As expected, both of them were also watching her. Flustered, she adjusted her glasses.
In her heart, she cursed Li Yue. She hated troublemakers the most. If you must stir up trouble, at least don’t get caught. She had been hoping to work quietly in the school. This incident would definitely affect her bonus.
“Li Yue, I believe you were once a good student, but the issue this time is very serious and cannot be overlooked. We need to discuss how to handle it.”
“What is there to discuss? Call her parents right now. She was already causing problems in my class. Now she’s going after students from another class. We cannot keep a student like this.”
The P.E. teacher was furious.
In all his years of teaching, no one had dared to behave like this under his watch. And the one who started the fight was a girl, which made her audacity all the more shocking.
The dean of education agreed. “I support that. Contact the parents first.”
The principal nodded after a moment of thought. “Teacher Chen, please call her parents. Also, are Zhan Rao’s and Xin Keke’s parents on their way as well?”
Zhan Rao was surprised to hear that her parents had been called.
She looked questioningly at her homeroom teacher.
Xi Juan explained, “I’m sorry, Zhan Rao. We informed your parents without your permission because they have to be made aware. If they are not informed, it would be a failure on our part.”
Zhan Rao frowned but quickly let it go.
The room fell silent as everyone waited for the parents to arrive.
Zhan Rao and Jiang Yun sat down in the empty chairs. Li Yue, who had been pulled up by Chen Su, stood nearby, whispering again and again that her mother must not be called. Her face was even more frightened now. It seemed that nothing the teachers said scared her as much as the thought of her mother coming to school.
The teachers quietly discussed how to handle Li Yue.
Half an hour later, the parents began arriving.
Zhan Rao’s parents were the first to arrive.
The couple had rushed over as soon as they heard their daughter had been attacked. But when they saw that Zhan Rao was mostly fine except for her arm, they felt relieved.
“She looks alright. Why did the teachers say she was attacked?” Zhan Rao’s mother looked her over several times but could not spot anything different from that morning.
Zhan Rao looked at Xi Juan and then turned to her mother with a hint of embarrassment on her face.
“I lied. I didn’t fall. Someone hit me.”
“What!” her father exploded.
“You told us you fell.”
Zhan Rao sighed. “I knew you would react like this. That’s why I said it was just an accident. I didn’t want you to worry.”
Her mother asked, “What really happened? Who hit you?”
Zhan Rao scratched her head and looked at Jiang Yun. “I’m not entirely sure. You’ll have to ask Jiang Yun. She was there.”
Hearing this, her parents finally noticed Jiang Yun.
Jiang Yun met Zhan Rao’s gaze. After getting her signal, she explained calmly, “I don’t know everything, but I do know that a classmate of ours worked with outsiders to ambush Zhan Rao in an alley.”
“Why would they do that?”
Zhan Rao’s mother was stunned.
Jiang Yun shook her head, but her eyes were fixed on Li Yue.
Li Yue nervously hid behind her homeroom teacher.
Zhan Rao’s mother picked up on this. She turned and spotted a girl trying to stay out of sight.
Her anger flared. “Was it you? Did you hit our daughter? Why?”
Li Yue kept her head down and did not respond.
Zhan Rao’s mother grew more agitated. “Speak up. What kind of grudge do you have against Zhan Rao? Did she offend you at school? If she did anything wrong, we will educate her. But that does not mean you can attack her or bring in people from outside the school.”
Li Yue still did not respond.
Zhan Rao’s mother was so angry, she did not even know what else to say.
They were not unreasonable people, but facing someone like Li Yue, who refused to speak, left them at a loss.
Just then, four more people entered the room.
Tong Xue arrived, along with Xin Keke, who had her head bandaged, and Xin Keke’s parents.
The moment Xin Keke’s father walked in, everyone was startled.
He was tall and strong, with a thick gold chain around his neck. He looked intimidating. Her mother was a tall, beautiful woman with long wavy hair, wearing a leopard-print dress and carrying a Chanel bag. She had sunglasses perched on her face.
While Xin Keke’s father carefully examined his daughter’s injuries and spoke gently to her, her mother entered confidently wearing high heels that clacked loudly across the floor and echoed through the room. She marched forward at a brisk pace, removed her sunglasses with one hand, and looked around with sharp eyes.
“Who is Li Yue?”
Li Yue froze at the voice. She dared not make a sound and stared nervously at the woman at the door.
The teachers were also startled by the family. Before anyone could speak, Xin Keke’s mother stormed over to Li Yue, who was standing next to Chen Su.
Without hesitation, she raised her hand and slapped Li Yue hard three times.
“Smack! Smack! Smack!”
The clear, loud slaps echoed through the office. Everyone was stunned.
Even Li Yue was frozen in shock.
Standing tall in her high heels, Xin Keke’s mother pointed at Li Yue, her long red nails tapping her forehead as she scolded her. “You little brat. If you dare lay a hand on my daughter, don’t think you can get away with it. My precious girl is not someone you can touch. Do you have a death wish?”
Everyone in the room was speechless.
